Prayer Before Worship
Almighty God, merciful Father, since you have wakened from death the
Shepherd of your sheep, grant us your Holy Spirit that we may know the
voice of our Shepherd and follow him that sin and death may never pluck
us out of your hand; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns
with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY
for LUTHERAN STUDENTS
Bethesda Lutheran Communities is accepting scholarship applications for the 2015-16 academic year for Lutheran high school, college and
seminary students with a career objective in the field of intellectual
and developmental disabilities.
Bethesda will award five Lutheran student scholastic and service
scholarships: two $3,000 awards for current college students; one $3,000 award for a seminary student; and two $500 awards for high
school seniors. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average. Other application requirements include documentation of
volunteer or paid service to people with developmental disabilities, an essay and letters of recommendation. The application deadline is
Friday, May 1, 2015.
To be eligible, a student must be an active communicant member of
a Lutheran congregation. Bethesda staff will review applications and make selections in July. Awards will be directly applied to school
fees at private or public four-year, post-secondary institutions.

TUESDAY MORNING MEN’S BIBLE STUDY
Tuesday morning Men’s Bible Study meets at 6:30am every week here
at Grace in the Conference Room. We are now working our way though
the book of 1 Peter. As it says in Hebrews 13:14, “For here we have no
lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come.” As Christians we are
sojourners here on our way to our heavenly home. Come and join us as
we explore the message of Peter, encouraging the early Christians to be
patient in their suffering and circumstances and live as people of hope!
SUNDAY BIBLE STUDIES
“I am a Church Member” - Join us as we discover and/or rediscover
the privilege and responsibility of belonging to a local church.

“Blessed are the Peacemakers”- Come and learn from God’s
Word how to live, proclaim, and cultivate a lifestyle of reconciliation
in the midst of relational conflict. Each week we will focus on
different aspects of our life in Christ and the responsibility that is
ours to serve as peacemakers.

LWML NEWS MISSION GRANTS
Supporters of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML),
praise God for His faithfulness. By His grace, the following Mission
Grants for the 2013-2015 biennium have been funded.
Third installment given to: Lutheran Children’s books for Southeast
Asia, totaling $40,000.
Third gift of $25,000 for Rebuilding Nord Est Haiti Lutheran School.
Christian Educational Support for Children in India. This will help
reach 20,000 elementary aged children in India with the Gospel
message through Christian educational resources.
Our mission goal is $1.83 million for mission grants of this biennium.
We ask, in order to help meet our need, you would please pick up
your Mite Box. Thank you for your support.
HAND BELL LESSONS
“Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.” - Psalm 95:2 A wonderful way to fulfill this verse is with the playing of an instrument. Hand Bell Beginner classes will start: Tuesday evenings June 2-23 from 6:30 - 7:30pm here at Grace and
again on Tuesday evenings August 4 - 25 from 6:30 - 7:30pm here at Grace.

CHILDREN’S CYCLING CLINIC
Kiwanis Club of Mount Clemens presents Children’s Cycling Clinic
on: Saturday, May 9 from 12:00 - 2:00pm in downtown Mount Clemens
at the Macomb Place near Anton Art Center. Join us for a day of fun
and safety. The Macomb County Sheriff’s Dept. and the Mount Clemens
Fire Dept. are some of the participants who will join in the fun that day.
Activities include: Bicycle Obstacle Course, Bicycle Tune ups, Face Painting,
Bike Giveaway, and more.
Children can earn a bicycle safety certificate award.

BABY BOTTLE DRIVE Compassion Pregnancy Center Baby Bottle Drive will begin Friday, May 1. Watch for a table and pick up a baby bottle to fill with change over the month of May. Grace did great last year in helping these Moms with unexpected pregnancies. The funds go to parenting education, counseling, diapers, equipment, clothing, and other needs until the baby is two years old. STEPHEN MINISTRY Stephen Ministers are laypeople—Christian men and women, trained to provide one-to-one care to people experiencing a difficult time in life, such as grief, divorce, job loss, chronic or terminal illness, relocation, or separation due to military deployment.

WOMEN’S RETREAT
Come Let us Return to the Lord - Day Retreat, led by Cheryl Spaulding (Morning
Star Ministries). Day retreats are held at the Capuchin Retreat Center in Washing-
ton Township from 8:30am to 4:30pm. The retreats are offered to women who
want to get away from the busyness of life and set aside time to draw near to the
Lord. Our theme for 2015 is: “Bringing our Hearts to Him.” Mornings are struc-
tured and afternoons are designed to spend personal time with the Lord. Cost:
$40.00 per person and includes a Continental breakfast and full lunch. Private
