oftenly the land is acquired through compulsory acquisition, and during the proceedings the following sections of the said act is used: -
1. Section-4: Publication of preliminary notification and powers of officers thereupon.

Section-5: Payment of damages.Section-6: Declaration that land is required for a
public purpose.Section-7: After declaration Collector to take
order for acquisition.Section-8: Land to be marked out, measured
and planned.Section-9: Notice to persons interested.Section-10: Power to require and enforce the
making of statements as to names and interests
Section-11: Enquiry and award by Collector.

Amendment has been made in Land Acquisition Act 1894 by inserting Section 11-A and 11-B.
11-A. Acquisition through private negotiations.1. There should be no private negotiation for
acquiring land under this Act, except as provided is sub-section(2).

• (2) The Head of the Department concerned of Government or the Ministry concerned of the Federal Government, as the case may be, may, where expedient, request the Collector of the District concerned in writing to acquire land through private negotiations which shall be subject to such instructions of directions as Government may, from time to time, issue in this behalf.

11-B. Process of acquisition.The whole process of acquisition of land should
be completed within a period of six months from the date of notification under section-4, or where it is not completed within the stipulated period, the reason for delay shall be explained by the Collector in his award, which, if not satisfactory, may hold him personally responsible for the delay and may result in disciplinary proceedings against him.
