Making The Transition to High School: Grade 9’s
Importance of the House System
• Encourages student participation
• Can be used to motivate students
• Promotes a community environment
• Establishes strong social connections
• Encourages students to work as a team
Teachers Role
• Each department has been assigned to a House
• Teachers can participate in all House Events
• Teachers grant points based on a students:
• Attitude, Attendance, Academic Achievement, Participation, and Catholicity
Monthly House Tracking Forms
• Each teacher can grant students points based on six (6) criteria (Class Participation, Lates, Attendance, Uniform, Homework, and Virtues)
• Each category is evaluated out of three (3)
Team & Club Points
• Coaches and Supervisors can submit names of students who have participated on sport teams and school clubs for House Points
• Coaches and Supervisors are asked to complete the Team and Club form
How Many Points
• Students who have participated on a team or club can earn from one to ten points depending on their participation and leadership
• For questions, please review the Sport and Club House Point Chart
End of Semester Class Leadership Recognition
• At the end of each semester, teachers can choose/nominate three students from each of his/her classes for a Leadership Recognition
• The student will earn one house point for their Individual and House total
• Teachers are asked to complete the End of Semester Student Nomination Form

• Monthly Tracking Forms
• Completing Sport & Club Forms
• Completing End of Semester Nomination Form
• House Intramurals• Prefect Retreats
• House System Theme Weeks (Halloween, Christmas, and St. Patrick’s Weeks)
