1 System RequirementsPlease pay attention to the following system requirements.

1.1 Operating System RequirementsAny Windows operating system, which supports MetaQuotes MetaTrader version 4.0 platform, also known as MT4.

1.2 Hardware RequirementsThe minimum Random Access Memory (RAM) requirement is 384MB, however 512MB RAM is recommended to avoid extended virtual memory usage. Note that this memory requirement is for MetaTrader application only, excluding other applications running at the same time (e.g. MS Office). If other applications are running parallel with MetaTrader application please increase the RAM requirement accordingly.

1.3 MetaTrader (MT4) Requirements and SettingsThe GoodVibrations indicator is compatible with MetaQuotes MetaTrader platform version 4.0 build 451 or higher. In general this is referred to as MT4 terminal, build 451 or newer.

1.4 Forex Broker RequirementsThe GoodVibrations indicator is compatible with both 4 and 5-digit data feeds based brokers.

Both fixed and variable spread broker platforms are supported.

2 GoodVibrations Indicator Installation Instructions

Please follow these steps to get the GoodVibrations indicator installed on your system:

1. Download the GoodVibrations.ex4 to your 'My Documents' folder (or any download directory on your PC, e.g. desktop)

2. Exit your MetaTrader application if it was running (File/Exit)

3. Copy the GoodVibrations.ex4 file to the 'experts\indicators' directory of the MetaTrader installation - see note below

4. Start up MetaTrader application

5. 'GoodVibrations' entry should appear under the 'Custom Indicators' node in the Navigator window (View/Navigator)

Note: The typical MetaTrader installation location is

C:\Program Files\<BrokerSpecificName>\

but you may have selected something else while performing the MetaTrader installation. As a hint, the following shows you the default path to the 'experts\indicators' directory for some brokers:

IBFX broker: C:\Program Files\Interbank FX Trader\experts\indicators Alpari UK broker: C:\Program Files\MetaTrader - Alpari UK\experts\indicators ODL UK broker: C:\Program Files\ODL MetaTrader 4\experts\indicators

Check the indicator to appear in the Navigator window:

Step 1: Download to 'My Documents' folder

Step 3: Copy to 'experts\indicators' folder - drag & drop

Step 2: Quit MT4 (if running)

Step 4: Start up MetaTrader

Step 5: The GoodVibrations indicator listed under the 'Custom Indicators' node in the Navigator window


So everything is set up for the first activation of the GoodVibrations indicator.

3 GoodVibrations Indicator First Time ActivationThe following pictures demonstrate the first time activation of the GoodVibrations indicator in a few steps.

Drag & drop the GoodVibrations indicator from the Navigator window (View/Navigator) to a chart window and select the 'Inputs' tab:

This lists the parameters of the indicator where the operational aspect of the GoodVibrations can be set up. For more details see GoodVibrations indicator Configuration Guide below – for now click OK and let the indicator start up with default settings.

The GoodVibrations indicator has been attached to the chart. The red line of the ZigZag indicator and the text labels at extreme points showing the price change in pips appear on the main chart.

In case of a problem getting the indicator up and running please refer to the Troubleshooting section below.

4 GoodVibrations Indicator Configuration GuideIn order to activate the GoodVibrations indicator attach it to a chart window – for more details see section GoodVibrations Indicator First Time Activation above.

4.1 GoodVibrations Indicator Parameter Descriptions

Below is the description of the GoodVibrations indicator parameters.

ExtDepth, ExtDeviation, ExtBackstep – parameters used for the ZigZag indicator. See the ZigZap indicator for more about the meaning of these parameters.

FontName, FontSize, FontColour – determines the formatting of the labels displayed at ZigZag extreme points. FontName is one of the installed fonts on the Windows operating system level, e.g. “Arial”, “Times New Roman” etc. FontSize is typically in the range of 6 to 16. For the desired FontColour double click the current parameter value to see the available colours in a drop drown menu.

UpperTextDistance – sets the distance between the top of the bar and the corresponding text label for a ZigZag high extreme point. The parameter value is in pips therefore for the higher period (H4, D1 etc) chart higher parameter value is suggested.

LowerTextDistance – sets the distance between the bottom of the bar and the corresponding text label for a ZigZag low extreme point. The parameter value is in pips therefore for the higher period (H4, D1 etc) chart higher parameter value is suggested.

Note: both distance, upper and lower, is relative to the top of the text label. As a result the UpperTextDistance value has to include the font size as well to avoid overlay of the text label and the bar itself.

5 Troubleshooting

5.1 Indicator Not Appears on ChartIssue: The GoodVibrations indicator does not show ZigZag lines and extreme points with pip values on the chart after attachment.

Checklist: Chart must have sufficient bars to calculate the ZigZag

indicator. If this was not the case the indicator logs an error message to the Expert tab of the Terminal window (Ctrl+T).

To download more bars 1. Select the chart window to which the indicator is attached2. Ensure 'Auto Scroll' is off: clear Charts/Auto scroll menu3. Keep pressing Home button to download more bars

5.2 No Updates to ChartIssue: The GoodVibrations indicator does not update information on the chart for several minutes.

Checklist: MetaTrader should be connected to the broker's server. Check

the bottom right corner of MetaTrader, this is when it has lost connection to the server:

If connection is lost then login again or restart MT to force reconnection. Try again activating the GoodVibrations indicator when connection is back.

MT4 will not be able to connect to the demo account if it's expired. In this case MT4 will keep asking for the login details and fail all login attempt. When this happens open a new demo account (right click Accounts in Navigator window and select 'Open an Account').

New tick information and updates to chart happens when markets are open. Double check that markets are meant to be open currently.

There should be at least 50MB free disk space available on the drive MetaTrader is installed on. If the free disk space is lower then free up space.
