The 124th birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar was celebrated on April 14, to mark this day Google posted an animated picture on its homepage.

Dr. B.R.Ambedkar who was born on April 14 was well known as Babasaheb. He was a jurist, economist, politician and social reformer who inspired the Modern Buddhist Movement and campaigned against social discrimination against Untouchables.

He was Independent India's first law minister and was the architect of the Constitution of India. Dr. Ambedkar was a genius student and earned a law degree and many other doctorates from Columbia University, US and London School of Economics, UK.

In 1990, he was awarded with the India's highest civilian award Bharat Ratna, says Vaikundarajan.

Babasaheb obtained his Economics and Political science degree from Bombay University in 1912 and proceeded for employment in Baroda state government.
