“He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his
disciples: He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.”
(Matt. 28:6-7)
When I went to my first funeral there was a
body that was lying in a casket looking like
they were asleep but at the same time lifeless. It
was a finality. There was no movement left in that
body. The person who once walked, talked and
interacted with this world and other people was no
longer. That body lay in a casket and was buried.
The amazing thing about the resurrection of Jesus
is that His body did not stay in the tomb. There is
no evidence of His body being found or His skele-
tal remains. However, there is much evidence that
He is alive because so many people reported to have seen Him, spoken with Him and touched Him. Credible
eyewitness accounts exist in the gospels and in the history of the Church.
How does the resurrection impact our lives? First, Jesus concurred death. We have the assurance that He who
promised to give us life is not dead but alive! Second, Sin is an agent of death. Sin destroys, deteriorates and
sucks the life out of us. Christ’s death pays the price of sin on our behalf. Sin no longer has claim upon those
who believe. The resurrection proves that we are more than conquerors through Christ Jesus, our Lord. Third,
Jesus is still alive! He didn’t resurrect only to die a second time. The resurrection of Christ is permanent. He sits
at the right hand of God waiting to return to earth and set up His kingdom in all its fullness. Until then we experi-
ence the living Christ through His church.
We who serve Jesus Christ as Lord are indeed His body on earth until He returns. We embody the resurrected
Christ in Spirit as He directs us on earth. However, one day, Jesus is going to say “enough!” His physical body
will return and all sin, all disease, all lawlessness, wars, abuse, and brokenness will cease. God will reunite the
dead in Christ with their bodies and they will rise with new bodies on a new earth.
When you know these things, it impacts how you live in this life. It changes how we act and think. We stop
looking for dead things and look for life where Jesus is at work. Spend time looking at the empty tomb but don’t
linger there. Go where Jesus is; among the poor in spirit, among the needy, among those who need love and
respect. Give them the good news in Word and Deed. Jesus Christ has risen!
Peace,
Pastor Mike

Generation G: Leaving a Spiritual Legacy (or Hot Topics on Grandparenting)
-by Gramma Pat Whisler
Last month we celebrated the coming of spring and noted how we as grandparents must take care of our grandchildren’s hearts that they many bloom from the sonshine of Jesus. Let’s now take a stroll through the garden of Ephesians to see what we must water. God’s Word: I pray that the eyes of my
heart may be enlightened in order that I may show my
grandchildren the hope to which they have been called...
Ephesians 1:18 This month’s GP Hot Topic: S T R O L L I N G E P H E S I A N S Watch for the bees! 4:2 completely humble and gentle; patient, bearing with one
another in love.
4:23-24 made new in the attitude of your minds; and put on the new self, created to
like God in true righteousness and holiness.
4:32 kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ, God forgave you.
5:1-2 God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love…
5:15 very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise,
6:10-11 strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.
6:18 alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
A c t i o n : Look through God’s garden (scripture) and find some more ‘bees’. Keep a list and include them in your prayers for your grandchildren.
A t h o u g h t : Being a grandparent is wonderful. One minute you’re a parent, next you’re wise and prehistoric.
Join our Grandparents@Prayer meeting on April 29 in room 10 a half hour before the traditional service begins.

GRACE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH IS A CONFESSING CHURCH, and we believe:
That Jesus Christ alone is Lord of all and the way of salvation.
That Holy Scripture is the triune God’s revealed Word,
the Church’s only infallible rule of faith and life.
That God’s people are called to holiness in all aspects of life.
