GOVERNMENT OF KERALA HEALTH & FAMILY WELFARE (P) DEPARTMENT NOTIFICATION G.O.(P) No. 395/2012/H&FWD Dated, Thiruvananthapuram, 27.11.2012. In order to ensure proper TB diagnosis and case management, reduce TB transmission and address the proble n i s of emergence and spread of Drug Resistant TB, it is essential to have complete information o all TB cases. Therefore, Govt. of India, as per Notification No. Z-28015/2/2012-TB da ed 07.05.2012, made TB a notifiable Disease. This has made it mandatory for health c tr e providers including clinical establishment run or managed by the Government, Co-oper a tive, Private, NGO sector and individual practitioners to notify every TB cases detected in th prescribed monthly report format for TB notification, annexed hereto (Annexure I) to the District Medical Officer (Health) through District TB Officer of the concerned District. For the purpose c f case notification a TB case is defined as follows: i) A patient bacilli, or Rapid Diag agnosed with at least one sputum specimen positive for acid fast i lture-positive for Mycobacterium tuberculosis, or RNTCP endorsed ostic molecular test positive for tuberculosis. ii) A patient diagnosed clinically as a case of tuberculosis, without microbiologic confirmation, and initiated on anti-TB drugs. 2)

NOTIFICATION

G.O.(P) No. 395/2012/H&FWD Dated, Thiruvananthapuram, 27.11.2012.

In order to ensure proper TB diagnosis and case management, reduce TB transmission

and address the problen is of emergence and spread of Drug Resistant TB, it is essential to have

complete information o all TB cases. Therefore, Govt. of India, as per Notification No.

Z-28015/2/2012-TB da ed 07.05.2012, made TB a notifiable Disease. This has made it

mandatory for health c tre providers including clinical establishment run or managed by the

Whereas, it is ex sedient to endorse and publish the notification issued by Govt. of India

as above, directives is h reby issued that every medical practitioner who, in the course of his/her

practice, becomes cog izant of the existence of any type of TB cases, shall report the

information to the Dis ct Medical Officer (Health) through District TB Officer of the

concerned District whos contact details are annexed to this Notification (Annex ure -I l).

For more detailed nformation, official designated for the purpose, whose contract details

are annexed hereto, shal be contacted. (Annexure III).
