Time to get up! I feel my Father-Mother

God’s presence inspiring me to express Love today.

Morning! It’s Fleecia—I’ll meet you at the rink in an hour.

1 | Isaiah 45:5, 11

am the Lord, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me:   11 Thus saith the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker, Ask me of things to come concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands command ye me.

2 | Isaiah 66:1 The heaven (to :), 13

The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool:   13 As one whom his mother com- forteth, so will I comfort you; and ye shall be comforted in Jerusalem.

3 | I Chronicles 29:10 Blessed, 12, 13

Blessed be thou, Lord God of Israel our father, for ever and ever.   12 Both riches and honour come of thee, and thou reignest over all; and in thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all.  13 Now therefore, our God, we thank thee, and praise thy glorious name.

1 | 332:4–5

Father-Mother is the name for Deity, which in- dicates His tender relationship to His spiritual creation.

2 | 267:5–6

God is one. The 6 allness of Deity is His oneness.

3 | 336:23–26, 30

Allness is the measure of the infinite, and 24 nothing less can express God. God, the divine Principle of man, and man in God’s likeness are inseparable, harmonious, and eternal.

30 God is the parent Mind, and man is God’s spiritual offspring.

4 | 515:21 Man

21 Man is the family name for all ideas, — the sons and daughters of God. All that God imparts moves in accord with Him, reflecting good- 24 ness and power.

5 | 140:7–12

Not materially but spiritually we

God invisible to the senses

know Him as divine Mind, as Life, Truth, and Love. We 9 shall obey and adore in proportion as we apprehend the divine nature and love Him understandingly, warring no more over the corporeality, but rejoicing in the affluence 12 of our God.

6 | 16:7–11, 24–29

Our Master taught his disciples one brief prayer, which we name after him the Lord’s Prayer. Our Mas- 9 ter said, “After this manner therefore pray ye,” and then he gave that prayer which

The prayer of Jesus Christ

covers all human needs.

24 Here let me give what I understand to be the spir- itual sense of the Lord’s Prayer:

Our Father which art in heaven, 27 Our Father-Mother God, all-harmonious,

Hallowed be Thy name. Adorable One.

IN HEBREW, the original language of the Old Testament, there are many different titles for God that are translated as God, Lord, Lord God, Holy

One, etc. Each title refers to a different role of God, like being the one and only, All-in-all, protector, leader, creator, etc. The many words used for God expressed how the Jews viewed their relationship with Him.

In this part of Isaiah, God is speaking to Cyrus, the king of Persia. Cyrus had

not really understood before this that God is the only true God. So God is explaining that He has been there, helping Cyrus all along, even when he didn’t know it.

How do you feel connected to God right now?

30 Thy kingdom come. Thy kingdom is come; Thou art ever-present.

8 | 223:7–9 God

God is infinite omni- present Spirit. If Spirit is all and is everywhere, what 9 and where is matter?

9 | 331:11 (only), 18 (only), 20

The Scriptures imply that God is All-in-all.

18 God is individual, incorporeal.

He is all- 21 inclusive, and is reflected by all that is real

The universal cause

and eternal and by nothing else. He fills all space, and it is impossible to conceive of such omnipresence and in- 24 dividuality except as infinite Spirit or Mind. Hence all is Spirit and spiritual.

10 | 476:28–5

When speaking of God’s children, not the children of men, Jesus said, “The kingdom of God is within you;” 30 that is, Truth and Love reign in the real man, showing that man in God’s image is

The kingdom within

unfallen and eternal. Jesus beheld in Science the per- 1 fect man, who appeared to him where sinning mortal man appears to mortals. In this perfect man the Saviour 3 saw God’s own likeness, and this correct view of man healed the sick. Thus Jesus taught that the kingdom of God is intact, universal, and that man is pure and holy.

4 | Psalms 103:19, 22 (to :)

The Lord hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all.   22 Bless the Lord, all his works in all places of his dominion:

5 | Jeremiah 23:23, 24

Am I a God at hand, saith the Lord, and not a God afar off?  24 Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the Lord. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the Lord.

6 | Mark 1:14 Jesus, 15, 28, 34 (to ;)

esus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,  15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.   28 And immediately his fame spread abroad throughout all the region round about Galilee.   34 And he healed many that were sick of divers diseases, and cast out many devils;

7 | Luke 17:20, 21

And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:  21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

Hymn 53 in the Christian Science Hymnal has good ideas about God’s ever-presence.

THE PHARISEES believed that the kingdom of God would come at a specific point in time which would coincide with the coming of the

Messiah. Those who followed the laws outlined in the Torah would be welcomed into the kingdom. Those who did not follow the law would not be able to enter. This made Jesus’s statement very different from how the kingdom of God had been taught before.

Truth and Love are reflected by you and everyone you know. Be alert, and you’ll see that reflection everywhere.

THE STORYmakes it clear that the people believed the boy had an evil spirit in him that was controlling him. What the story doesn’t

explain is that this belief likely meant that neither the son nor the father could go into the temple to worship or pray. It would have made them both unclean, and so unwelcome. So when Jesus healed the boy, he proved that both father and son were worthy of their rightful place in the community, and that place was restored.

Mary Baker Eddy taught and proved that health and life could be restored today,

just like in the Bible. You can read about one such healing of a young boy on p. 55 of Twelve Years with Mary Baker Eddy, Amplified Edition by Irving C. Tomlinson.

Sheep are natural wanderers. They don’t really pay atten-tion to where they are or where they are going, and with no real defenses against predators, this leaves them very vulnerable to getting lost and to attack. Shepherds know it’s important to keep an eye on every single sheep all the time so that they stay with the group and stay safe.

PLAY MANY SPORTS, but ice hockey is definitely my favorite. I’m in fourth grade and have played hockey for six years. Last spring I wanted to join a very competitive hockey pro-

gram. This program had tryouts lasting for three nights.

When I found out I would miss the first night because of a school trip, I was bummed. But my dad and I prayed. We talked about how God loves us so much. God totally governs our lives, and God would never let us miss out on anything good.

I was really grateful when the hockey coaches said that going on the class trip wouldn’t hurt my chances of getting a spot on a team. On the second night of the try-outs (my first night), I had a good attitude, thinking everything would be all right. But after we got off the ice and the coaches put

up team lists, a lot of kids, including me, were not on any team yet. Some kids and parents were disappointed and mad. But you know what? I felt fine.

I was thinking that no matter what un-

fair or bad things seemed to be happening, the only thing that was really happening was God. God is good and He’s taking care of everything. God is putting me in the right place at the right time, even if it’s not where

I’d planned on being. Standing beside the team lists, I prayed. I was calm and happy.

On the last night of tryouts, I was mostly thinking hockey thoughts about what I needed to do and knowing that I could just have fun and “rock the ice.” Because all the A-level (top-level) teams had already been picked, it looked like my only chance was to make a B team. When the coaches put up the lists that night, I was totally surprised: I was on an A team! Because I’d played so well in the final tryout, the coaches changed their minds and switched me from a B to an A team. The tryouts taught me that trusting God and expressing God’s goodness really is the best way to go.
