Opening Hymn: “Holy Spirit, Light Divine” LSB 4961. Holy Spirit, light divine, Shine upon this heart of mine;

Chase the shades of night away, Turn the darkness into day

2. Let me see my Savior’s face, Let me all His beauties trace;Show those glorious truths to me Which are only known to Thee.

3. Holy Spirit, pow’r divine, Cleanse this guilty heart of mine;In Thy mercy pity me, From sin’s bondage set me free.

4. Holy Spirit, joy divine, Cheer this saddened heart of mine;Yield a sacred, settled peace, Let it grow and still increase.

5. Holy Spirit, all divine, Dwell within this heart of mine;Cast down ev’ry idol throne, Reign supreme, and reign alone.

InvocationP: In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.C: Amen.

Confession and AbsolutionP: If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is

not in us.C: But if we confess our sins, God, who is faithful and just, will

forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.P: Let us then confess our sins to God our Father.C: Most merciful God, we confess that we are by nature sinful

and unclean. We have sinned against You in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have leftundone. We have not loved You with our whole heart; wehave not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We justly deserveYour present and eternal punishment. For the sake of YourSon, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us,

my enemies triumph over me.C: No one whose hope is in You will ever be put to shame, but

they will be put to shame who are treacherous withoutexcuse.

P: Show me Your ways, O Lord, teach me Your paths;C: guide me in Your truth and teach me, for You are God my

Savior, and my hope is in You all day long.P: Remember, O Lord, Your great mercy and love, for they are

P: The Holy Gospel according to St. John the 7 chapter.th

P: This is the Gospel of the Lord.

The Nicene CreedI believe in one God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven

and earth and of all things visible and invisible. And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God,

begotten of His Father before all worlds, God of God, Light ofLight, very God of very God, begotten, not made, being of onesubstance with the Father, by whom all things were made; whofor us men and for our salvation came down from heaven andwas incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary and wasmade man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate. He suffered and was buried. And the third day He rose againaccording to the Scriptures and ascended into heaven and sits atthe right hand of the Father. And He will come again with gloryto judge both the living and the dead, whose kingdom will haveno end.

And I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and giver of life,Who proceeds from the Father and the Son, Who with the Fatherand the Son together is worshiped and glorified, Who spoke bythe prophets. And I believe in one holy Christian and apostolicChurch, I acknowledge one Baptism for the remission of sins,And I look for the resurrection of the dead and the life of theworld to come. Amen.

Sermon Hymn: “O Day Full of Grace” LSB 5031. O day full of grace that now we see

Appearing on earth’s horizon,Bring light from our God that we may beReplete in His joy this season.God, shine for us now in this dark place;Your name on our hearts emblazon.

2. O day full of grace, O blessèd time,Our Lord on the earth arriving; Then came to the world that light sublime,Great joy for us all retrieving; For Jesus all mortals did embrace,All darkness and shame removing.

3. For Christ bore our sins, and not His own,When He on the cross was hanging; And then He arose and moved the stoneThat we, unto Him belonging,Might join with angelic hosts to raiseOur voices in endless singing.

4. God came to us then at Pentecost,His Spirit new life revealing,That we might no more from Him be lost,All darkness for us dispelling. His flame will the mark of sin effaceAnd bring to us all His healing.

5. When we on that final journey goThat Christ is for us preparing,We’ll gather in song, our hearts aglow,All joy of the heavens sharing,And walk in the light of God’s own place,With angels His name adoring.

______________________________________________________NOTES AND NEWS

Welcome We believe that God has called each one of us to join witheach other in new and growing relationships with His Son, JesusChrist, so there is an important place for you here.

Life Thoughts in the Church Year: “Remember not the sins of myyouth” (Psalm 25:7a). Many post-abortive women and men havemade the Psalmist’s prayer their own without us ever knowing. Wedon’t have to keep God’s Word to ourselves just because they do. Let us instead rejoice with them that the Heavenly Father remembersthem in His steadfast love and forgiveness, even those who haveengaged in violence against life.

The Lutheran Hour: “Jesus Doesn’t Babble” Guest Speaker: Rev.

Dr. Matthew Harrison. Jesus brings the Word of peace to those who

have grown weary of all the babble (John 14). Hear the message

Sunday on WJAG at 7:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

Stewardship Corner: The Apostle Paul wrote, “For we are His

workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works…” (Ephesians

2:10). We are God’s masterpieces filled with the Holy Spirit. With

the same power that God used in the beginning to create man from

dust and later to resurrect Jesus from the dead (Ephesians 1:19-20),

He raises us out of spiritual death and makes us new people—His

workmanship, transformed stewards—whose works give evidence that

we are new creatures. By the Holy Spirit through Word and

Sacrament, we are brought into God’s kingdom. As new people

living under the power of the Gospel, we desire to honor God and

obediently do the good works He has planned for us to do. Because

Christ has redeemed us from all wickedness and purified for “Himself

a people for His own possession,” we are zealous for good works

(Titus 2:14).

It has pleased Almighty God, in His wise providence, to summon out

of this life the soul of Tom Brenneman. Funeral services were held

Friday, May 29. May the Lord comfort the survivors with the hope

of reunion with their loved one in heaven.

Prayer Works! We at Grace believe in the power of God to answer

prayers. The Lord Himself encourages us to call upon Him. May we

do this on your behalf? Please fill out a yellow Prayer Request Card

and place it in our Prayer Request Box in the Narthex.
