New Pilgrim Path - Website of the Week. The ‘Voice of the Martyrs’ (VOM) is a nonprofit, interdenominational Christian missions organisation dedicated to serving persecuted members of our Christian family worldwide and leading other members of the body of Christ into fellowship with them. VOM was founded in 1967 by Pastor Richard Wurmbrand, who was imprisoned for 14 years in Communist Romania for his faith; his wife, Sabina, was imprisoned for three years. The Wurmbrands based these missions on Hebrews 13:3, which instructs us to “Remember the prisoners as if chained with them—those who are mistreated—since you yourselves are in the body also.” Access VOM at: www.NewPilgrimPath.ie
Feasts Celebrated This Week
• Friday 31st January is the Feast of St. John Bosco, Founder of the Salesians. He died in 1888. He worked with boys educating them for life. He is the Patron Saint of Youth and Catholic Publishers.
• Saturday 1st February is the Feast of St. Brigid. One of our Patron Saints. She was born in the year 454 and was renowned for hospitality, almsgiving and care of the sick. She died in the year 524 and she is honoured in several European countries.
• Sunday 2nd February - this year the Mass celebrated here be the Mass of the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord. It is the custom to bless candles on that day. It is a reminder of Simeon who recognised Christ as ‘A Light to reveal Jesus to the Nations’. Let us walk always as children of the light
PRAYER TO ST. SAINT BRIGID You were a woman of peace. You brought harmony where there was conflict. You brought light to the darkness. You brought hope to the downcast. May the mantle of your peace cover those who are troubled and anxious, and may peace be firmly rooted in our hearts and in our world. Inspire us to act justly and to reverence all God has made. Brigid you were a voice for the wounded and the weary. Strengthen what is weak within us. Calm us into a quietness that heals and listens. May we grow each day into greater wholeness in mind, body and spirit. Amen

Charity / Poor box donations.
Out of donations given recently to the Charity / Poor Box, a cheque for €600 has been given to “Knight Run” – a charity of the Order of Malta. This charity brings soup and sandwiches to the homeless on our streets and provides night clothing for those who sleep on the streets. It is a great work of compassion and care and one we are delighted to support through your donations. The Charity / Poor Box is located on the back wall to the left as you enter the Church Thank you for your support in helping those in need, especially our homeless women, men and families on the streets.
