• Complete some of your school times table booklet – revise and check your recall is speedy.

• Play on ‘Hit the button’ or the ‘Mathsframe times table check’ online.

• Play Nerf Tables/Splat – Stick the answers to a chosen table around the room and get asked a question. Run to/shoot the correct answer.

• See how quickly you can write down a set of times tables (multiplication and division facts). Can you beat your personal best?

• Times table bingo – Grab yourself a 1-100 grid and mark off times tables as they are read out to you.

Spellings ideas:

• Acrostic poem – Chose a spelling and write an acrostic poem for that word.

• Quick write – Write the word as many times as you can within a time limit.

• Draw an image around the word – Make an association with the spelling to help you to memorise it.

• Pyramid words – Think of each letter separately and then reverse it so that you end up with a diamond.

• Silly sentences – Make up ‘silly sentences’ containing the spelling you are trying to learn e.g.

• Rainbow writing – Use coloured pencils, bubble writing, all capitals or dotted letters to make the words more memorable.

Lunch Time Lunch time challenge!

The Big Lunch takes place in June each year and is the UK’s thanksgiving weekend for neighbours and communities – a time where people come together to celebrate community and connections. Now more than ever we need to take time for each other but of course, at the moment, this needs to be done virtually or at a social distance! Your task this week, in keeping with the Big Lunch theme, is to design, make and advertise your very own smoothie. You will be using a variety of skills fromacross the curriculum so get your creative cap (and quite possibly an apron!) on. Each day, you will need to complete a different task so that on Friday, you have not only planned and created a smoothie but you have also advertised it for the world to see!

• Monday: Product research. Product research: Design a questionnaire to find out what flavour smoothies are most popular. You will need to think about how you are going to write your questions. How will you get people to record their ideas? What other questions might be useful for you to include e.g. What is your favourite fruit? Do you like thick/thin smoothies? Is colour important? What makes packaging stand out to you? You can ask the people in your house, and maybe you could ask relatives/friends via the phone or email.

• Tuesday: Planning. Using your research, it is time to design your smoothie package – you could do this on a piece of paper or use an old bottle and make a real package! You will need to have a name for your smoothie and think about what to include on your package e.g. ingredients, pictures, price, slogan… Maybe, you could create a jingle for your smoothie also!

• Wednesday: Making. Write a set of instructions explaining how to create your smoothie and then make it, ensuring you follow your step-by-step guide accurately. You will also need to create a poster to advertise your smoothie – make sure it is eye catching and includes key information. You may present this using a computer or by hand – be creative!

• Thursday: Today, it is time to make any finishing touches. If you have completed all the tasks, it is time for you to put your drama skills to the test and advertise your smoothie. You could create an advert and ask a family member to film you or you could do a voiceover or maybe a real life performance to friends (virtually) or family in your house! Don’t forget to email a picture, explanation and any other work you’ve done towards your smoothie across the week over to Miss Ayers by 1pm – [email protected]

• Friday: We will announce Mrs Macey’s winner of the competition un a newsletter which will be uploaded to the website.

• GOOD LUCK AND HAVE FUN J

Weekly tasksArt – Our artist of the week is Andy Warhol.1) As an introductory task, find out 10 facts about him – you may present these in your books however you

wish e.g. fact file, poster, acrostic poem.2) Which piece of art of his is your favourite? Research this online and then write a paragraph about what it is

that you particularly like about it. Challenge – Can you use technical vocabulary to describe it? E.g. Photography, painting, colour, printmaking, repeat images.

3) Recreate one of his pieces in your book and then evaluate it, giving yourself three positives and a future target. His Campbell’s Soup Cans and Marilyn pieces are particularly famous ones J

Science – Our topic this term will continue to be living things but also, their habitats.1) As a refresher from last term, play the ‘Life Cycles Game’ which is on the class pages section. You could play

with a sibling or an adult at home to see how much you know about life cycles. Who will be the first to construct the full life cycle? The instructions on how to play are included.

2) This week, we will be looking at the life cycles of mammals e.g. humans, dogs, rabbits. List 10 mammals and find out what it is that classifies an animal as a mammal e.g. they are all warm-blooded.

3) Mammals, like all types of animals, go through stages within their life cycle e.g. Rabbit = 1. Adult – The adult male rabbit will mate with an adult female rabbit and reproduce. 2. Embryo – The embryo grows inside the female rabbit. 3. Kitten – The kitten drinks from the female. As it grows, it develops fur and starts to eat solid food. 4. Adolescent – The young rabbit grows and develops. Can you create a life cycle wheel to describe the stages of a mammal’s life cycle? There is an example on the next slide.

Page 19: Good morning, Badgers! Riddle of the day –If an electric train is … · 2020-03-06 · I am confident you can all get a full house throughout June. Remember to keep Miss Ayers

You will need to write your own description of each stage around your illustrations e.g. The adult male rabbit will mate withan adult female rabbit and reproduce. The rabbit embryo grows inside the female rabbit. The young rabbit grows and develops. The kitten drinks milk from the female rabbit. As the kitten grows, it develops fur and starts to eat solid food.

Weekly tasksFrench - Our topic this half term is Time Travelling.1) Read through the separate PowerPoint presentation and listen to the sound files to ensure your

pronunciation is correct.2) Complete one of the work sheets on the following slides, writing your answers in your book. You may

choose your own sheet depending on how confident you are (* = not confident yet, ** = confident, *** = ready for a challenge).

History/Geography – Our topic this half term is World War 2.1) This week, we are going to look at the role of women in World War 2. Life for most women before the war

was quite different to how it is today as typically, most women stayed at home and did not go out to work. However, when the war started in September 1939, the role of women was set to change. Research the following questions: Why do you think this was the case? What do you think would be different and why? What might women have bene required to do?

2) Recreate the table (right) in your home learning books and research to find information to complete it.

3) You’re hired! Imagine you are a woman living during World War 2 who has just been given a job – pick a job from the list on the next slide and fill out the table on the next slide. You will need to research details about your new wartime job.

backdrops (the scene of our creation) and blocks (scripts which instruct our sprites etc. what to do). 2) This week, I would like you to choose a character as over the next few weeks, we are going to make our

own maze game. To choose a new sprite, click on the button underneath the main backdrop, next to ‘New Sprite’. A library of options appears from which to choose your sprite. Make your selection and click ok. If you are feeling super confident, you may want to design and create a sprite of your own!

where appropriate, in full sentences.3) Once you have answered all the questions, the answers are underneath the image of the questions. With

an adult, check through your answers and see how you have done.

RRR – Our article this week is article number 19

1) Each week, we will have a different right as a focus. As with French, there will be a presentation uploaded to the class page on the school website for you to work through. This will give information on the article itself as well as lots of learning ideas for you to have a go at. It is a flexible resource so allows you to dip into the areas you would like to have a go at.

2) Please send pictures to me of any work you complete on this so that I can share it with Mrs Bottle – I know she would be thrilled to see it and we can then share it with on the RRSA (Rights Respecting Schools Award) pages also.
