Fall Fashion Issue

Page 2: GottaGoGolf: Fall Fashion Issue 2014

When GottaGoGolf asked women designers to share imagesof their favorite outfits for fall golf, it was hardly a surprise thatgreat looks quickly began showing up in the in-box. The range of these outfits, however, might surprise womengolfers from the newbie to the avid club member. Some of theclothes could roam from boardroom to the first tee, others couldteam up with heels and go from the 18th green to dinner, andothers would work with many other athletic pursuits. But the designers promise all of them will keep you swingingfreely and – with the right shoes, of course – walking comfortably. I added one personal favorite I found online at the back of thiscollection. And if you’ll visit the GottaGoGolf blog, you’ll find aninformative post about what I think is the hottest (or, if youprefer, coolest) accessory right now for women golfers young and,uh, mature. Whatever you choose to wear, I hope you find some inspirationhere to keep playing long after the leaves have fallen.

P.S. Won’t you join the campaign for a women’s golf magazine (like this, but 10 times more substantial, with rules andetiquette, playing tips, destinations, profiles of stars and more) by clicking on the link to subscribe to GottaGoGolf’smonthly newsletter, and then sharing this special issue with your friends? Once the number of subscribers reaches20,000, we’ll be rolling out a new issue.

LINDA HIPP, President and Creative Founder of Lija Style, put together three must-have pieces forautumn in most of the country, and something for those places where leaves don’t fall. Break out the Fairway Pants (1), Whistler Jacket (2) and Apex Vest (3) for the chilly days. The pants, Hippsays, “are slim fitting and extremely flattering, made with a luxury technical stretch fabric with a lovely sheenfinish." There’s more warmth from the vest’s synthetic down and quilting. And if you’re in California, don’t you have to have the Swift Jacket (4) with the oversized collar shownopen over the long shorts at left? Hipp describes it as a “perfect midlayer jacket” in cold weather, but who’dwant to cover that up? “The inside is brushed for superior comfort,” she adds.

KRIS WORTMAN, VPof Design at EP Pro,chose two very differentlooks, the sporty ensemble“Essential Pieces” at right and thecountry club “Kings Landing” collectionat left. The first (right) – a stripedpolo (1) under a water resistantdouble-knit jacket (2) with EP Pro’spopular compression pant (3) – worksfor all of your weekend errands, workouts and walks. “You have a lookthat is at once pulled together, relaxed, and sporty!” says Wortman, whopromises those pants are “guaranteed tomake you look and feel a size smaller.”

The second outfit – inspired, Wortman says, by the medievalcostumes in TV's “Game of Thrones” -- pairs beautifully texturedsweater (4) in a solid color with tapestry jacquard print pant (5). “Beautiful Colors of Royalty and Medieval Gold – this storyhas a refined sensibility and offers that key selling asset ofversatility,” says the designer. “On the course, this look ispulled together and sharp…throw on heels and a few bangles andthe look takes you right to dinner with friends.”

CATHERINE FERRIGNO, CEO and Founder ofCatherine Wingate, paired her classic pants (1) withthe detailed, tailored Wingate blazer (2).That jacket makes for a look that Ferrigno’s fellowCEOs might favor, yet, she notes, “The inside isfleece, so very cozy. It has enough stretch to take afull swing." A key feature for a chief executive! This item was a limited release and has been sopopular this fall, most sizes are no longer available onthe website – you’ll have to go looking for it in selectpro shops, such as Hillcrest Country Club, GreenIsland CC, The Meadow Club, and Arizona CC. The heathered long-sleeve shirt (3) is perfect forcool-weather layering becauseit's made of a super-soft,moisture-wicking fabric. It comes in heathered blackor the eggplant shown here.

LESLIE CHOW, founder and designer of Iconic Sport, clearly lovesa black-and-white palette, but there’s plenty of room for accentcolor on her favorites. “I love this outfit (left) because with thermal leg warmers(1), youcan wear a skort(2), be warm and fashionable, and still able toswing and move freely. The graphic black and white of this zebraprint(3) and a pop of red color look polished but lively. The blackneck gaiter(4), skort and leg warmers create an elongated, flatteringline. We also have a great fleece vest in china red(5) or black to layeron top.” The vest (which comes in other colors as well) appears on outfit No. 2, over a long-sleeve mock turtle(6) and skinny pants(7).“The long sleeve mock turtle is one of our most popular styles, and I lovethis sophisticated geometric print in tonal greys and blacks,” says Chow, who typically uses luxuriously touchable fabrics that stretch. All of the pieces are UPF 50, machine washable and made in the USA.1

OK, I’m a sucker for tan, beige, cream and all of theneutral shades put together in one head-to-toe streamof fashion. This outfit from Daily Sports, a 20-year-oldSwedish company now run by the daughter of thefounders, looks fun for the course – warm enough for achilly day because of the long-sleeve polo (1), thewind-screening vest (2) and the whimsical hat. But I can’t help thinking how chic it wouldlook for dinner when the polo and vest are replaced by the shawl-collar Mallory pulloverthe model is wearing (unsensibly) tiedaround her neck, and the skinny pants (3)are accented with high heels. Alas, I couldn’t find the Mallory (4) online in any U.S. shops – or, for that matter, the Lola Pom-Pom hat. Time tobundle up for an overseas trip?
