Examples of some highlights:

● $3.6 million dollars in scholarships were offered to our graduating seniors in 2014

● Ohio Achievement Assessments and Ohio Graduation Test passage rates were ranked #1 in Clermont County in 10th Grade Social Studies, 5th Grade Reading and 5th Grade Math

● World languages offered - Spanish and French

● 4 Dual Credit classes at GHS- Chemistry, Western Civilization, Art History, and Sociology. Students earn both college and high school credit on the high school campus.

Goshen Middle School (2012) and Spaulding Elementary School (2010 & 2012) have been recognized as “Schools of Promise” for their high academic achievement by the State of Ohio.

● Saturday morning free ACT prep classes offered.

● ACT Scores 3 year Composite Average =21

● GLSD ranked in the top 2% of the state on the gifted opportunity index, by providing opportunities for students identified as gifted to participate in quality programs.

● Performance Index was in the top 12% in the state in 2013 and top 14% in 2014. This means that Goshen students are scoring higher every year on state assessments.

● Opportunities for enrichment and intervention provide for a personalized educational experience.

● 7 Advanced Placement Classes offered at the high school: Literature, Composition, Government, Psychology, American History, Biology, and Calculus. These courses provide motivated and academically prepared students with the opportunity to study and learn at the college level on our campus. Students scored a 3 or higher on 67 tests, earning college credit at most universities.

● Goshen students recorded their highest test scores ever on the state assessments in 5th Grade Reading, 5th Grade Science, 5th Grade Math, 7th Grade Reading, 7th Grade Math, 8th Grade Reading, 8th Grade Math, 10th Grade Math, 10th Grade Social Studies, 11th Grade Reading and 11th Grade Science.

● Goshen High School 2014 Graduation Rate was 97%

● School Planning and Management Magazine article names Goshen Local School District a “highly productive school district” along with two other Ohio schools in July 2014 article evaluation education and return on investment”.

!Cincy Magazine named Goshen Schools as a “Best of the North 2014” school district.

!● Goshen HS was named to the AP Honor Roll by the College Board in 2013 for being one of the 477

school districts in the U.S. and Canada for simultaneously achieving increased access to Advanced Placement® courses for a broader number of students and also maintaining or improving the rate at which their AP students earned scores of 3 or higher on an AP Exam.

● Clermont Chamber of Commerce awarded Project More Reading program and sponsor Tori Herrera for an excellence in education award.

!Goshen High School was one of only 150 Ohio schools recognized in 2013 by the Ohio Department of Education for sustaining high academic achievement among their students. The Department

named 141 “Schools of Promise” and 37 “High Performing Schools of Honor” in 2013.

● Research based intervention and Title 1 services provide support to students that need additional skill development.

● Goshen High School received the High Schools That Work, Ohio Report Card Honor Roll Award in 2013.

● Subject acceleration is available for students at Goshen Middle School. Motivated students have opportunities for High School credit in Integrated Math, Physical Science and Health.

● 2010 GHS Chamber Choir 1st Place "Excellent" rating, Show Choir 2nd Place

● 2012 GHS Women's Choir 1st Place, Show Choir 2nd Place, Chamber Choir 2nd Place

● GHS Show Choir performed at the Ohio School Boards Association Southwest Region meeting in 2011.

The Goshen High School Marching Band were selected to perform in the world famous Electric Light Parade at Walt Disney World in April 2014.

● Goshen High School hosts an Annual Goshen Marching Band Competition. Thanks to our great campus and support of our band boosters events like these are a huge success.

● GHS had 3 students receive Art Academy of Cincinnati Scholarship Awards in 2013

● Students placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the 2013 Taste of Clermont Poster Contest

● Two GHS students had their Photography work accepted into the College of Mount Saint Joseph High School Art Show.

● The GHS Drama Department annually puts on two productions.

● The following art and music opportunities are offered throughout the school year.

● Goshen Middle School offers Creative Technology, a student theater experience.

● Third grade students participate in the OSBA award winning Service Learning Project.

● Fourth grade students participate in OSBA award winning Entrepreneur Day.

● Middle School students can participate in band and/or chorus.

● We provide a highly trained, sensitive, and motivated staff that will support and foster the mission and vision.

● Professional Learning Communities operate daily in all buildings with the core belief of providing the highest level of education to every student on their individual learning level.

● 69% of our teachers have a masters degree or higher

● Ashland University courses are offered for college credit on our campus, allowing teachers to further their education and enhance their skills.

● Teachers use data to identify strengths and growth areas in every student, ensuring that each Warrior reaches their maximum potential.

Goshen Middle School teachers spend time over the summer months aligning lesson and instructional strategies to meet the needs of future students !!

● Federal grant dollars used to maintain excellence through providing intervention and enrichment opportunities.

● GHS and GMS are members of the High Schools That Work and Making Middle Grades Work initiatives that promote school improvement.

● Increased dual credit offerings at the GHS to provide opportunities for students to begin their college careers on our campus for college credit at no cost to parents.

● Implemented the ACT college alignment test ASPIRE.

● Instituted ACT boot camp on Saturdays for HS students interested in obtaining higher scores for college entrance.

● Incorporated a college and career night for parents and students.

● Extra time built in the school days for enrichment and intervention.

● Bring Your Own Device implemented at GMS and GHS in January, 2014.

● 340 iPads are available for checkout by staff members to incorporate technology into instruction.

● All buildings have a variety of Smartboards and projectors and other digital learning equipment in all classrooms. Many classrooms are also equipped with Apple TV’s.

● MAP and Pro-Core online student assessment programs are used to improve instruction at grades K-10

● Each building has worked to add multiple computer labs to their buildings. Currently there are 10 labs in the district.

● Classes offered at GHS in web design and business technology.

Examples of some highlights:

● Goshen Local Schools produces excellent results at below average costs. The average cost per pupil is significantly lower than the state average. GLSD cost per pupil is $ $9,201, while the state of Ohio average is $10,446

● Goshen Local Schools began Open Enrollment in 2003-2004 and in the 2013-2014 school year alone it increased revenue to the general fund by $879,691.

● Since 2007 the district has saved $513,597 from energy conservation upgrades. Goshen Local School has undergone a complete energy conservation review to insure that our buildings are operating at the lowest cost to the local taxpayer as possible.

● 2014 Five Year Forecast details expected revenues and operating expenses for the next five years

● Permanent Improvement Strategy provides for short and long-term plans to maintain district facilities

● Membership within the following organizations assists us in receiving services while sharing the costs with other area school districts:

● CCESC (Clermont County Educational Service Center) – provides educational services, programs and counsel

● CCIC (Clermont County Insurance Consortium) – a consortium for health insurance

● HCCA (Hamilton/Clermont Cooperative Association) – provides technology infrastructure services and support

● The district has undertaken a proactive budget plan to make adjustments in expenditures while providing an excellent education to our students. The proactive budget plan has reduced expenditures and saved taxpayers over $4,550,000 since 2003-2004.

● Goshen Learning Academy is a financially self-sufficient program run by the GLSD to provide quality child care to families in the district.

● Elementary family literacy nights

● Veterans Recognition Night at the Goshen High School football game.

The Spaulding Elementary Giving Tree, led by Guidance Counselor Sheli D'Orazio helped over 150 children enjoy the spirit of the holidays through the efforts of local business partnerships and the support of parents, school staff and the Goshen community.

!● OSBA Business Recognition Night is held yearly to recognize business partners from the community.

● Family and Community Earth Day celebration

● Muffins with Mom and Donuts With Dad events bring in parents to school to enjoy time with their children.

● Annual Father Daughter Dance at Spaulding.

● Business Advisory Council established to provide input on current educational topics as well as future district planning.

● Goshen High School National Honor Society hosted a Wii bowling tournament at one of our local senior citizens center.

● All third grade students participated in a service-learning project at school and in the community.

● Goshen High School Random Acts of Kindness Club performed multiple community service projects such as reading to elementary students.

!Examples of staff accolades.

Goshen High School counselor Marilyn Meyer was named by the Southwest Region of the Ohio School Boards Association as the “Outstanding Classified Staff Member” in April 2014.

● One GHS Advanced Placement teacher was chosen as scorer for national AP exam.

● Several staff members serve as adjunct professors and professors at several local colleges and universities.

● 18 teachers have earned the designation of Master Teacher by the Ohio Department of Education in accordance with Senate Bill Two of the 128th Ohio General Assembly and the Educator Standards Board of Ohio.

● 18 gifted certified intervention specialists provide high quality instruction daily.

Lori West was named Goshen Chamber of Commerce 2013 Teacher of the Year. Past recipients and nominees include, Becky Dornette, Shiloh Ashley, Jennifer Rammel and Valerie Zackerman.

● Student Arleigh Smith qualified for the Ohio State Science fair where she presented her project on straight-line wind data to categorize storms to judges in Columbus.

● Community service opportunities/requirements: 100% of Goshen High School students have to complete 12 hours of community service prior to graduation.

● Random Acts of Kindness Club performs community service throughout the Goshen community.

● Wheels for Austin- $35,000 raised by GLSD students and staff to buy a new wheel chair for a classmate and Goshen Graduate Austin Jackson in 2013.

● Hoops for the Heart

● Annual “Spike for Mike” volleyball fundraising event raises monies for the Mike Spillman Scholarship. This scholarship fund has given over $6,000.00 in financial aid to students continuing in higher education.

● GMS National Junior Honor Society raised over $3,000 in the “Pennies for Patients” program last year.

● GHS students organize a Senior Prom at the Venetian Gardens-Senior Citizens Center yearly.

● Choir and band Christmas concert for Venetian Gardens.

● Yellow Ribbon Committee mails packages to soldiers.
