“Goldberg Insomniac”J.S. Bach wrote the Goldberg Variations for his friend Johann Gottlieb Goldberg, who was unable to sleep at night. They consist of an aria and a set of
thirty variations and were first published in 1741. It is likely that Johann Gottlieb Goldberg was the first performer.
