It’s often shown in by using opposite elements. It’s used to create visual interest and drama in a piece of art. EMPHASIS is the part of the design that catches the viewer's attention. Usually the artist will make one area stand out by contrasting it with other areas. The area could be different in size, colour, texture, shape, etc. REPETITION refers to one object or shape repeated. Introduction We are now starting a mini unit on fitness! PATTERN is a combination of elements or shapes being repeated.

Explore This week you will be completing an assessment task to show all the great learning you have been doing in art. To show your knowledge of the four principles (contrast, emphasis, repetition and pattern) you will be creating a PowerPoint presentation. Watch this video! Click on this link. Select File / Download / Microsoft PowerPoint. Then select Enable Editing and File / Save As ‘your name’ onto your desktop. Edit the boring template to include your amazing knowledge and ideas! Things you must include (these are set out in the template):

Front cover page (name, grade, title).

A slide for each principle; contrast, emphasis, repetition and pattern.

For each of those slides you must include a definition (in your own words to the best of your ability) and artwork by famous artists that show/demonstrate the art principle. Please name the artist and the artwork.

Next, select one or more principles of art and illustrate the art term to visually show what the term means. It can just be a simple drawing. Take a photo and upload/insert to a slide.

Finally, complete a 3, 2, 1 reflection on your final slide:

- 3 things I have learned… - 2 things I found challenging… - 1 BIG question I still have…

Main Activity: Fitness Assessment This activity is an Assessment Task that will take 3 weeks to complete. You are going to work through a PowerPoint and by the end of week 9 you will upload it onto Microsoft Teams. This Assessment Task is all about goal setting, creating and working through a plan to achieve your goal. Make sure you download your own copy of the FITNESS ASSESSMENT Template. Week 1 you will need to complete up to Slide 3 of the PowerPoint. Slide 1 – Insert your Name and Grade. Slide 2 – Make a fitness goal. Make sure it is something you are going to have fun doing. If you can’t think of something here are some ideas:

Being able to do a handstand.

Being able to do the splits.

Holding a plank for 3 minutes.

If you think of another fitness goal, work with it, these are here for anyone who can’t think of something. Slide 3 – Create a plan to help you achieve your fitness goal. e.g.

If you are having trouble, have a look at Miss Morgan’s FITNESS ASSESSMENT Example. This will show you what we expect!
