Why did He have to suffer and die for me?
Why did He have to suffer and die for me?I. Because of Adam's
original sin all of mankind has sinned and therefore needs a savior.
Rom 5:12-21
Rom 5:12 When Adam sinned, sin entered the entire
human race. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for
everyone sinned.
17a The sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to
rule over us,
17a The sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to
rule over us,18a Yes, Adam’s one sin brought condemnation
upon everyone,
19a Because one person disobeyed God, many
people became sinners.
19a Because one person disobeyed God, many
people became sinners.20b But as people sinned more and more, God’s
wonderful kindness became more abundant.
16a And the result of God’s gracious gift is very
different from the result of that one man’s sin.
16a And the result of God’s gracious gift is very
different from the result of that one man’s sin.
16b For Adam’s sin led to condemnation,
16c but we have the free gift of being accepted by God, even though we are guilty
of many sins.
17b all who receive God’s wonderful, gracious gift of righteousness will live in
triumph over sin and death, through this one
man, Jesus Christ.
18b Christ’s one act of righteousness makes all
people right in God’s sight and gives them life.
19b because (Jesus Christ) obeyed God, many people
will be made right in God’s sight.
21So just as sin ruled over all people and brought
them to death, now God’s wonderful kindness rules
instead,…
... giving us right standing with God and resulting in eternal life through Jesus
Christ our Lord.
Why did He have to suffer and die for me?
Why did He have to suffer and die for me?II. So that you would
never be judged for your sins.
Why did He have to suffer and die for me?II. So that you would
never be judged for your sins.
(Made possible by His work on the Cross)
Rom 8:1
So now there is no condemnation for those
who belong to Christ Jesus.
John 5:24
“Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word,
and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life,…
... and does not come into judgment, but has passed
out of death into life.”
Why did He have to suffer and die for me?
Why did He have to suffer and die for me?
III. To give you (believers in Him) victory over sin and death which means
eternal life.
Rom 8:2
For the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you through Christ Jesus from the power of sin that leads
to death.
1 Peter 3:18
Christ also suffered when He died for our sins once
for all time. He never sinned, but he died for
sinners…
... that he might bring us safely home to God. He suffered physical death,
but he was raised to life by means of the Spirit.
1 Cor 15:54
Death is swallowed up in victory, 55O death, where is
your victory? O death, where is your sting?”
56For sin is the sting that results in death, ….
57How we thank God, who gives us victory over sin
and death, through Jesus Christ our Lord!
John 3:17
“For God did not send the Son into the world to
judge the world, but that the world might be saved
through Him.”
18“He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does
not believe has been judged already, because
he has not believed in the name of the only begotten
Son of God.”
