Trent served as a youth mentor for Carteret Robotics & Broad Creek Middle School’s FIRST LEGO League and was inducted into the Croatan chapter of the Beta Club. In 2016, Trent earned his certificate of completion for the NC State VetCAMP. He plans to major in biomedical engineering. David Brooks Jr. will graduate from East Carteret High School where he received the Mighty Mariner Award and National Forensic League Degree of Merit. David was elected president for Future Farmers of America, Student Government Association and Mariner Environmental Protection Club. Chatham CountyJasmine Wilkie will graduate from Northwood High School where she received the Harvard Prize Book Award and Academic Achievement Award. Jasmine was elected president and team captain of the International Thespian Honor Society and served as a teacher assistant for Northwood’s math and calculus courses. In 2017, Jasmine was also elected president of the French Honor Society. She plans to major in physics.

Cumberland CountyKayla Burns will graduate from Gray’s Creek High School where she received both the U.S. Presidential Award for Academic Excellence and the award for Outstanding Academic Achievement in Concepts of Engineering and Technology. Kayla was appointed first chair flute for the Gray’s Creek Marching Band and played two years of varsity soccer. She plans to major in mechanical engineering.

Sebastian Williams will graduate from Jack Britt High School where he was an AP Scholar and member of the Hispanic Honor Society. Sebastian was appointed president of Mu Alpha Theta and elected secretary of the International Club. In 2016, Sebastian was recognized as part of the Academy of Scholars for his stellar academic achievement. He plans to major in human biology.

Olivia Chiott will graduate from the Early College of Forsyth County where she received both Dean’s and President’s List honors. Olivia was elected head director of the Early College of Forsyth Drama Club and was appointed to be a Crosby Scholar. Olivia also served as a lifeguard for the Grandview Swim Club and was a swim coach for local children. She plans to major in mathematics education.

Forsyth CountyHelena Brewster will graduate from the Early College of Forsyth County where she earned second place in invasive species and ecology at Science Olympiad. Helena was elected president of the Multicultural Club and senior assistant for Science Olympiad. Helena also spends every week mentoring local middle and high school students on projects related to mathematics and English. She plans to major in mathematics education.

Kourtni Curry will graduate from Pine Forest High School where she was a part of the North Carolina Bandmasters Association All-County Band and recipient of the Vannie Award. Kourtni participated in the Academy of Emergency Medical Science program and was a member of Key Club. in 2014, she was elected as a representative for the Student Government Associations. She plans to major in animal science.

Jacob Walker will graduate from Atkins High School where he led the school’s Science Olympiad team to first place overall in the Science Olympiad Regionals. Jacob was a Crosby Scholar and member of both the Technology Student Association and National Honor Society. He plans to major in computer engineering.

Franklin CountyLondon Dement will graduate from Louisburg High School where she received the Certification of Excellence for Precalculus Honors and Advanced Placement Language and Composition. London was elected president of the National Honor Society and vice president of the Student Government Association. She also played defensive midfielder on the Louisburg varsity women’s soccer team for four years. She plans to major in mathematics education.

Jamal Issa will graduate from Louisburg High School where he was an AP Scholar and Quest Bridge College Prep Scholar. Jamal served as captain for the FIRST Robotics Club and competed in Science Olympiad. In 2016, Jamal taught elementary and middle school students about magnetism and electricity as a teacher assistant for GSK Science in the Summer. He plans to major in mechanical engineering.

Gaston CountyKrith Patel will graduate from Ashbrook High School where he earned chief marshal honors and the school’s Scholar Athlete Award. Krith was elected president of the National Honor Society and vice president of the Future Business Leaders of America. In 2017, Krith received the National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientists Award of Excellence for his exceptional academic performance. He plans to major in biology.

Guilford CountyNour Dau will graduate from High Point Central High School where she received AP Scholar with Distinction honors and was selected for the Draelos Science Scholars Program through High Point University. Nour is a member of the school’s Quiz Bowl team and was appointed to be the writer and editor for the High Point Central School Newspaper. She plans to major in engineering.

Paul Stokley will graduate from Eastern Guilford High School where he was a member of the National Honor Society. Paul’s passion for writing was displayed through his appointment as vice president of the Writing Club and team captain for Battle of the Books. Paul also earned academic excellence honors from Weaver Academy for his performance in the principles of engineering and computer programming courses. He plans to major in computer engineering.

Harnett CountyAutumn Currin will graduate from Triton High School where she received both the Excellence in Biology Award and Excellence in Peer Tutoring Award. In addition to Autumn’s peer tutoring responsibilities, she interned at the Betsy Johnson Regional Hospital and performed with the Triton High School Choir for three years where she became one of the choir’s prominent student leaders. She plans to major in elementary education.

Johnston CountyNiambe James will graduate from Clayton High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society and recipient of the Rotary Youth Leadership Award. Niambe was elected president of the Interact Club and was an active member of the Environmental Club. Outside of school, Niambe was heavily involved with her local YMCA as a volunteer and summer camp counselor. She plans to major in sustainable materials and technology.

Dominic Sapoch will graduate from Smithfield-Selma High School where he was the District Event Winner for the FIRST Robotics competition. Dominic was elected as vice president of the National Honor Society and spent six hours per week tutoring elementary school children and coaching his local elementary school’s Science Olympiad team. He plans to major in mechanical engineering.

Lee CountyKyanna Sumpter will graduate from Lee County High School where she was elected vice president of the National Honor Society. Kyanna was also elected senior class vice president of the Student Government Association. Kyanna’s commitment to service and education is shown through her weekly tutoring work with elementary and middle school students through the Born with a Purpose afterschool program. She plans to major in elementary education.

Elizabeth Vanegas will graduate from the Lee Early College where she received the Excellence in Leadership Award. Elizabeth was named to the President’s List for Central Carolina Community College, and dedicated her spare time to volunteering at HAVEN and Lee County 4-H. Elizabeth has also served as an AVID tutor at San Lee Middle School for the last two years. She plans to major in human biology.

Jessica Terrones will graduate from Lee County High School where she was a Lenovo App Challenge National Finalist. Jessica was elected club president of the American Red Cross Club and junior class president for the Student Government Association. In 2017, Jessica was appointed as a student teacher for the Lee County Schools CTE STEM camp where she taught app development. She plans to major in education.

Martin CountyAlexandra Veverka will graduate from Riverside High School where she was a Borlaug Scholar and member of the National Honor Society. Alexandra was an active member of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) where she was a finalist for the FBLA’s Introduction to Business Communication State competition and first place recipient for the FBLA Regional Public Speaking competition. She plans to major in plant and soil sciences with a crop biotechnology concentration.

McDowell CountyEmma Eldridge will graduate from the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics (NCSSM) where she earned the AP Scholar Award. Emma was appointed president of the Animal Ambassadors Club and co-president of the Unichords Acapella Group. She has also spent time volunteering at the North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island and job shadowing at the Willow Oak Veterinary Hospital. She plans to major in zoology.

Nash CountyEmory New will graduate from Southern Nash High School where she received the Tom Suiter Extra Effort Award, Southern Nash Leadership Award, and Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors. Emory was appointed class president of the Student Council Association and captain of the Southern Nash softball team. Emory also dedicated time to participating in Science Olympiad and the NC State Ecological Engineering Camp. She plans to major in food science.

Renee Sessoms will graduate from Southern Nash High School where she was a junior marshal. Renee worked as a veterinary assistant for the Nash County Animal Hospital and was an active member of the Future Farmers of America. Renee also participated in the Beta Club to promote scholastic success in her local community. She plans to major in animal science.

Orange CountyEmma Christensen will graduate from the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics (NCSSM) where she received the Dean’s List Award for Student Leadership and STEM Advocacy. Emma was appointed as a FIRST LEGO League Middle School Robotics Mentor and student director for NCSSM’s musical production of “Anything Goes.” Over the last year, Emma has served as a math tutor for her peers at NCSSM. She plans to major in mechanical engineering.

Austin Kennedy will graduate from North Moore High School where he was selected to participate in the North Carolina Governor’s School East in Mathematics program and placed in the top 10 for the NC Future Business Leaders of America Convention in Business Law. Austin served as captain for his school’s team at the First Tech Robotics Challenge, president of the Beta Club, and volunteered his time with the Northern Moore Family Resource Center. He plans to major in engineering.

Pitt CountyDante Sutton will graduate from South Central High School where he was selected to be a junior marshal and earned both his CPR and OSHA certifications. Dante was appointed co-vice president of the National Honor Society and also participated in Science Olympiad and Mu Alpha Theta. In October 2016, Dante joined the Hurricane Matthew recovery effort and volunteered to help victims displaced due to flooding. He plans to major in electrical engineering.

Randolph CountyBenjamin Carroll will graduate from Asheboro High School where he earned AP Scholar with Honors distinction and was a National Merit Scholar commended student. Benjamin was captain of the cross country team and lieutenant of the school’s marching band. Benjamin also dedicated his time as youth leader for Kids Ahoy! where he facilitated summer activities for elementary children. He plans to major in biomedical engineering.

Robeson CountyLacey Malinsky will graduate from Lumberton High School where she was an NCHSSA Scholar Athlete and AP Scholar. Lacey was a varsity team member for Science Olympiad, senior class vice president, and president of the Juniorettes. Starting in 2016, Lacey served as head school coordinator for Breakfast Buddies which is a weekly breakfast program for at-risk youth. She plans to major in integrative physiology and neurobiology.

Rowan CountyChristopher Shupe will graduate from Rowan County Early College where he was a member of Phi Theta Kappa. Christopher was elected vice president of the National Honor Society and appointed senior delegate for the local American Red Cross chapter. Christopher’s commitment to service extends to Junior Civitan International where he volunteered with various organizations including the local VA hospital. He plans to major in biochemistry.

Rutherford CountyCourtney Smith will graduate from East Rutherford High School where she earned the AP Scholar with Distinction Award and was recognized as a “virtual virtuoso” as part of the school’s iGenius program. Courtney was a volunteer for Camp Harmony, member of the National Beta Club and, in 2017, participated in the Gardner-Webb University Science Academy which emphasized science and criminal investigation. She plans to major in environmental sciences.

Bhairavy Puviindran will graduate from Carrboro High School where she was elected president of the French Honors Society and co-president of the American Red Cross Club. Bhairavy served as president of her school’s Science Olympiad team and also co-founded the North American Triangle Youth Association to promote classical Indian dance. She plans to major in engineering.

Stokes CountyMelissa Poff will graduate from Stokes Early College High School where she earned Dean’s List honors and was a member of the National Honor Society. Melissa was co-founder and director of the Student Campaign for Suicide Prevention for Stokes County schools and was elected assistant lead representative for the Forsyth Technical Community College Student Government Association. She plans to major in conservation biology.

Surry CountyRobert Joyce will graduate from East Surry High School where he was an AP Scholar with Honor and selected to attend the North Carolina Governor’s School for Mathematics. Robert was elected senior class vice president for Student Government and appointed senior patrol leader for the Boy Scouts of America. He plans to major in mechanical engineering.

Union CountyHaley Beard will graduate from the Central Academy of Technology and Arts where she was a junior marshal and participated in The Perry Initiative for women interested in orthopedic surgery and biomedical engineering. Haley served as co-president of the Society of Women Engineers Club and was also a member of the National Honor Society. She plans to major in engineering.

Wake CountySreeramya Balasubramanian will graduate from William G. Enloe High School where she was a National Merit Semifinalist and the HOSA Public Health 1st place winner at the 2016 International Leadership Conference. Sreeramya has participated in a variety of community service endeavors including tutoring with Jóvenes Para Ayudar and Leap ‘N Learn. In 2017, she held a research internship with the Beisel Lab at NC State. She plans to major in biomedical engineering.

Autumn Biggie will graduate from East Wake Academy where she received the East Wake Academy Volleyball Team Scholar Athlete Award. Autumn has extensive community service participation including volunteer work with P.U.R.E. Community Service, the Boys and Girls Club, and the National Honor Society. Autumn is also an avid clogger as she’s a member of the East Wake Academy’s clogging and stomp rhythm step team. She plans to major in biological sciences.

Alexandra Butler will graduate from Millbrook High School where she was a junior marshal and recipient of the AP Scholar Award. Alexandra is a graduate of the North Carolina Governor’s School and has served in a variety of leadership positions at Millbrook including president of the Key Club and vice president of the Student Government Class Council. She also dedicates four hours per week volunteering at the SPCA of Wake County. She plans to major in zoology.

Aiden Winters will graduate from Cary High School where he received both the Philbrick Science Award and the Reef Systems Excellence Award. While at Cary High School, Aiden has served as president of the Ambassadors Club, improv director of the Drama Club, and interned with the Department of Administration under the Council for Women. In 2017, Aiden participated in the week-long Summer Textile Exploration Program at NC State which introduces prospective students to the textile industry. He plans to major in polymer and color chemistry.

Sarah Hall will graduate from Panther Creek High School where she received the National Merit Letter of Commendation and AP Scholar with Distinction honors. Sarah was elected president of the French Club and was an active DECA competitor. In 2015, Sarah participated in the Global Public Service Academies for Health’s trip to Guatemala. She plans to major in biomedical engineering.

Jonathan Moore will complete his homeschool curriculum in May. He received the President’s Volunteer Service Award for completing 100 hours of community service. Jonathan was elected service chair of the Honors Society and played baseball for the Raleigh Hawks and basketball for the Lighthouse Eagles. For the past seven years, Jonathan has supported the Operation Christmas Child program. He plans to major in statistics.

Selma Okyere-Badoo will graduate from Panther Creek High School where she received the school’s Student Athlete Award for cross country. Selma was a member of the National Honor Society, Key Club, and DECA. Selma worked as a mentor for the Panther Creek Writing Center and spent her Tuesday evenings volunteering at WakeMed. She plans to major in biochemistry.

Vitus Putra will graduate from Panther Creek High School where he was an AP Scholar with Honor and finalist for the NASA and American Association of Mechanical Engineer Futureengineers.org Mars Medical Challenge. Vitus was a member of the National Honor Society and Food Ark volunteer. In 2017, he held an internship with Cisco where he helped develop a system to analyze sleep patterns. He plans to major in computer science.

Caleb Rinderer will graduate from Millbrook High School where he was a junior marshal and member of Mu Alpha Theta. Caleb also holds membership in the National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, and received his AutoCAD Inventor Certification. Since 2015, Caleb has served as captain of both the cross country and track teams. He plans to major in electrical engineering.

Martia Williams will graduate from Southeast Raleigh High School where she earned A/B Honor Roll recognition. Martia was elected president of the North Carolina Math Science Education Network Pre-College program and also organized events for New Tech Academy. This year, she attended a service trip to the Dominican Republic. She plans to major in mathematics education.

Christopher Daly will graduate from Southern Wayne High School where he was recognized for academic excellence in Chemistry. Christopher was appointed team captain of Southern Wayne High School’s varsity cross country team and president of National FFA. Christopher also dedicated a lot of time to serving as a senior patrol leader for the Boy Scouts of America and member of Mu Alpha Theta. He plans to major in plant and soil sciences with a concentration in crop production.

Landon was elected president of the Starmount High School Student Government, National Beta Club, and National Honors Society.
