SECOND COUNSELING CUM ADMISSION NOTIFICATION

Second Counseling for admission into Vessel Navigator Course(VNC) and Marine

Fitter Course (MFC) of 2 years duration for the year 2019-2020 will be held at CIFNET,

Fine Arts Avenue, Ernakulam-16 on 29.07.2019 at 0900 hrs with following conditions

for the allotment of Training Centre (ie, CIFNET Kochi/ Chennai/ Visakhapatnam). The

candidates who are provisionally selected on merit as well as wait listed are directed to

attend counseling.

1. The candidates who are attending counseling have to pay an initial deposit of Rs. 4200/-

(Sl.No. 5a – I & IX) by Demand Draft drawn in favour of “Senior Administrative Officer,

CIFNET” payable at Ernakulam-16 which will be adjusted against tuition fee and the

remaining fee has to be paid in the allotted Training Centre and the Candidates have the

option to select the Training Centre (ie, CIFNET Kochi/Chennai/Visakhapatnam) as per the

Rank list on the day of Counseling itself. If there is no vacancy in the opted training centre,

the second or third option of training centre will be allotted as per the availability of seat.

2. The candidates who are attending Counseling are informed to bring all originals certificates,

like SSLC/HSC/Community certificate (if SC/ST), Transfer Certificate (TC) Hall Ticket

issued by CIFNET for appearing Entrance Examination. However, the Migration certificate

for the candidates belonging to other States can be submitted in the respective training centre

on the day of joining.

3. If a candidate has already been admitted or pursing a course in an Institution and has

deposited all the original certificates in an Institution, a bonafide letter from the Head of the

Institution may be produced to that effect. In such case only, copies of certificates attested by

Head of the Institution will be accepted. However the original allotment order will be

withheld till the original certificates are verified.

4. The Candidate has to attend the Counseling at his/her own cost.

As such, Shri/Miss --------------------------------------------------(Reg no.--------------) is

informed that he/she has been provisionally selected for the CIFNET Counseling cum

Admission into Vessel Navigator Course/ Marine Fitter Course conducted at Cochin/

Chennai/ Visakhapatnam as a merit list / wait list candidate of Sl. No……… as

General/SC/ST category. He/she is directed to report for counseling at CIFNET Kochi

only.

1. The counseling cum admission notification issued now is only provisional and it will be

confirmed only after ascertaining the candidate’s suitability/medical fitness. The

Institute/ the trainee will have the option to terminate the training at the end of a fishing

cruise or within one month of training with full refund of deposit amounts on payment

of tuition fee and lodging charges for 6 months, mess charges for the month (s) he

attended training, and on effecting recoveries for damage/loss, if any without forfeiting

the bond amount and in all cases of discontinuance after one month, only caution

deposit will be refunded.

2. The candidates selected for Vessel Navigator Course, should produce eye sight test pass

certificate as per NEW ENTRY STANDARD regulations prescribed by the Mercantile

Marine Department, Ministry of Surface Transport, Government of India, at the time of

admission. For obtaining this certificate he may appear for the test on payment of the

prescribed fee, along with identity certificate such as SSLC certificate( with

identification marks) or Hall Ticket issued by CIFNET (with photograph), to the

Medical Practitioner approved by the Director General of Shipping as per the Rule 4 of

M.S (Medical Examination ) Rules, 2000. The address of the Medical Practitioners is

available in CIFNET offices or in the website http://www.dgshipping.nic.in.

3. Monthly stipend @ Rs.1500/- p.m for 24 months during the training period will be paid

by this Institute, on submission of a Surety Bond for Rs.20,000/- (Rupees Twenty

thousand only) within one month after joining for training in the prescribed format (copy will be given at the time of admission) to be typed on stamp paper and executed by the

candidate’s father/guardian as obligor and sponsoring agency as surety. A bank guarantee or a

solvency certificate issued by revenue authority for Rs.20,000/- in the name of surety/obligor

should be produced along with the bond. The Surety Bond should be authenticated by

affixing the signature of both Parent/Guardian and Surety at the bottom of each page of it.

4. He will have to compulsorily reside in the Institute Hostel for which hostel rent of Rs

2400/- annually (subject to revision) will be collected. Boarding expenses will also have to

be met by him.

5. The candidate has to remit the amounts shown below as per the rules of the Institute.

a) First installment (at the time of admission)

I. Tuition fee - Rs. 1800/-

II. Caution Deposit - Rs. 2000/-

III. Fishing vessel mess deposit - Rs. 2100/-

IV. Study tour Deposit - Rs. 1600/-

V. Hostel Mess Deposit - Rs. 3000/-

VI. Sports fee - Rs. 400/-

VII. Magazine fee - Rs. 200/-

VIII. Council fee - Rs. 25/-

IX. Hostel rent (Annual) - Rs. 2400/-

X. Computer & Internet Facility - Rs. 400

XI. Swimming Fee - Rs. 1000/-

XII. Lab Fee - Rs. 250/-

Total - Rs.15175/-

2) Examination fee as per the NCVT norms is payable before the examinations

3) Fee for the second year has to be paid at the beginning of the 2nd

year

The unspent amount, if any out of the deposits (II), (III), (IV) & (V) above will be

refunded on completion of the training course. In the case of the candidates

discontinuing the training in the middle of the course, either or their own or as a sequel

to any disciplinary action they or their Guarantor/ Sponsorer will have to pay the

Government the proportionate cost of their training that would be decided by the

Director of the Institute, as and when such instances occur.

6. If the waiting list candidates are admitted on the day counseling, they have to produce the

original certificates alongwith one set of photo copies in the same day. However, they will be

permitted to remit the counseling fee of Rs. 4200/-within 4 days, ie, 02.08.2019 at HQ failing

which their admission will be cancelled without any notice.

7. If a candidate has already been admitted or pursing a course in an Institution and has

deposited all the original certificates in an Institution, a bonafide letter from the Head of the

Institution may be produced to that effect. In such case only, copies of certificates attested by

Head of the Institution will be accepted. However the original certificate should be submitted

to this office on the day of admission ie, on or before 02.08.2019.

8. Due to unforeseen and unavoidable reasons, if a candidate is unable to attend the counseling

on the date and time mentioned above, the candidate can not claim for admission as a right, as

the vacant seat will be filled on the same day itself with the waitlist candidates.

9. He should produce a Physical Fitness Certificate from a Govt. Medical Officer to the

effect that he is physically fit to undergo strenuous training at sea. 10. He should bring all his original certificates in support of age, qualification, experience

etc. and in the case of SC/ ST candidates, Community Certificates from Revenue

authorities clearly specifying that the candidates belong to SC / ST.

11. He should abide by the rules and regulations of the Institute with regard to discipline,

attendance, uniforms, co-curricular activities etc. Wearing the prescribed uniform is

compulsory.

12. He should also give an undertaking/ declaration that he will undergo the training at his own

risk. Formal declaration by the candidate/parent has to be furnished to the effect that any

action as deemed fit will be initiated if the individual is involved in the Ragging.

13. If any vacancy arises on the day of counseling cum admission, the vacant seat will be

filled with the wait list candidates on the same day itself ie, 29.07.2019.

14. After receiving the Confirmation of Admission letter from CIFNET on the day

counseling, the candidates are directed to report at the respective allotted Training

Centre (ie, CIFNET, Kochi/Chennai/Visakhapatnam) with the remaining fee & other

necessary documents ie, Director, CIFNET, Fine Arts Avenue, Ernakulam/Deputy

Director, CIFNET Unit, 59, S.N.Chetty Street, Royapuram, Chennai-13/Deputy

Director, CIFNET Unit, Fishing Harbour, Beach Road, Visakhapatnam-1 for

admission on 02.08.2019 at 09.00 hrs and the regular classes will commence on

01.08.2019.
