Availability of Prospectus & Application Form
Prospectus is available only as PDF document on GMCH Website
gmch.gov.in for viewing/downloading. It is not available in the printed form.
Application form is available online only at GMCH Website. Candidate has to
fill this online application form and submit it online once completed.
Application form is not available in the printed form.
Candidates are advised to go through the admission notice published in the
newspaper and instructions given in the prospectus carefully before
filling-up the online Application Form.
After submitting the completed online application form, candidate should take
out print, which along with necessary annexures should be submitted to
GMCH by due date (Room No. 228 A). Only those candidates who submit
printout of completed online application form along with specified
annexures and application fee by due date will be included in the list of
candidates eligible to appear for counseling subject to fulfillment of
other eligibility criteria specified in the prospectus.
Candidates are advised to keep a copy of printout of the application form
submitted online for their reference.
Application fee: Application fee can be paid online Rs. 500/- (General Category)
+ Bank charges (if any) Rs. 300/- (SC Category) + Bank charges (if any)

PG-1: General Information and Number of Seats
The Govt. Medical College & Hospital, Sector-32, Chandigarh invites
application for admission to three year Postgraduate Degree Courses
(MD/MS) for the year-2018.
The total numbers of seats for admission in the year 2018 are 125 which are
divided into All India Quota (AIQ) and UT Chandigarh Pool as below:
I. All India Quota (AIQ): 63 Seats. In compliance of the Supreme Court
decision, 50% of total numbers of seats are reserved for All India
Quota.
II. UT Chandigarh Pool: 62 Seats. The 50% of total number of seats are
reserved for students who have passed their MBBS examination from
Medical Institutions of Union Territory, Chandigarh. Out of this, 15%
seats are reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC).

** Distribution of seats:
I. The departments having one seat will have All India Quota allocation
every alternative year.
II. The departments having two seats will have All India Quota allocation
of one seat each every year.
III. The departments having three seats will have All India Quota allocation
of one and two seats every alternative year.
IV. Allocation of discipline for 15% Scheduled Castes category seats (UT
Chandigarh Pool) will be made by rotation in alphabetic order of the
discipline.
Important Note:
***In calculation of percentage of seats for reserved category/categories the
figure has been rounded off to lower whole number if decimal point is less
than 0.5 and to higher whole number if the decimal point is 0.5 or more.
PG-2: Eligibility Criteria for All India Quota, State Quota (UT Chandigarh Pool)
and leftover seats if any
1. Only Indian citizens are eligible to apply.
2. A candidate must have come in the merit list of NEET- PG 2018 by securing
following minimum marks*:
General Category: not less than 50 Percentile
SC Category: not less than 40 Percentile
*If the Central Government in consultation with Medical Council of India may
at its discretion lower the minimum marks required for admission to Post
Graduate Course for candidates belonging to respective categories, then
these marks so lowered by the Central Government shall be applicable for
admission to the MD/MS courses in GMCH also.

3. The candidates should have completed compulsory rotatory internship
satisfactorily by 31st March, 2018.
4. Registration with MCI/State Medical Council is necessary.
PG-3: Procedure for Applying for State Quota (UT Chandigarh Pool) and
leftover seats if any
Procedure for applying is as depicted in flowchart below. All steps are
mandatory to complete the application process.
1. Application form is available online only at GMCH Website. Candidate has to
fill-up the application form online and submit it online once completed. The
application form is not available in printed form.
2. Before applying, candidates are advised to go through the admission notice
published in the newspaper and instructions given in the prospectus carefully
and then fill in the online Application Form.
3. All candidates have to fill application form online, available at GMCH Website
www.gmch.gov.in. and submit the same by due date as mentioned in
concerned Pools.
4. Category of reservation should be entered in the prescribed column of the
online application form. No addition of category of reservation will be
allowed once form has been submitted.
5. After submitting completed application form online, one printout along with
self-attested photocopies of applicable annexures as detailed below should be

submitted either personally or if sent by post/courier, it should reach GMCH
by due date and time:
i. NEET-PG 2018 Result card.
ii. NEET-PG 2018 Admit card.
iii. Matriculation certificate showing the date of birth.
iv. Detailed marks sheet for all MBBS professionals examinations.
v. Internship completion certificate.
vi. MCI/State Medical Council registration certificate.
vii. Character and conduct certificate from the institution last attended
viii. Three passport size (5 cm x 4 cm) photographs.
ix. Scheduled castes candidates: The candidates belonging to
Scheduled Castes should submit a certified true copy of Scheduled
Caste certificate as per format enclosed at Appendix I. It should be
signed and countersigned by the competent authority mentioned
therein.
x. Important condition for employed candidate(s): Candidate in
employment of Govt./Semi Govt./Autonomous bodies/Corporation must
submit ‘No Objection Certificate’ from his/her employer.
xi. Receipt of payment of application fee online
xii. Any other document as applicable
6. Printout alongwith relevant annexures should be submitted in a sealed
envelope, with top of the envelope clearly labeled “APPLICATION FOR
MD/MS COURSES 2018” at following address:

7. Application received after due date and time shall not be entertained under
any circumstances, whatsoever, regardless of the fact whether the application
is submitted by hand or sent by post or through courier or by any other
means. The GMCH, Chandigarh does not take any responsibility for any
postal delay or delay in delivery by courier or by any other means or for loss in
transit of the Application Form.

8. Only those candidates who have submitted printout of online application form
alongwith specified annexure by hand by due date and time or if sent by
post/courier have reached GMCH by due date and time, will be included in the
list of candidates eligible to appear for counseling subject to fulfillment of other
eligibility criteria specified in the prospectus.
9. Submission of application form ipso facto, not entitles a candidate to get
admission. It will be subject to laid down eligibility and admission criteria. It
will be the responsibility of the candidate to make sure about his/her eligibility
and fulfillment of such other conditions as may be prescribed for admission in
the rules and regulations of Panjab University & Govt. Medical College &
Hospital, Sector-32, Chandigarh.
10. List of eligible candidates will be displayed on GMCH website
www.gmch.gov.in
Important note:
a) The candidates are not allowed to make any change in the printout of
application submitted online by way of any
addition/deletion/alteration/amendment/change of any particular etc.
under any circumstances.
PG-4: Application fee for State Quota (UT Chandigarh Pool) and leftover seats
if any

Fill details including online submitted application ID and applicable amount (Rs. 500
for General category, Rs. 300 for SC) and ‘Click’ on Submit
Verify details and confirm this transaction by ‘Clicking’ on Confirm
Select payment method i.e. Credit card/Debit card/Payment wallet/internet banking
etc and make payment. (State bank of India will levy transaction charges)

PG-5: Counseling & Admission for State Quota (UT Chandigarh Pool) and
leftover seats if any
1. The venue for all counseling will be:
Director-Principal Office, Level-II, D Block, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32-B, Chandigarh
2. Date and time of counseling shall be put on GMCH website www.gmch.gov.in.
No separate counseling letter will be issued.
3. No TA/DA will be paid for attending counseling.
4. The candidates should report at the counseling venue with any one of the
following photo identification proofs:

i. Aadhar
ii. Admit card of last exam passed/appeared by the candidates
iii. Passport.
iv. Driving license.
v. Voter identity card.
vi. PAN Card
5. The candidates should bring with them the following original documents at
the time of counseling:
i. NEET-PG 2018 Result card.
ii. NEET-PG 2018 Admit card.
iii. Matriculation certificate showing the date of birth.
iv. Detailed marks sheet for all MBBS professionals examinations.
v. Internship completion certificate.
vi. MCI/State Medical Council registration certificate.
vii. Reserved category (SC) certificate if applicable.
viii. Character and conduct certificate from the institution last attended.
ix. No Objection Certificate (NOC) if applicable.
x. Any other document(s) if applicable.
1. Admission will be made strictly on the basis of Rank secured in NEET-
PG 2018.
2. All eligible candidates, including candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes
category, will be considered for admission against General category seats
according to their rank in the combined list.
3. Candidate(s) belonging to Scheduled Castes category who obtains admission
in the General Category on the basis of his/her rank in the combined list shall
not be counted towards the seats reserved for the Scheduled Castes
category.
4. Choice of discipline will be offered at the time of compulsory personal
appearance before the Admission Committee in order of rank in combined
list/Reserved category. There are no marks for the counseling.
5. Sequence of counseling will be for General Category seats first, followed by
Reserved Category seats.
6. If an eligible candidate reports late for counseling when his/her turn according
to his/her rank has already been passed over, he/she will be considered as

per available seat/discipline at the time of his/her actual reporting in the
counseling.
PG-6: Admission under All India Quota Seats (63 Seats):
1. These seats will be allocated through online counseling by Medical
Counseling Committee (MCC) constituted by the Ministry of Health and
Family Welfare based on rank in NEET-PG 2018 conducted by National
Board of Examinations (NBE) for admission in postgraduate courses
(MD/MS) for the year 2018.
2. The candidates will be allocated to the Govt. Medical College & Hospital,
Chandigarh as per their preference in order of their rank in NEET-PG 2018.
3. The candidates also have to fulfill all relevant eligibility criteria as laid down in
the Information Bulletin for All India Post Graduate Medical Entrance
Examination 2018 issued by National Board of Examinations (NBE)
4. For more information, candidates can visit National Board of Examinations
(NBE) website: www.nbe.edu.in
5. All relevant clauses mentioned in this prospectus will also be applicable on All
India Quota candidates allocated to Government Medical College & Hospital.
PG-7: Admission for State Quota (UT Chandigarh Pool) seats (62 Seats):
1. Under this category, only those candidates are eligible to apply who have
passed their MBBS examination from Medical Institutions located within the
territorial boundary of Union Territory of Chandigarh.
2. However, for MS in Anatomy, candidates who have passed their MBBS
examination from Medical Institutions located outside the territorial boundary
of Union Territory of Chandigarh but have worked as demonstrator in the
Department of Anatomy, Govt. Medical College & Hospital, Sector-32,
Chandigarh, for one year or more, are also eligible to apply for MS Anatomy in
UT Chandigarh Pool seats as General Category departmental candidates.
However, they should have appeared in NEET-PG 2018 and fulfill all
applicable eligibility criteria.
3. 15% seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates.
4. Admission will be made strictly on the basis of rank secured in NEET-PG
2018.

5. Procedure for Applying for UT Chandigarh Pool Seats: Procedure for
applying for ‘UT Chandigarh Pool’ seats is as depicted in flowchart below. All
steps are mandatory to complete the application process.
Fill-in application for online
Submit filled-in application for online by 23.03.2018 by 5.00 p.m. and take printout
Submit printout of application submitted online alongwith required annexures to GMCH by 26.03.2018 by 4.00 p.m. to complete the application
1. All UT Chandigarh Pool candidates have to fill application form online,
available at GMCH Website www.gmch.gov.in.
2. Last date of submitting completed application form online is 23.03.2018 upto
5.00 pm.
3. Category of reservation should be entered in the prescribed column of the
online application form. No addition of category of reservation will be
allowed once form has been submitted.
4. One printout of online submitted form along with self-attested photocopies
of applicable annexures should be submitted either personally or if sent by
post/courier should reach GMCH by 26.03.2018 upto 4.00 pm.
5. Application received after 26.03.2018 shall not be entertained under any
circumstances, whatsoever, regardless of the fact whether the application is
submitted by hand or sent by post or through courier or by any other means.
The GMCH, Chandigarh does not take any responsibility for any postal
delay or delay in delivery by courier or by any other means or for loss in
transit of the Application Form.
6. Only those candidates who have submitted printout of online application form

post/courier, the print out of application must reach GMCH by due date and

for 2nd or any subsequent counseling.
16. Seat(s) remaining unfilled from All India Quota shall be filled from
eligible UT Chandigarh Pool General Category candidates.

17. Any seat(s) remaining unfilled from UT Chandigarh Pool SC Category on
account of non-availability of eligible candidates shall be filled from
eligible UT Chandigarh Pool General Category candidates as per
reservation policy of Chandigarh Administration applicable to Medical
institutions in the Union Territory of Chandigarh, notified vide letter No.
19/1/3/93/IH(3)/11138, Dated: 07.06.1995.
PG-8: Procedure to fill Leftover Seats, If Any
1. If seat(s) remain unfilled after second counseling for UT Chandigarh Pool
candidates for any reason whatsoever, applications will be invited from
candidates not belonging to UT Chandigarh Pool. They will be hereby called
“Other than UT Chandigarh Pool” candidates.
2. UT Chandigarh Pool candidates, who are already in the original list of eligible
UT Chandigarh Pool candidates, need not apply afresh. They will continue to
remain eligible for participation in the counseling for these leftover seats
(preference).
3. Provisional number of leftover seats available, their discipline and category-
wise distribution i.e. General Category or Scheduled Castes Category will be
notified on GMCH website www.gmch.gov.in. after the second counseling.
PG-8.1: Categories of ‘Other than UT Chandigarh Pool’ candidates
1. Other than UT Chandigarh Pool candidates will be divided into two categories
as below:
A. Category-I: This category will include candidates with background of
Chandigarh. To be eligible for this category candidate should fulfill any of
the following criteria:
i. Studied for a period of 5 years in Union Territory of Chandigarh
ii. Children of persons who have resided in Union Territory of Chandigarh
for a period of at least 5 years at any time prior to the last date of the
submission of the application either in pursuit of a profession or holding
of a job.
iii. Children of persons who have held/hold immovable property in Union
Territory of Chandigarh for a period of five years at anytime prior to the
last date of the submission of the application. The property should be in
the name of the parents or the candidate himself/herself.

Important Note:
a) To be eligible for Category-I, candidate must submit a certificate to the
effect of any of the above mentioned criteria from DC-cum-Estate
Officer of Chandigarh or Principal of School/College located within the
UT Chandigarh
b) If a person is not eligible to obtain above mentioned certificate, he/she
can submit attested copies of rent agreement/electricity bills/landline
phone bills for 5 years in the name of parents along with certificate
from employer of service for 5 years in Chandigarh if in job or
certificate from relevant authorities of running a business/pursuing a
profession in Chandigarh for 5 years.
B. Category-II: This category includes candidates who have background of
States/UTs other than UT Chandigarh.
PG-8.2: Procedure for applying for ‘Other than UT Chandigarh Pool’
1. Candidates have to fill distinct online application form, designed for such
candidates. It will be available on GMCH Website www.gmch.gov.in from
after 2nd counseling for UT Chandigarh Pool candidates.
2. Last date of submitting completed application form online is 27.04.2018 upto
5.00 pm.
3. Category of reservation should be entered in the prescribed column of the
online application form. No addition of category of reservation will be
allowed once form has been submitted.
4. Candidates can pay application fee online.
5. One printout of online submitted application form along with self-attested
photocopies of applicable annexures should be submitted either personally or
if sent by post/courier should reach GMCH by 01.05.2018 upto 4.00 pm
6. Application received after 01.05.2018 upto 4.00 pm shall not be entertained
under any circumstances, whatsoever, regardless of the fact whether the
application is submitted by hand or sent by post or through courier or by any
other means. The GMCH, Chandigarh does not take any responsibility for
any postal delay or delay in delivery by courier or by any other means or for
loss in transit of the Application Form.
7. Only those candidates who have submitted on 01.05.2018 upto 4.00 pm
printout of online application form alongwith specified annexure by hand by

due date and time, if sent by post/courier have reached GMCH by due date
and time, will be included in the list of candidates eligible to appear for
counseling subject to fulfillment of other eligibility criteria specified in the
prospectus.
8. List of eligible candidates will be displayed on GMCH website
www.gmch.gov.in on 14.05.2018

PG-8.3: Counseling for leftover seats, if any
1. Counseling for eligible ‘UT Chandigarh Pool’ candidates as well as eligible
‘Other than UT Chandigarh Pool’ candidates will be held on the date which
will be notified on GMCH website.
2. Eligible UT Chandigarh Pool Category candidates will have first right on all
available seats including unfilled UT Chandigarh Pool SC Category seats as
already clarified before and as reproduced below:
Clause 14; Seat(s) remaining unfilled from All India Quota shall be filled
from eligible UT Chandigarh Pool General Category candidates.
Clause 15; Any seat(s) remaining unfilled from UT Chandigarh Pool SC
Category on account of non-availability of eligible candidates shall be
filled from eligible UT Chandigarh Pool General Category candidates as
per reservation policy of Chandigarh Administration applicable to
Medical institutions in the Union Territory of Chandigarh vide letter No.
19/1/3/93/IH(3)/11138, Dated: 07.06.1995.
3. Sequence of counseling will be as below:
‘UT Chandigarh Pool’ candidates
‘Other than UT Chandigarh Pool’ Category-I candidates
‘Other than UT Chandigarh Pool’ Category-II candidates
Admission will be made strictly on the basis of Rank secured in NEET-
PG 2018.
4. Only seat(s) left vacant after counseling for eligible UT Chandigarh Pool
candidate(s), will be available to ‘Other than UT Chandigarh Pool’ candidates.

5. If unfilled seat(s), from seats reserved for UT Chandigarh pool SC candidates,
are filled by General Category candidates of UT Chandigarh Pool, equal
number of General Category seats, if available, will be reserved for SC
candidates in the ‘Other than UT Chandigarh Pool’ in the available
discipline(s) next in the reservation roster as outlined in the distribution of
seats** above. The total seats reserved for SC candidates (SC candidates
from ‘UT Chandigarh Pool’ as well as SC candidates from ‘Other than UT
Chandigarh Pool’ combined together) will not exceed 15% (9 of 62 for
admission year 2018) as per the notified policy of Chandigarh Administration
on reservation for SC.
6. Final list of available seats, their discipline and category wise distribution
would be put up outside counseling hall before the start of counseling for
‘Other than UT Chandigarh Pool’ candidates.
7. First preference will be given to Category-I ‘other than UT Chandigarh Pool’
candidates.
8. Eligible candidates under Category-I will be admitted first even if candidates
under Category-II are higher in merit rank in NEET-PG 2018.
9. These candidates (Other than UT Chandigarh Pool) shall be admitted, as per
their preference of discipline if available, in order of their rank in the NEET-PG
2018 conducted by National Board of Examinations (NBE) for the year 2018.
10. If an eligible candidate reports late for counseling when his/her turn according
to his/her rank has already been passed over, he/she will be considered as
per available seat/discipline at the time of his/her actual reporting in the
counseling.
11. All eligible candidates, including candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes
category, will be considered for admission against General category seats
according to their rank in the combined list of their respective category i.e.
Category-I or Category-II.
12. Candidate(s) belonging to Scheduled Castes category who obtains admission
in the General Category on the basis of his/her rank in the combined list shall
not be counted towards the seats reserved for the Scheduled Castes
category.
13. If seat(s) available for ‘Other than UT Chandigarh Pool’ Scheduled Caste
candidates remain unfilled on account of non-availability of eligible SC

candidates, firstly from Category-I failing which from Category-II, they shall be
filled from eligible ‘other than UT Chandigarh Pool’ General Category
candidates firstly from Category-I failing which from Category-II,
14. Candidates selected from ‘Other than UT Chandigarh Pool’, have to undergo
medical examination on the day of counseling. If found medically fit, they have
to join on the day of counseling itself failing which offer of admission is liable
to be withdrawn and seat so vacated will be offered to the next eligible
candidate.
15. All other relevant clauses mentioned in this prospectus will also be applicable
on these candidates.
16. If any seat(s) is left vacant after counseling on 25.04.2018, number of
available seats and their discipline will be notified on GMCH website
www.gmch.gov.in. on evening of 25.04.2018.
17. Candidates who have been included in the list of eligible UT Chandigarh
Pool and Other than UT Chandigarh Pool as displayed on GMCH website
on 28.03.2018 and 14.05.2018 respectively and desirous of obtaining
admission against these vacant seats should reach office of Director-
Principal by 10.00 am on 17.05.2018. . All such candidates shall be
considered together and offered admission against available
seats/discipline according to his/her rank in NEET PG- 2018.
18. Candidate(s), who has not submitted online and printout of application
form by due dates or who haven’t been included in the list of eligible
candidates displayed on 28.03.2018 and 14.05.2018 will not be
considered for admission against these seat(s) under any
circumstances.
19. Candidates selected have to undergo medical examination on the same day.
If found medically fit, they have to join on 01.05.2018 itself failing which offer
of admission is liable to be withdrawn.
20. All other relevant clauses mentioned in this prospectus will also be applicable
on these candidates.
21. Admission process for all categories and pools will be completed by the
closing time of office hours on 18.05.2018. .
PG-9: General Conditions Applicable on All Selected Candidates

Following general conditions will be applicable on all candidates whether
selected against All India Quota seats or UT Chandigarh Pool seats or
leftover seats filled by Other than UT Chandigarh Pool candidates:
1. The selected candidates will have to undergo medical examination by the
constituted Medical Board at the time of their admission to the course.
Candidates found medically fit shall be granted admission.
2. The candidates who do not appear before the medical board or are found
medically unfit shall not be allowed to join the course.
3. The original certificates of the selected candidates will be retained by the
college till the completion of the MD/MS course.
4. The original certificates of the selected candidates shall be returned only if the
seat is surrendered in writing by the candidate before the last date of
admission schedule approved by Panjab University.
5. If any candidate(s), who joins the MD/MS course, leaves the said course
within one year, after last date of admission schedule approved by
Panjab University, penalty of Rs. 5.00 Lac will be imposed on such
candidate(s) as per instructions issued by Directorate General of Health
Services (Medical Examination Cell), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare,
Govt. of India vide letter No. U.12021/22/2011- MEC, Dated 8th September,
2011 and adopted by Chandigarh Administration vide letter No. 1260-FII(6)-
2012/6707, Dated 11th July, 2012 as applicable to Govt. Medical College &
Hospital, Sector-32, Chandigarh. Original certificates submitted at the time
of admission will be returned only after the above said penalty amount has
been deposited. The penalty of Rs 5.0 lacs will not be waived off if a
candidate leaves the seat after the cutoff date even if the seat is filled up
subsequently.
6. In case the information furnished or certificates/documents submitted by the
candidate are found to be fake or is found to have withheld or concealed
information in the application form, his/her admission shall stand cancelled
and the fee deposited shall be forfeited. In addition he/she may also face legal
action under the law of the land.
7. The entire admission process will be closed as per schedule decided by
MCI/Panjab University as applicable and no admission will be entertained
thereafter.

8. All legal disputes relating to admission of students will be subject to courts
having jurisdiction in Chandigarh.
9. Ordinarily, admissions shall be made strictly in accordance with the
rules/criteria mentioned in this prospectus. However, in all matters which
need interpretation or for which no provision exists in the prospectus, the
decision of the Admission Committee shall be final. No correspondence will
be entertained regarding rejection or disqualification of any candidate.
10. All admissions to MD/MS courses shall be provisional and subject to the
approval by Panjab University/Medical Council of India.
11. Any directions/order governing admissions to any of the course from the
Government/Hon’ble courts/Regulatory bodies will be binding on all
candidates.
12. The Rules and Regulations, including fee to be charged, are subject to
revision and amendment from time to time and the revised decision(s) will be
applicable irrespective of those given in this prospectus.
13. Notwithstanding anything contained in this prospectus, the eligibility
conditions for admission shall be governed by the respective rules/regulations
of the Panjab University/MCI/Govt. Medical College & Hospital, Sector-32,
Chandigarh. In case of any conflict or inconsistency between the prospectus
on the one hand and the aforesaid Panjab University Rules and Regulations/
Guidelines/ Hand-Book of information/decisions of Senate/Syndicate or MCI
rules/regulations or rules/regulations of the Govt. Medical College & Hospital,
Sector-32, Chandigarh on the other, the latter shall prevail.
14. Decision of admission committee in all matters related to counseling
and admission will be final.
PG-10: Contract
1. Each Post-Graduate Junior Resident will be on contract service for a period of
three years and will be required to execute a contract bond on a non-judicial
stamp paper of Rs.10/-. Copy of language of the bond to be executed can be
obtained from gmch website. The bond, duly completed in all respects, shall
be required to be submitted at the time of joining along with Indemnity bond
(copy can be downloaded from GMCH website.

PG-11: Fee
1. Tuition Fee Payable by the postgraduate Junior Residents will be as follows
and the other fee/funds will be as per Panjab University subject to revision
from time to time which currently is as under:
First year : Rs.22,000 per annum.
Second year : Rs.24,500 per annum.
Third year : Rs.27,500 per annum.
2. Other fees, funds and hostel charges payable by the selected candidates
shall be separate as per orders issued by Chandigarh Administration from
time to time.
3. In case of surrender of seat, the fees and other funds deposited at the time of
admission will be refunded as per instructions issued by the
Department/University as below:
a. The candidates who are admitted to the course and want to surrender the
seat prior to the last date of admission schedule approved by Panjab
University, may be refunded the entire amount of fees and funds collected at
the time of counseling after retaining Rs.1000/-(Rupees One thousand only)
as administrative/processing charges. .
b. In case of a candidate who shifts to other discipline at 2nd or subsequent
counseling, the fees and other funds deposited at the time of first admission
shall stand transferred.
PG-12: Stipend
1. As per Punjab Government pattern and adopted by Chandigarh
Administration vide letter no 7000/1/50/2010-F & PO(7) applicable to Govt.
Medical College & Hospital, Sector-32, Chandigarh, under which selected
candidates, called Junior Residents, will be paid stipend equal to the minimum
of the Pay Band plus Grade Pay in the Pay scale of Rs.15600-39100+5400
Grade pay, plus the Dearness Allowance admissible thereon from time to
time. No increment or any other allowance etc. shall be admissible to them for
three years during PG course or as amended by the Govt. from time to time.

PG-13: Duties and Responsibilities
1. Duties and responsibilities of Junior Residents shall be fixed by the Institution
from time to time. They will be required to perform such work as may be
needed in the legitimate interest of patient care in the hospital.
2. Ragging in any form is banned in educational institutions. If a student is
found to have indulged in ragging, strict action will be taken against that
student, which includes expulsion from the institution and other legal action as
per law of the land.
PG-14: Maintenance of Logbook/Assessment
1. The Post-Graduate Junior Resident registered for MD/MS courses shall be
required to maintain logbook. At the end of first six months of the admission,
each Post-graduate Junior Resident will be assessed by theory and practical
evaluation. Besides, there will be periodic assessment during their tenure and
logbook maintained.
PG-15: Submission of Protocol and Thesis
1. The Post-Graduate Junior Resident registered for MD/MS courses shall be
required to apply for plan of thesis protocol through their departmental
Academic Committee and submit the same to the Academic Section, GMCH,
Sector-32/B, Chandigarh by 30th September. There will be not be any
extension in the last date of submission. If a candidate fails to submit the
thesis protocol, his / her registration will stand cancelled.
2. The last date for submission of final thesis for the students registered for
MD/MS degree will be 31st October of third year. There will be no extension in
the last date of submission.
PG-16: Presentation/Publication of Paper
As per MCI, (Sub-clause “13.9) a postgraduate student of a postgraduate
degree course in broad specialities/super specialities would be required to :
i. Present one poster presentation/ read one paper at a national/state
conference

ii. One research paper should be published/accepted for publication/sent
for publication during the period of his postgraduate studies so as to
make him eligible to appear at the postgraduate degree examination.
PG-17: Leave Entitlement
1. Postgraduate Junior Residents during training will be entitled to following:
First year : 30 Days
Second year : 36 Days
Third year : 36 Days
2. In case of exigencies, Junior Residents can be denied leave.
3. These leaves cannot be carried forward.
4. Unutilized leaves cannot be en-cashed.
5. Junior Residents are not entitled to any other leave except that mentioned
above.
6. Residency as well as examination of Junior Residents, who avail of the leave
over and above their entitlement, will be extended.
