GOLDEN RETRIEVER RESCUE OF MICHIGAN www.grrom.com Hotline: 888-814-9670 Summer, 2020 Dear Friends and Family of GRROM, We hope this finds you and your loved ones well! It is times like these when we appreciate all-the- more just how much comfort our furry family members provide. Most certainly, we have each been greatly impacted by these unprecedented times. Understandably, over these past months our rescue has also experienced changes; only the sickest and neediest dogs are being surrendered and as our expenses increase, our overall donations are down. GRRoM continues to provide medical care for all of our new and retired fosters, many of whom have extensive, ongoing medical needs as the stories below illustrate. We are sending out our annual appeal letter early this year for very important reasons. With our traditional, in-person fundraisers cancelled, we are challenged to look for other ways to raise funds. We hope you will make a donation, as you have in the past. Something new this year… you will see a “Golden VIP Sponsorship Programform on the back. Your donation will help fund medical expenses for your chosen dog. We will list your name below your chosen golden on our website. We are also seeking ways to increase the number of people we reach out to for donations. We have found that members of our GRROM family, as well as their friends just want to know how they can help. We have posted the new “Sponsorship Programon our website and we ask that you invite all your contacts to visit www.grrom.com and make a donation. Please join us in spreading the word as we embark on our new normal for fundraising for our goldens. Toby was surrendered to GRRoM in November, 2019. No information was available, other than that he was about 3 years old. At his check up, Toby growled at the vet when she tried to examine his hips. X-rays showed that Toby had hip dysplasia in both hips. Since he was young and otherwise healthy, it was determined that a hip replacement, possibly in both hips, would relieve his pain and give him the best chance at a happy life. Toby had surgery to replace his right hip in May. It has been a long and difficult recovery as he needed constant care for the first 2 weeks, followed by 3 months of constant watching and on leash to go outside. Prior to starting physical therapy, the PT felt Toby would benefit from laser treatments and Adequan injections. The hope is that the injections and the therapy may also strengthen his left hip enough that he won't need another surgery. In early August, Toby will have his 3-month post-op checkup at the Animal Surgical Center and will hopefully get permission to be off leash and be able to play with his best buddy, Bo. Dear Friends and Family of GRROM,

We hope this finds you and your loved ones well! It is times like these when we appreciate all-the-

more just how much comfort our furry family members provide. Most certainly, we have each

been greatly impacted by these unprecedented times. Understandably, over these past months

surrendered and as our expenses increase, our overall donations are down. GRRoM

continues to provide medical care for all of our new and retired fosters, many of whom

have extensive, ongoing medical needs as the stories below illustrate.

We are sending out our annual appeal letter early this year for very important reasons.

your chosen dog. We will list your name below your chosen golden on

Meet Houston & Maddison! These two seniors came into GRRoM foster care after

having spent several weeks at a Flint shelter where their owner surrendered them due to

her own health issues. They were dirty, scared, significantly overweight and in poor

health. Sadly, both dogs had not received adequate medical care and would require

multiple medical procedures. Houston, the gentle giant, had to undergo a tail amputation

to remove a tumor so large that he had been unable to sit for quite some time. He also

required urgent extraction of 4 badly infected teeth and treatment of chronic ear

infections. “Mighty Maddison” who is deaf from years of untreated ear infections had to

have 4 mammary tumors removed and several teeth pulled as well. We are so happy to report that all biopsies were

benign and both dogs are doing well.

"Clancy & Lucy were surrendered to GRROM in March of this year due to their owner

moving into a retirement community that does not allow pets. These girls, who were born

in the same litter, really don't act their age at all (11 years). They are active and energetic

and so full of golden love, for each other and for everyone

they come in contact with. Both girls had hidden health issues,

including thyroid and blood pressure that were discovered and

have been addressed with medication. We are so grateful to

have been able to foster these two very special girls!"
