White Rose Food’s highly successful Good Neighbor program (GNP) is now approaching its 9th year. As this program matures, we continue to develop and turn our focus to new areas. We began using the motto “Recognizing the Importance of Family & Neighborhood” back 2004, as we were just starting to steer all of our community marketing efforts into one formal program--the Good Neighbor program. Through the years, with the help of our vendors and customers, this effort has become a national corporate model, illustrating how to succesfully integrate the needs of the community with the resources of the private sector.

White Rose Food’s highly successful Good Neighbor program (GNP) is now approaching its 9th year. As this program matures, we continue to develop and turn our focus to new areas. We began using the motto “Recognizing the Impor-tance of Family & Neighborhood” back 2004, as we were just starting to steer all of our community marketing efforts into one formal program--the Good Neighbor program. Through the years, with the help of our vendors and custom-ers, this effort has become a national corporate model, illustrating how to succesfully integrate the needs of the community with the resources of the private sector.
Since its inception, the GNP has partnered and developed a number of successful community programs that are the core of our effort. Reaching our Dreams honors and sponsors the academic achievements of thousands of NYC students. The program supports mentorship and leadership programs that motivate and inspire students to set goals and reinforces their belief in their ability to achieve. The health festivals, held throughout the year and in different locations, provide much-needed medical screenings to communities that lack such services.
At the same time, the Good Neighbor program continues to support existing foundations, providing additional support for their own local initiatives. We have been continuous sponsors of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure and have expanded our partnership with the Foundation Fighting Blindness’ Visionwalk, for example. Additionally, the GNP has aligned its efforts with those of many NYC agencies, such as the School Food Program, the Board of Health and the City Council.
Support for this program from our vendors and retail customers has been unwavering and increasing since its incep-tion. The focus on constantly developing and structuring community development programs, that tie in to vendor objectives, has been key to the vibrancy and relevance of the GNP.
Finally, we thank you, our sponsors, for your past support and for your continued involvement in the Good Neighbor program. As we continue to grow and introduce new programing, we hope to partner with you and become a foundation for your continued growth in the marketplace.
“White Rose’s Good Neighbor program has reached out to address the needs of the Hispanic com-munity in the critical areas of education, healthcare and employment. We commend them for their commitment to assist Hispanics in achieving their goals of a American life”Neftali Medina, Met/Pioneer Store Owner
“The Good Neighbor program has allowed us as community members to assist and be sensitive to the needs of the families, children and the communities we serve. We are proud to be able to use our resources for the good of our neighborhoods!”National Grocers Association
“Best Target Marketing Campaign, Best in Class Nomination”Food Marketing Institute
“Since the Good Neighbor program’s inception in 2004, over 90% of the program sponsors have continued in their support of the program” Dennis Hickey, Senior Vice President, White Rose

Good Neighbor collaborated with renowned basketball coach, Bob Hurley, to create a free inner city basketball camp that not only focuses on the game of basketball, but also the game of life. The effort, now in its fourth year, is the St. Anthony Basketball camps, co-coached by Ben Gamble. Through one-on-one interaction, the camps focuses on leadership, team building, family values and the importance of education. Recreational activities are inherently exciting and fun ways for young people to learn many life skills. The camp supervisors are well aware that participation in sports helps keep young people motivated and focused on schoolwork.

The Good Neighbor program proudly sponsors six leagues, representing well over 100 teams and 4000 teammates. The season operates from early spring and runs through summer. Baseball offers an opportunity for the youths to learn teamwork, commitment, and social responsibility. It is common for attendance at youth league games to reach 2000.
In 2006, the Good Neighbor Program created the first annual Good Neighbor Youth League Tournament. In addition to games featuring the six leagues we support, a youth league team from the Dominican Republic sometimes participates in our tournaments.
We look forward to our growing local and international support of this important pastime.

Good Neighbor collaborated with renowned basketball coach, Bob Hurley, to create a free inner city basketball camp that not only focuses on the game of basketball, but also the game of life. That camp, now in its fourth year, is the St. Anthony Basketball camp, co-coached by Ben Gamble. Through one-on-one interaction, the camps focuses on leadership, team building, family values and the importance of education. Recreational activities are inherently exciting and funways for young people to learn many life skills. The camp supervisors are well aware that participation in sports helps keep young people motivated and focused on schoolwork.

Sales OpportunitiesThe Good Neighbor program has created a marketing calendar incorporating the successful and proven events and programs that have
developed over the past three years. The success of the Good Neighbor Program is directly related to the relationship with our sponsors, partnerships and our retailers. Many of our new programs that have been introduced into the Good Neighbor Program were
created from meetings with our program sponsors and their marketing teams. We look forward to meeting with our sponsors through
out the year to both review the program and also create new events, tying together sponsor’s merchandising programs with the Good
Neighbor Program. The “interactive” concept of the Good Neighbor program has led to many new sales opportunities for our
sponsors. White Rose Food encourages this dialogue and looks forward to developing more marketing programs throughout the year.

Presenting Sponsorships /NYC Health & Wellness Programs
The Good Neighbor program partners with many sponsor’s community support initiatives. Does your company have a “national program” that recognizes or supports non profit organizations? Are you part of or donate to foundations or organizations that support education or health and wellness campaigns? The Good Neighbor program will work with you and the organization you support to develop a targeted event promoting awareness and support locally in New York City.
As a recognized sponsor of the Good Neighbor Program, tie your promotional events into special advertising campaigns. Use your existing event or launch a new products, cultural, educational, sporting or health & wellness sales program into a sales program for further exposure of your campaign. From offering calling cards, store front programs or supporting any of our non profit partnerships, we will assist you in the development of an interactive marketing event from selecting the promotional time period, creating the strategy and performing the execution.
The Good Neighbor program has selected a number of our events to be offered “Presenting Sponsor Events”. There are a limited number of events and all “Presenting Sponsors” are limited to Level 1 sponsors. In addition to our “Presenting Sponsors” program, the Good Neighbor program has developed strategic partnerships with many New York City Public agencies.Working closely with the Department of Education, Department of Health, Department of School Food, and the City Council and Mayor’s Office, we are assisting these agencies in marketing health & wellness campaigns to the neighborhoods throughout the city. Become a part of the solution for better nutrition both in education and healthy product awareness programs.
