Chapter Directors’ Message: “HOW SWEET IT IS!!!”
As Jackie Gleason used to say, “How SWEET it is!” That about sums up Chapter
M’s 2016 District Rally experience! Thank you ALL for participating to make FL1-M the great Chapter that it is. Kim and I appreciated everyone who attended the Rally and
hope that you had FUN! Chapter M was certainly visible everywhere at the Rally. We want to thank everyone who sold raffle tickets throughout the year, volunteered to work the Indoor Games, participated in Chapter Challenge and devoted time to be in the Tal-
ent Show and Chapter Pride. We are proud to be your Chapter Directors!
Next year’s District Rally is set for March 23-25, 2017, at International Palms Re-
sort in Orlando. The theme will be “A Tropical Paradise.” The District Team will be working closely with the Hotel to iron out some of the problems encountered this year.
So next year’s Rally should be even better!
Take a look at Kim’s photo story later in the Newsletter, which highlights the FUN Chapter M had at the District Rally. But just to recap for the record, here’s a summary

CHAPTER EDUCATORS
Please welcome Ron and Kathy Jackson, Glenn and Joann Duncan as the chapters new Assistant Chapter Ed-
ucators. (ACE)
As many of you know Ron and Kathy Jackson have had many positions in Chapter M and at the District level.
The Jackson’s have been the Assistant Chapter Directors, the Chapter Directors twice, the Chapter Educator,
the Area Ride Educator coordinators, and the Rider ED web masters.
Before joining Chapter M, Glenn and Joann Duncan were the Chapter Educators for FL1-K2, Saint Peters-
burg.
As you know Bill Miller has been ill the last few months. Bill was our only CPR/ FA/ AED instructor for the
chapter.
So to help him out Ron Jackson, Steven Burson and myself have taken the “Medic First Aid, Basic Plus” in-
structor course. Now four of Chapter M’s members can instruct the MFA CPR/ FA/ AED classes. (Cardio
Pulmonary Resuscitation, First Aid and the Automated Electronic Defibrillator)
According to Rick Northrop, the Senior Florida District Educator, there are now twenty two MFA instructors
and one trainer in the state.
By the time you read this article we will have presented a MFA, CPR/ FA class on April 3rd. As of this writ-
ing there are twenty two people signed up for the class.
When we present any CPR/ FA classes, we notify the Florida District of the date(s) and then those date(s) are
put onto the Rider ED portion of the web site so that other GWRRA members in or out of state can have an
opportunity to renew or learn the skills for CPR/ FA.
The Basic Plus CPR/ FA class teaches us how any person can save lives. You may be that person who be-
comes the first responder in a chain of responders for that patient. If you DO NOT take the FREE classes,
there may be a time when your help will be needed to help save someone’s life.
When is the last time you checked all of your first aid kits??
If you haven’t done this please do it NOW. Many of the first aid contents deteriorate because of the heat, oth-
ers have expiration dates on them.
Listed below is a Motorcycle first aid kit. Sharon Dunn, RN has reviewed the contents. Feel free to use this
list for your first aid kit.
Even though there is no mention of a fire extinguisher, I highly recommend one. A compact fire extinguisher
can be purchased at Wal Mart for about $14.00. If everyone had one then we could all use them to possibly
extinguish a fire.

Subject: Mayo Clinic on Aspirin and Heart Attacks Mayo Clinic on Aspirin Dr. Virend Somers, is a Cardiologist from the Mayo Clinic, and lead author of the report in the July 29, 2008 issue of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology. Most heart attacks occur in the day, generally between 6 A.M. and noon. Having one during the night, when the heart should be most at rest, means that something unusual happened. Somers and his colleagues have been working for a decade to show that sleep apnea is to blame. 1. If you take an aspirin or a baby aspirin once a day, take it at night. The reason: Aspirin has a 24-hour "half-life"; therefore, if most heart attacks happen in the wee hours of the morning, the Aspirin would be strongest in your system. 2. FYI, Aspirin lasts a really long time in your medicine chest for years, (when it gets old, it smells like vinegar). Please read on. Something that we can do to help ourselves - nice to know. · Bayer is making crystal aspirin to dissolve instantly on the tongue. They work much faster than the tablets. · Why keep Aspirin by your bedside? It's about Heart Attacks - There are other symptoms of a heart attack, besides the pain on the left arm. One must also be aware of an intense pain on the chin, as well as nausea and lots of sweating; however, these symptoms may also occur less frequently. Note: There may be NO pain in the chest during a heart attack. · The majority of people (about 60%) who had a heart attack during their sleep did not wake up. However, if it occurs, the chest pain may wake you up from your deep sleep. · If that happens, immediately dissolve two aspirins in your mouth and swallow them with a bit of wa-ter. Afterwards: *Call 911. *Phone a neighbor or a family member who lives very close by. *Say "heart attack!" *Say that you have taken 2 Aspirins. *Take a seat on a chair or sofa near the front door, and wait for their arrival and *DO NOT LIE DOWN! A Cardiologist has stated that if each person, after receiving this e-mail, sends it to 10 people, proba-bly one life could be saved! I have already shared this information. What about you? Do forward this message. It may save lives!
