JANUARY 10, 2021

From today’s Gospel reading: On coming out of the water, Jesus saw the heavens torn open and the Spirit, like a dove, descending upon him. And a voice came from the heavens, “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.”

Reflection: John the Baptist promised that Jesus would baptize us with the Spirit. Baptism inaugurated Jesus’ mission and Mark reminds us that, through our baptism, we too are sent on mission. We are not baptized into a stay-at-home community to enjoy our gatherings, sing our hymns and say our prayers. Through our baptism each of us has been called to serve others in Christ’s name.

So, we ask ourselves: - Am I aware that baptism means more than membership in a church? - What mission has the Holy Spirit given me as a baptized Christian?

STEWARDSHIP 2021

We are grateful to the parish families who have returned a Stewardship of Treasure Commitment Pledge Card. This time more than ever, due to COVID, we are way below our regular collection. As of January 7, 201 families have returned their pledge cards for a total of $337,304. Our budget for the fiscal year is $682,000 so we still need all our parish families to pray about their commitment and turn in a pledge card as soon as possible. Thank you for your faithful support!

END OF THE YEAR TAX STATEMENT

End-of-the-year tax statements will be mailed in the week of January 19 to all who contributed at least $200. This year ALL tax statements will be sent via snail mail. If you do not receive yours by Jan. 29, please contact Diana in the parish office. If you have moved or have a different mailing address, please let us know. For your contributions for the Annual Catholic Appeal and/or the Called to Christ Campaign, contact the archdiocese at 206-382-4274. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact us. CHURCH DEDICATION UPDATE

The long awaited dedication of our church has been scheduled

for Saturday, February 6th at 5:00pm with Archbishop Paul

Etienne presiding. He is looking forward to being with us on this

most special occasion in the life of our parish community.

Because of COVID-19 restrictions, and following the mandate set

by our Governor and by our Archdiocesan Coronavirus Task

Force, we will be limited to 25% of available seating in the

church, or 115 seats. Very regrettably, this means that we will

not be able to accept reservations for this liturgy. Attendance

will be by invitation only. I know that this is a great

disappointment to many who would like to be there, and for this I

offer my deepest apologies. However, this liturgy will be

livestreamed for all of our parishioners who wish to be united in

heart and spirit as we celebrate this historic event.

I am grateful to each person who has helped to make our

renovation possible in ways large and small through the gifts of

your time, talent and financial resources. I thank God for you,

and I thank you too, for your understanding and patience.

Reservations will be accepted for our 9:45am and 11:30am

Masses in our new church on Sunday, February 7th, and every

weekend thereafter! May God bless us all!
