Q1. Answer:

Because he saw changes in bright and dark patches across the

surface – this suggested clouds in an atmosphere.

Q2. Answer:

Because they had observed that Mars is more similar to Earth

than any other planet, has an atmosphere similar to Earth and

the presence of ice caps suggested water.

Q3. Answer:

i. Mars atmosphere is very thin

ii. The atmosphere was almost totally CO2

iii. Daytime temperatures were estimated to be -100 °C

Q4. Answer:

It confirmed that Mars has atmosphere. (Or craters on surface)
