Bioengineered pathogens could become a serious threat to human health if ever released. The best defense available against such an attack would be to isolate the offensive pathogen as soon as possible and to take samples. These samples can then be used to identify, classify, and develop a treatment for the pathogen. This document provides instructions for top notch sample handling and preparation.

As War of the Worlds examples, pathogens that are natural to humans can have a devastating effect upon the nervous systems of extraterrestrials. Conversely, pathogens unknown to humans can produce like effects. Therefore knowledge of and a concrete plan of action for dealing with an occurrence of bioengineered threats could produce positive results in the event of alien attack. As mentioned above, this document provides instructions on the identification, handling, identification, and combating which most likely would be an adopted tactic of any invaders, as evidenced by our discussions of its usage in the current world situation.

5.) Calvin, Melvin and Susan K. Vaughn, “Extraterrestrial Life: Some organic constituents of meteorites and their significance for possible extraterrestrial biological evolution,” U.S. Atomic Energy Commission, http://repositories.cdlib.org/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=5746&context=lbnl (Accessed December 2, 2007). This paper discusses the types of information that can be gathered from “outer space” and its value in regards to the evolution of life here on earth. The focus is upon either the presence or absence of certain chemicals which could have significance in the development of life. While previously (prior to December 7, 1959), the only available information was obtained by way of telescopic spectroscopy, new studies, particularly those involving the examination of meteoric material has lead to new insights. Presently, new information is reported herein concerning the presence of complex organic materials encased within the meteorites, some of which have appear to be uniquely pertinent to the formation of life.

In a return to the citation presented above, we have become aware that physiology and materials that produce adverse reactions in this format have the potential to cause great harm against a targeted population. Information concerning the potential physiology of potential opponents can be used to distinct advantage. This paper details the absence or presence of certain chemicals which could potentially be involved in the formation process of extraterrestrial life. Knowledge of the necessary components would provide us with opportunities to create tailored pathogens to combat opponents.

As the title implies, this is a pathfinder that provides information upon various aspects of extraterrestrial life forms. It can be used to develop pathways of scholarship for preparation of alien contact. This could be considered an “essential” text for developing a library for the purposes of surviving and thriving in the event of first contact.

7.) Agency for Toxic Substances and & Disease Registry, “Toxic Substances Portal,” Department of Health and Human Services, http://www.atsdr.cdc.gov/substances/ (Accessed December 1, 2007).

Provides access to the latest research and related information concerning a multitude of toxic substances and how they affect our health. Information provided includes characteristics, exposure rates, related health effects, and health studies and assessments.

Physiology and chemical warfare appear to have become a focal point of this bibliography, and this and several more resources will provide additional instruction upon the matter. Here we find a multitude of toxic substances and their properties listed. The affects upon the health of humans are listed, but the effects that these substances would have upon extraterrestrial physiology are unknown at present.

8.) Agency for Toxic Substances & Disease Registry, “Public Health Assessments and Health Consultations,” http://www.atsdr.cdc.gov/hac/PHA/index.asp (Accessed December 1, 2007).

Provides a listing of all Superfund sites in the United States, and provides the public health assessment for each site. These assessments determine if people are currently risking exposure to hazardous substances. If they are, and the exposure is deemed to be harmful, it provides conclusions and recommendations for the reduction or stoppage of the exposure.

In the chaos that could result from alien invasion, it is possible that one could become unaware of their present location geographically and this situation could result in the potential for possible infection by various substances. Therefore this site provides a listing and mapping of all Superfund sites in the United States, coupled with nature of the health risks posed by each site. While in normal circumstances one would choose to avoid such a location, in the case of possible extraterrestrial attack they could be used as safe havens. If the exposure has been deemed not harmful, or proper protective measures have been enacted, these areas could be used as refugee areas as the pathogens present would provide possible defense against extraterrestrial incursions.

9.) Center for Devices and Radiological Health, “Medical Devices Requiring Refrigeration,” U.S. Food and Drug Administration, http://www.fda.gov/cdrh/emergency/refrigeration.html (Accessed December 1, 2007).

to do when the power goes out, when it is restored, and specific instruction related to various types of medical devices.

This publication provides information about a subject that has the potential to be overlooked in emergencies until after the fact. This would be the storage, care, and use of medical devices and medicinal items that require refrigeration as a condition of keeping. This information would be vital in the event that an extraterrestrial attack would have an influence on the supply and distribution of power in your local network.

10.) Center for Devices and Radiological Health, “Medical Devices that have been exposed to Heat and Humidity,” http://www.fda.gov/cdrh/emergency/heathumidity.html (Accessed December 1, 2007).

This document provides instruction for storage and usage of medical devices that have been exposed to high levels of heat and humidity during emergency situations. If the storage requirements of a device have been violated, the device is no longer safe for medical usage. However, one should not discard the device as that may contribute to product shortages. Information includes what to do with electrical devices, test kits, blood glucose monitors, single and reusable devices.

This publication provides information about a subject that has the potential to be overlooked in emergencies until after the fact. This would be the storage, care, and use of medical devices and medicinal items that have been exposed to heat and/or humidity which would violate a condition of keeping. This information would be vital in the event that an extraterrestrial attack would have an influence on the physical conditioning of the medicine, which could disrupt the potency of the medicine.

11.) Dusold, Larry, webmaster, “Countering Bioterrorism and other threats to the food supply,” United States Department of Agriculture, http://www.foodsafety.gov/~fsg/bioterr.html (Accessed December 1, 2007).

This web portal provides access to a wide variety of information from the federal government, federal government/private partnerships, state, local, along with international agencies ranging from the FBI to the WHO. Topics covered include agroterrorism, bioterrorism, water and food safety, pesticides, and counter terrorism training.

The material covered here would be useful for survival purposes in the event that normal avenues of life were disrupted. This portal presents information covering a wide variety of aspects about the threat of bioterrorism, which would be useful in combating biological threats of an extraterrestrial origin. The collection of different agencies involved, from law enforcement to environmental, provides a wide variety of practices which can be conglomerated for best defense.

12.) Center for Biological Evaluation and Research, “Countering bioterrorism,” http://www.fda.gov/cber/cntrbio/cntrbio.htm (Accessed December 1, 2007).

This document provides information for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases caused by bioterrorist pathogens. Also present is a discussion of the complex nature of such an attack due in the most part to the multiplicity of potential agents

Page 5: Government Publications on Aliens

multiplied by the fact that most of them would be of unnatural origin. Specific information is provided for the pathogens known as anthrax, smallpox, plague, botulism, tularemia, and hemorrhagic fevers.

These diseases can be deadly for humans and therefore even deadlier to aliens. Having an understanding of these diseases and their prevention could help keep you alive, while at the same time enabling them to be used effectively against invaders. I think I ran out of ways to describe bioterrorism, pathogens, and extraterrestrials.

13.) Center for Biological Evaluation and Research, “Xenotransplantation Action Plan,” U.S. Food and Drug Administration, http://www.fda.gov/cber/xap/xap.htm (Accessed December 1, 2007).

This action plan concerns the process of xenotransplantation, which is the transplantation, implantation, or infusion into a human being of living cells, tissues, or organs from a nonhuman source. Takes into account the possibility of cross-species infections and provides meeting transcripts and available documents and international information.

Current intelligence on extraterrestrials indicates a particular proclivity toward experimentation of various sorts. If an aim of such experimentation is to discover the physiology and more of human beings and other animals that inhabit the planet Earth, xenotransplantation could be used. Since this a complicated process above the understanding of many, this text will provide a basic introduction to this topic that could come in useful.

14.) Center for Biological Evaluation and Research, “Use of Cloning Technology to Clone a Human Being,” http://www.fda.gov/cber/genetherapy/clone.htm (Accessed December 1, 2007).

This document presents cloning as a piece of the recent activity involved in the area of scientific and biotechnological progresses. Presents information concerning the matter of the ethical nature of a potential human clone, the current illegality of human cloning under United States law, and also acknowledges that cloning could lead to medical advances in research and practice.

While this technology (supposedly) has not been developed or used currently on Earth, the possibility exists that extraterrestrials could have knowledge of its forms and functions. This document can provide information about what is involved in the cloning process and help one to recognize if they or another has been cloned.

15.) U.S. National Library of Medicine, “Genetics Home Reference,” Department of Health and Human Services, http://ghr.nlm.nih.gov/ (Accessed December 1, 2007).

These formats include books, reference works, conference proceedings, government publications, abstracts and indexes, journals and journal articles, internet resources and other selected materials.

The purpose of including this resource on the list should be obvious, as it presents current intelligence about the mode of transportation of beings of other worlds. General reports seem to indicate similarities in the types of vehicles used, so the information could become useful as a type of spotter’s chart, as well as providing information about the performance and abilities of the craft.

17.) Bacon, Kenneth H., “DoD News Briefing, Tuesday, April 18, 2000,” http://www.defenselink.mil/Transcripts/Transcript.aspx?TranscriptID=1199 (Accessed December 2, 2007).

A transcription of the daily news briefing by the Department of Defense concerning various matters indicative of that day and questioning put forth by various media agents. Pertinent questions to our topic were presented upon the nature of the contents of Area 51, a location often believed to contain materials of extraterrestrial origin. During the course of the questioning the government through its spokesperson again denies that there are any alien life forms or alien technology present at the aforementioned location.

While not providing precisely in-depth information about the goings on of the base, it serves as a reminder that this could be an area of interest in the case of extraterrestrial invasion. Being present at this site would most likely be dangerous, as the potential concentration of alien technology would most likely provide an attraction.

18.) Science Reference Services, “Underground Architecture,” Library of Congress, http://www.loc.gov/rr/scitech/tracer-bullets/undergroundtb.html (Accessed December 1, 2007).

A pathfinder for resources held by the Library of Congress and online information of scientific repute in various media formats that contain information upon the subject of underground architecture. These formats include books, reference works, conference proceedings, government publications, abstracts and indexes, journals and journal articles, internet resources and other selected materials.

In case of extraterrestrial invasion, there exists the possibility that the surface would become unfit for human habitation due to a variety of happenings. Therefore carefully constructed underground shelters would be advisable for usage. Underground shelter has been used in the past to great effect against bombardments of the past, although this situation would present new challenges.

These formats include books, reference works, conference proceedings, government publications, abstracts and indexes, journals and journal articles, internet resources and other selected materials.

In case of extraterrestrial invasion, the power supply known as electricity would most likely be a high value target for hostile parties. Therefore it would become imperative that humanity access alternative forms of energy. Solar energy would be a wise choice in this instance.

20.) Science Reference Services, “Poisonous Plants,” Library of Congress, http://www.loc.gov/rr/scitech/tracer-bullets/poisonplantstb.html (Accessed December 1, 2007).

A pathfinder for resources held by the Library of Congress and online information of scientific repute in various media formats that contain information upon the subject of solar energy. These formats include books, reference works, conference proceedings, government publications, abstracts and indexes, journals and journal articles, internet resources and other selected materials.

In case of extraterrestrial invasion, one may have to resort to alternate means of survival in the area of foodstuffs. While a wide variety of plants possess excellent edible and medicinal qualities, several also possess poisons within them. Knowing which plants are safe and which are harmful could make the difference in whether one is able to outrun the aliens, or whether one stops to run.
