This term the grade 5/6’s went to scope out some possible high school options for the coming years. We went to two different schools, the first of which was Collingwood College. At Collingwood College we played around with their advanced animation program (Maya), we did an eye catching experiment in their newly refurbished science labs, also a very challenging maths puzzle and finished a spooky narrative. The second school we had a peep in, was Richmond High School (RHS). At RHS we had mini tour of their neat new school with some of their spectacular staff and a few of their intelligent students including some ex RPS students. After that we made good use of their new science labs by separating substances. Overall this was a wonderful experi-ence that definitely helped the 5/6’s prepare for high school. We would like to thank both schools for hosting us. By Amelia and Sophie T

Grade 5/6 — Exploring Local High
Schools Continued….
Urban Foxes at RPS We have been finding evidence of nocturnal visits by local foxes attracted to the food
scraps left around the school (and even the odd pigeon.) I had a late night encounter
last week with this particularly bold fellow who I followed through the school and then
managed to take this photo of in Mary Street. The scats and mess they leave require
daily attention and so this presses the need for our students to ensure we are cleaning
up after ourselves particularly our lunch scraps around the courtyard.
The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) 2019 for Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 students will be held on 14 – 16 May. NAPLAN tests assess student knowledge and skills in Writing, Reading, Language conventions
(spelling, grammar and punctuation) and Numeracy. During test week, catch-up tests will be available for individual students who are absent on test days.
All students in Years 3 and 5 are expected to participate in the NAPLAN tests. However, students may be withdrawn from
NAPLAN by their parent or carer. This is a matter for consideration by parents and carers in consultation with the principal.
If, after consultation, you decide to withdraw your child, you must sign a Student Withdrawal form.
These forms are available at the school.
For information about NAPLAN, visit:

or the NAP website at www.nap.edu.au

late in the week and our school servers requiring a full re-imaging after being infected
by a virus. Apologies for parents affected by this—we will attempt to catch on missed
emails as this week progresses.
Selling your house? Mention RPS at the time of listing and Biggin & Scott Richmond will donate $1,000.00 to the school. They will also donate $500.00 to the school for every new management property signed up, where RPS is mentioned.
