The Golf Science Development ProgrammeThe Golf Science Development Programme (GSDP) has been designed to equip you with the tools needed to train like a tour pro and maximise your potential. Using sport science theory and application, you will experience elite level support and gain new skills. We will show you how to transfer these skills onto the course for improved performance. We currently offer three packages to help improve your game:

BirdieOur introductory package offers you the opportunity to gain an insight into elite player support. The modern golf athlete not only has a swing coach, but also a team of other professionals to help them reach their full potential. We will show you how a balanced approach to golf can help improve your performance.

Eagle and AlbatrossThese high-end packages are for aspiring golfers who are looking to make an investment in themselves and their game. The Eagle and Albatross packages incorporate all the benefits of the Birdie but with further sports science intervention. This comes in the form of biomechanical assessment and increased session length, allowing for a more thorough examination of your physical, mental, and technical skill. The albatross package will also incorporate a teaching lesson from a PGA accredited coach.

Post-programme golf:The GSDP can also offer you access to 9 or 18 holes at two partner courses after the programme has been completed.

The CoursesThe Royal Eastbourne Golf ClubLong-term partner of the GSDP, the 100-year-old, Royal Eastbourne Golf Club, is an attractive combination of parkland and downland with outstanding views across Eastbourne and 18 different, but challenging holes. The course offers a combination of open fairways and narrow doglegs, challenging bunkers, testing putts and requires some accurate tee shots.

East Sussex NationalThe premium offering on the GSDP, East Sussex National Course is a 7,081 yard stadium layout, designed for tournament play. It has been the setting for many important tournaments – notably the European Championship on two occasions.

Programme ContentMovement Screening The movement assessment will highlight areas of strength, weakness or imbalance, which can lead to injury. These physical limitations will ultimately influence your golf swing. Improving these limitations will allow for more repeatable and consistent swings.

Strength and conditioning These sessions give corrective exercises for errors highlighted in the movement screening. Correct physical conditioning will help you become a more powerful, athletic golfer. Conditioning the key muscle groups will also limit the likelihood of injury, allowing you to practice for longer, and stay strong during the latter stages of important rounds.

NutritionCorrect pre, during, and post round nutrition strategies will help you get the most out of your game. Learning more about what to eat and drink will give you more energy on the course, allowing you to perform at your best for longer.

Psychology Teaching you to control your controllables. When you are playing sport there are a lot of things that can’t be controlled. Examples may be the conditions, opponents, even the performance of teammates (team events). The GSDP will provide skills and tips on how to improve this area of your game.

Biomechanics, PGA coaching sessionBiomechanics is a scientific discipline that applies mechanical principles to understand movement. For golf, this understanding could help you produce more consistent swings, increased distance, or reduce your risk of injury. We use a golf simulator as well as camera analysis to give information on swing path, club face angle, shot distance and much more. The Eagle and Albatross packages also give you access to a PGA accredited coach during the session.
