During the orientation students were given a feel of the college and also the facilities available in the college. It tried to create confidence among the rural students about the use of English. The Chief librarian enlightened the students about the library. The Physical Education teacher briefed them about the facilities available in the college and also the opportunities available to them to showcase their talent.

It conducted meetings periodically to discuss the academic and co curricular activities. It planned a number of special lectures and other value added programmes in association with different departments.

AS the college is not admitted under 12B no research grants are available either from UGC or from any other external funding agency. The Department of Collegiate education released Rs 30,000/- to the colleges to keep the IQAC functional.

A part of this amount is used to promote research climate in the college by conducting several programmes for students in association with various departments.

Project work, field work, data collection and seminar presentations are encouraged. This has gone a long way in developing research orientation in the students. It has made them self-confident and socially responsive. So far, the college has nearly 70 student reports on various issues, related to Nanjangud. This year, 16 reports are added to this list. The IQAC has published the reports of earlier years.

The IQAC arranged talks by resource persons on various topics and they were followed by discussions. Both the teachers and the students participate in these discussions. This increased the inquisitiveness and the spirit of enquiry among the teachers and the students.

This being a government college, the management is the Government itself. Principal Secretary for higher education being the highest authority, then the hierarchy continues through the Commissioner, Director, Assistant Director, Joint Director and the Principal. At the college level leadership rests with the Principal, who is the head of the institution. Then the College Council which includes all the Heads of the Department, librarian and the Office Manager. Periodical meetings are held. Frequent interaction with the staff and the office ensure the effective working of the system.

1 Ill equipped Chemistry lab and lack of space was the major grievance. – It is redressed to some extent with the grants from the government and now Jubilant company has also come forward to extend a helping hand.

2 Shortage of rooms – Redressed Department of Commerce and Management has been moved to the new premises

where Nine rooms are available. The higher authorities and requested to sanction further grants to build fist and

second floor and also larger rooms to accommodate laboratories.

3 Some personal issues – They have been counselled.

The university reviews and revises the curriculum usually once in three years. The college implements the same as per the directions of the university. The college tries to enrich the curriculum through different inputs by the teachers in each department.

For effective teaching and learning college relies more on activities like Seminars, Assignments, special lecture, field survey, project presentation, quiz and discussions. EDUSAT programs are telecast by the Department of Collegiate Education and students watch the programme. The Mentor ward system which was newly introduced this academic year has also helped in identifying the problems of the students and redress at least some of them.

Examination and evaluation are conducted as per the academic calendar of the university. Internal tests are conducted centrally and marks are uploaded. Blue books are maintained. Apart from tests different other activities like Field survey and project presentation, conversation presentation, individual and group seminars are considered for evaluation.

As the college is not yet recognised under 2f and 12B of the UGC, it does not receive any grants from either UGC or other research funding agencies. In spite of it there is research environment in the college. There are doctorate holders who are working further in their respective areas. AS many as four teachers are pursuing their doctoral studies. IQAC also takes initiative in creating a research orientation among the students by involving them in research activities like field survey, report writing and project presentation.

In spite of being a young college, the library has a good collection of books and magazines. Library automation is yet to take place. The staff has internet access. Reprographic facility is available in the library for the staff.

Human resource management is centralized and is looked after by the Department of Collegiate Education. Work load for each department is sent to the Department of Collegiate Education. Vacancies are notified and transfers are done through counselling.
