Welcome to Gourmet Feast in the Valley – a family-friendly festival of food, music and fun as part of this year’s Western Australia Gourmet Escape presented by Westpac.

The McGowan Government, through Tourism Western Australia, is a proud sponsor of the Western Australia Gourmet Escape, a 10-day culinary festival showcasing the State’s world-class food and wine across three locations.

The festival’s expanded format presents an opportunity for people to discover more of our State’s picturesque vineyards, sweeping coastlines and vibrant capital city through a variety of events in the Swan Valley, Perth city and Margaret River.

Events play an important role in attracting visitors to our State who in turn support local businesses and jobs and help boost our economy.

The Western Australia Gourmet Escape will build on the success of the Margaret River Gourmet Escape in attracting world-class chefs and personalities to our State and put Western Australia on the map for local, interstate and international audiences.

The introduction of Gourmet Feast in the Valley gives the Swan Valley a share of this national and international spotlight, helping to cement its reputation as a culinary tourism hotspot. The week-end long celebration plays to the Swan Valley’s rustic charm, celebrating the region’s rich history and bountiful produce.

I hope you enjoy Gourmet Feast in the Valley and take the opportunity to further explore the attractions of the Swan Valley and surrounds.

THE FIRE PIT PRESENTED BY AUSTRALIAN

GOOD MEAT

If flame-licked meat, master butchery and a suitably smoking

soundtrack sound like your idea of a party, then make sure you head to the Feast Fire Pit presented by Australian Good

Meat to get your fill.

The Pit will host some of the hottest names in barbeque.

Watch culinary heavyweights like Marco Pierre White (UK)

and Jess Pryles (Austin, Texas) sear, sizzle and grill locally

sourced beef and lamb cuts over open flames, then wash down

their dishes with a fine local wine.

CREATE YOUR OWN GINWITH OLD YOUNG’S

Join the distillers from Old Young’s as they guide you through a tasting of three of their premium gins, before you take on the challenge to create your own! Receive a gin and tonic on arrival, learn all about how Paul Carmichael from Momofuku and Australian Champion Distiller James Young came to create the Official Gin of Gourmet Escape, then let your imagination run wild as you create your very own bespoke gin. You will leave with a

200mL bottle of your creation as well as a discount voucher for the Gourmet Escape Gin.

There’s never a dull moment on the Feast Main Stage, where hot music talent meets family entertainment.

On Saturday, The Rubens will headline the show, with Fergus James, DJ Andrew Levins, Odette Mercy

& Her Soul Atomics and kids’ act dirtgirl & Mother Earth performing earlier in the day. The Sunday line-

up includes WA darlings Abbe May, Carla Geneve and Web Rumors, with DJ Andrew Levins and kids’

entertainer, Justine Clarke.

LITTLE GROWERS GARDEN IN ASSOCIATION WITH

THE FOREVER PROJECT

A special garden for the little green thumbs, where they’ll learn how to grow

their own herbs, make compost from their kitchen scraps, grow the perfect native garden and more. Keep an eye out for

ABC Kids star dirtgirl, who will be visiting the garden to meet with all those budding

horticulturists!

SYNERGY CHILL-OUT LAWN Refresh and recharge at Synergy’s chill out space. With bean bags and crowd-favourite lawn

games including giant Jenga and Connect 4, there’s free activities for the whole family to enjoy. Synergy’s battery powered Solar on the Move generator will also be there to recharge your phone

with USB and wireless options available.

Our workshops and community talks are hands-on and fun for the whole family!

We have partnered with some of the best in the (Swan Valley) biz, who are devoted to their craft, teaching you cool tips and

tricks to improve those kitchen skills. Each class will celebrate local produce from the

Swan Valley region, with tastings along the way and recipes (or even samples!) to

take home with you. See workshop timetable on pages 14-17.

Fries loaded with cheese and ALL the extras, that’s what. Curb Your Hunger will be serving up both classic and beef poutines,

with hot wings on the side.

TAPI TRUCKThe ultimate Brazilian fusion,

with tapioca crepes in all flavours – chicken pesto, pulled beef, Calabrese pork sausage

and pesto mushroom. Don’t miss a side of crispy polenta chips or halloumi cheese and sago

blended with a capsicum sauce.

BAOLICIOUSHand-crafted Bao buns

made from scratch with an infusion of natural ingredients, blending Asian and Western

flavours. Crispy chicken, hoisin BBQ pork, Cajun soft shell crab, crispy honey tofu and

lemongrass popcorn chicken are all on the menu, alongside

sweet potato chips and apple n’ cabbage slaw.

FOOD FEAST A truck-load of eating options will be available in the Valley, as a selection of WA’s hottest food trucks go head-to-head with a range of pop-up bars and restaurants.

Restaurants are cash free and will only be accepting card payments.
