ACCREDITATION OF THE NAMIBIAN MARITIME AND FISHERIES INSTITUTE (NAMFI): NAMIBIA QUALIFICATIONS AUTHORITY ACT, 1996

In terms of regulation 7(3) of the Regulations for the Accreditation of Persons, Institutions or Organisations, published under Government Notice No. 124 of 28 August 2006, the Council of the Namibia Qualifications Authority (NQA) hereby publish the accreditation granted to the Namibian Maritime and Fisheries Institute (NAMFI) and the registration thereof on 24 July 2008, as set out in the Schedule.

b) The Council of the NQA accredits the Namibian Maritime and Fisheries Institute (NAMFI) to offer its courses from its Walvis Bay and Luderitz sites leading to the qualifications set out under paragraph (a).

c) The period of accreditation extends until 24 July 2011.

d) The Namibian Maritime and Fisheries Institute (NAMFI) must apply for re-accreditation in terms of regulation 12(1) of the Regulations for the Accreditation of Persons, Institutions or Organisations promulgated under Government Notice No. 124 of 28 August 2006 in such time as to enable Council to make a decision prior to the 24 July 2011.

e) Copies of the report of the NQA’s findings arising from the consideration of the application for accreditation by the Namibian Maritime and Fisheries Institute (NAMFI) are available from the Namibian Maritime and Fisheries Institute (NAMFI) or from the NQA.

In terms of regulation 7(3) of the Regulations for the Accreditation of Persons, Institutions or Organisations, published under Government Notice No. 124 of 28 August 2006, the Council of the Namibia Qualifications Authority (NQA) hereby publish the accreditation granted to the Industrial Craft Training Institute (ICTI) and the registration thereof on 25 September 2008, as set out in the Schedule.

d) The Industrial Craft Training Institute (ICTI) must apply for re-accreditation in terms of regulation 12(1) of the Regulations for the Accreditation of Persons, Institutions or Organisations promulgated under Government Notice No. 124 of 28 August 2006 in such time as to enable Council to make a decision prior to the 26 September 2010.

In terms of regulation 7(3) of the Regulations for the Accreditation of Persons, Institutions or Organisations, published under Government Notice No. 124 of 28 August 2006, the Council of the Namibia Qualifications Authority (NQA) hereby publish the accreditation granted to Barloworld Equipment Namibia and the registration thereof on 26 March 2009, as set out in the Schedule.

a) The Council of the Namibia Qualifications Authority (NQA) accredits the courses offered in Windhoek at 166 Mandume Ndemufayo Avenue leading to the following qualifications offered by the Barloworld Equipment Namibia:

(i) Certificate in Earthmoving Diesel Mechanics, with most units aligned best at NQF level 2 and 3 with few outcomes of learning aligned at NQF level 1 and 4.

b) The Council of the NQA accredits Barloworld Equipment Namibia to offer its courses from its Windhoek site at 166 Mandume Ndemufayo Avenue leading to the qualifications set out under paragraph (a).

c) The period of accreditation extends until 26 March 2012.

d) Barloworld Equipment Namibia must apply for re-accreditation in terms of regulation 12(1) of the Regulations for the Accreditation of Persons, Institutions or Organisations promulgated under Government Notice No. 124 of 28 August 2006 in such time as to enable Council to make a decision prior to the 26 March 2012.

e) Copies of the report of the NQA’s findings arising from the consideration of the application for accreditation by the Barloworld Equipment Namibia are available from the offices of Barloworld Equipment Namibia or from the NQA.

EXPANSION OF ACCREDITATION OF THE NAMIBIAN INSTITUTE OF MINING AND TECHNOLOGY (NIMT): NAMIBIA QUALIFICATIONS

AUTHORITY ACT, 1996

In terms of regulation 7(3) of the Regulations for the Accreditation of Persons, Institutions or Organisations, published under Government Notice No. 124 of 28 August 2006, the Council of the Namibia Qualifications Authority (NQA) hereby publish the expansion of accreditation granted to the Namibian Institute of Mining and Technology (NIMT) and the registration thereof on 12 November 2009, as set out in the Schedule.

SCHEDULE

a) The Council of the Namibia Qualifications Authority (NQA) extends the accreditation of the courses as offered by NIMT for artisan Training and National Training Certificate at Arandis to NIMT Northern Campus leading to the following qualifications offered by the Namibian Institute of Mining and Technology:

i. Boiler Maker ii. Diesel/Petrol Mechanic iii. Electrician iv. Fitter and Turner v. Instrument Mechanic vi. Millwright (Fitting) vii. Millwright (Electrical) viii. Carpentry/Joinery ix. Bricklaying x. Plumbing xi. Welding

(b) The expansion includes the following new courses to be offered at Arandis in a distance mode in conjunction with the Chamber of Mines of Namibia:

(i) Elementary Certificate in Mine Surveying (ii) Advanced Certificate in Mine Surveying (iii) Certificate of Competency in Mine Surveying (iv) National Vocational Training Certificate – Rigging Ropesman (Engineering Trade).

(c) The Council of the NQA accredits the Namibian Institute of Mining and Technology to offer its courses from its NIMT Northern Campus and Arandis leading to the qualifications set out under paragraph (a).

(d) The period of accreditation extends until 19 July 2010.

(e) The Namibian Institute of Mining and Technology must apply for re-accreditation in terms of regulation 12(1) of the Regulations for the Accreditation of Persons, Institutions or Organisations promulgated under Government Notice No. 124 of 28 August 2006 in such time as to enable Council to make a decision prior to the 19th July 2010.

In terms of regulation 7(3) of the Regulations for the Accreditation of Persons, Institutions or Organisations, published under Government Notice No. 124 of 28 August 2006, the Council of the Namibia Qualifications Authority (NQA) hereby publish the accreditation granted to the National Health Training Centre (NHTC) and the registration thereof on 12th November 2009, as set out in the Schedule.

a) The Council of the Namibia Qualifications Authority (NQA) accredits the courses offered in face to face mode leading to the following qualifications offered by the National Health Training Centre (NHTC):

(ii) Certificate in Pharmacist Assistants; and

(iii) Certificate in Radiographic Assistants.

b) The Council of the NQA accredits the National Health Training Centre (NHTC) to offer its courses from its Windhoek, Keetmanshoop, Otjiwarongo, Oshakati and Rundu sites leading to the qualifications set out under paragraph (a) – (i).

c) The Council of the NQA further accredits the National Health Training Centre (NHTC) to offer its courses from its Windhoek site leading to the qualifications set out under paragraph (a) – (i-ii).

d) The period of accreditation extends until 12th November 2012 and 12th November 2010 respectively.

e) The National Health Training Centre (NHTC) must apply for re-accreditation in terms of regulation 12(1) of the Regulations for the Accreditation of Persons, Institutions or Organisations promulgated under Government Notice No. 124 of 28 August 2006 in such time as to enable Council to make a decision prior to the 12th November 2010 and 12th November 2012 respectively.

f) Copies of the report of the NQA’s findings arising from the consideration of the application for accreditation by the National Health Training Centre (NHTC) are available from the National Health Training Centre (NHTC) or from the NQA.

b) Roads Construction and Maintenance

The unit standards in Road Construction and Maintenance now registered onto the NQF represents the occupational standard for Namibia relevant to the specific competences reflected as Titles for each unit standard. The Council expects all training courses related to any of the knowledge and skills covered in the unit standards listed for Road Construction and Maintenance at the NQF Levels shown and for which accreditation for the NQA is sought, to be now directed towards the attainment requirements of the relevant unit standards.

c) The Council anticipates that the unit standards listed above shall be reviewed during 2014 prior to them being re-registered on or withdrawn from the National Qualifications Framework.

d) Copies of the unit standards for Roads Construction and Maintenance and supporting quality assurance documents are available from the Roads Authority or from the NQA.
