VIEWPOINT

Editor's Note; This is in reply to lastmonth's article "Sorry, God Doesn't UseDrummers" sent in by a reader. We askedfor your comments or opinion on this andhere are some that have replied. We wouldlike to continue this column of Viewpoint. If you have a question, whether it be aboutthe Bible, instruments, etc.... write us. Wewin find someoHL' to answer or we will

print your letter and ask people to reply. We conclude that if it is done in a Christian

manner it will reap good results.

January 8,1980Dear Editor:

I praise God for the young people thatwill go on and use the talent that God hasgiven them. The church that won't let thedrums in - Why? Could it be that God is notthere. When God comes after his Church, Iguess there will be drummers coming withhim. But how about the church that has leftthe drumming out, What if God said,"Sorry I can't use you." This statementhas hurt so, if this one has stopped going tochurch. If you do it to one of my little ones, you do it also to me. Pastor, there's notthat many churches that don't like gospelgroups with drums. A group that wouldleave their drums at home, I would not letthem in at my church.

To Gospel Reaching Out:I'm glad you ask people's feeling about

drums. I never did hear any music fromdrums. I never did hear any music fromhand clapping while a good song is beingsung. I think if a group wants to soon be outof business, just do those two things.

Thanks,H.D. Carter

Hello, I'm Kevin Dorsey. I am 16 yearsold and I go to Hart County High School. Iplay the drums for the Dorsey Family andI have played for other groups.

I was saved at an old fashioned altar

when I was 10 years old. I do know whatthe Lord is about. I have gotten manyblessings playing for the Lor^.

I think people against Gospel Drummersare mislead. I believe there is nothingwrong with any musical instrument that isused for the honor and glory of God.Thanks, Leslie, for sticking up for thedrummers.

Kevin DorseyRural Route 1

Munfordville, Ky. 42765

This is in reply to the article "Sorry GodDoesn't Use Drummers", which appearedin your January issue.

Perhaps we are too quick to express ourdislikes or feelings sometimes withoutrealizing the impact it will have on others. If everyone liked the same instrument orsong, things would become very dull forus, but because we don't like a certain instrument doesn't make it wrong. I find thatcymbals are mentioned being used onthree occasions in the Bible. Aren't thecymbals a part of the drums? If it was per-missable then, why is it so wrong now?Anything could be misused.

I don't think any instrument beingplayed too loudly is appropriate for churchservice, but is he or she is using theirtalent for the glory of God, why shouldn'twe be for them, too.
