Fellow Nomads

We returned to Wedgewood for our second Thursday game of the year and as always Hector and his team showed us superb hospitality on the day, not to mention the condition of the course which as per usual was immaculate. We managed a field of 55 players with a few withdrawals, this does seem to be an issue with the Thursday games due to work commitments which as we all know are unavoidable. From the perspective of the Thursday games, at least we will be able to provide factual data when deciding whether or not to continue with them going forward.

I have made an attempt through the year to ensure I play with members who I have not played with in the past and this has been very successful in my getting to know some of the newer Nomads and some of the old hands, who I have not had the privilege of playing with in the past. This game was no different in this respect, my partner for the day was Hector and completing our fourball was Stuart McLeod and Allen Bird. Some superb golf was played on the day and Allen was flirting with a 40 pointer as was Hector. Sadly from my side, the golfing struggles continue! In spite of my golf, the company was brilliant and a great day was had by all!

We are always making an attempt to speed up the prizegivings and in my opinion this has been successful on the whole and I my thanks Cobus and John in this regard. I would like to thank Jeanne, Christell and Janel for their assistance on the day, your assistance is greatly appreciated by all the members and even more so due to the fact that it is a Thursday! We had no inductions this month which has been a bit of a break from the norm. I was privileged to present two tie awards this month these were a 5 year tie to Andre Weitz and a 20 year tie to Ken Russell. Thank you to both these gentleman for their commitment to the club.

We will be hosting our 45th Anniversary next month and planning is well underway, thank you to Nick Koumpan for all his efforts in this regard. Looking at the planning stages it promises to be a fantastic event which will also be coupled with our National Chairman's visit. If you have not entered please do so as soon as possible it really does promise to be a fun weekend with a number of visiting Nomads in attendance. The 2018 Nationals deadline is fast approaching, so please get your entries into Ian O'Connor as soon as possible if you

wish to attend. I Personally I think this Nationals will be very well attended and should be brilliant. So if you are on the fence do put your entry as this looks like a Nationals you do not want to miss!

Our next game will be at Port Elizabeth Golf Club on 15 October and as mentioned above, this will be our 45th Anniversary game and the official visit from our National Chairman.

Until Port Elizabeth Golf Club

Yours in Nomads.

Fellow Nomads

What a lovely day it was. We had a mid week game at Wedgewood this month. No 40 pointers this time round but the golf was still good. Our playing field was low this month with only 46 Nomads playing! Gents our playing numbers are very important for the Nationals allocation so please lets play all our games if possible.

My “course committee” and I are looking at the courses to play for next year, if you have any suggestions please talk to me. We are looking at including Grahamstown for one game if they can give us a good rate.

The Joker Draw is going strong. Next months pay out will be R 2500.00 plus the days takings.

Thanks to Christell and her Golforama teams everts in the two games they work at. We only received positive feedback from all involved.

I hope to see you all at the next game on 15 Oct at the Hill (and the Anniversary supper).

Until next time...

Cobus
