Hedgehog Class!

How will Hedgehog Class Learn From Home?Each week I will provide a weekly timetable that will be uploaded onto our class page on the website. This will be an outline of how you can structure your child’s day to ensure they are continuing their learning and following the Early Years curriculum. I will also upload a daily plan and an accompanying Powerpoint containing resources and recommended websites. If you are not able to resource an activity then they can be adapted and changed to suit your home environment. So much of learning at the foundation stage is based upon experiences and child-led discovery so I would always encourage a relaxed, play based approach. I’m going to try to provide a variety of learning activities that can be achieved independently or with some support. These plans are available as guidance and we understand that sometimes it might be tricky to do everything that is set out. These are unusual times and everyone’s happiness and health is most important, so enjoy as much of the learning as you can.

Can you make up your own sentences that use alliteration?

Try to write them down in your books.( some children will write independently, some will need to copy write, overwrite or the adult may need to scribe for them.)

Alliteration means that a series of words start with the same sound. We have practised saying alliterative sentences in Hedgehog Class so have fun making up some silly sentences!

Phonics – 10-15 minutesRead the sounds on your sound mat.

Today we’re learning about a trigraph. Hedgehogs, you might have to help your grown- ups; tell them what a trigraph is! We’ve learnt the ‘igh’ trigraph before. A trigraph is 3 letter shapes stuck together to make one sound.

•Spend 10-15 minutes on IXL.Maths completing some of the subtraction learning. If you feel that your child need to focus on counting activities first or if they need more challenge then please move to the section that you feel appropriate.

Share a book together

Take some time to look at a book that you have at home already or look online at Oxford Owl at one of the ebooks. Extra Challenge:You could read your school book to one of your toys!
