GWRRA Mission and Vision Statements
GWRRA Mission Statement
Established in 1977, the Gold Wing Road Riders Association provides an atmosphere for fun, safety, and knowledge to Gold Wing and Valkyrie motorcycle owners.
GWRRA Vision Statement:
GWRRA - is a leader of associational organizations, respected by its Member as well as its competitors and the communities it operates within.
GWRRA - strives to offer the highest quality service to its Members.
GWRRA - is a family-oriented association of Honda Gold Wing, F6B and Valkyrie owners as well as non-Gold Wing owners, our Associate Members.
GWRRA Vision
Gold Wing Road Riders Association [GWRRA], founded in 1977, is recognized as the world's largest single-marquee motorcycle association in the world. GWRRA provides safety, technical, and educational services to its Members world-wide.
GWRRA Mission
Dedicated to our Motto; Friends for Fun, Safety and Knowledge, GWRRA Members enjoy the freedom of belonging to a not-for-profit, non-religious and non-political organization.
GWRRA Values
• Friends - GWRRA Members are men and women from all walks of life with varied interests and backgrounds. We have Gold Wing and other touring motorcycle riders of all age groups. Some ride solo and many ride with small and large groups! New Members join GWRRA especially for the technical information we share; some of our Members join for the enjoyment of riding with friends and also meeting new friends. Find your future riding friends with your Region Map.
• Fun - As a family organization, GWRRA has certain fun groups to include restaurant, picnic and campout runs. We also have GWRRA groups to include charities, parades, and small or large events across the country. GWRRA Members can participate in live or video seminars through Rider Education Programs.
• Safety - We strive for improvement through GWRRA safety workshops. We will share technical expertise, news and tips about riding, maintenance and the best touring routes in the world. Safety is for Life on our GWRRA Rider Education Programs page.
• Knowledge - While generalization about a group of individuals as large as today's GWRRA is difficult, GWRRA Members are likely to be independent thinkers, fun-loving, generous, adventuresome, cooperative and unfazed by the natural challenges of riding in the rain, temperature extremes or highway uncertainties. Many Members have completed CPR and first aid training, making them the best-prepared motorcycle riders on the world's highways! Find " CPR and First Aid Training " on our GWRRA Medic First Aid International® Programs.

Hello Cross Roads C3--
April 7th was a full day at the Officers’ meeting. I had failed in doing what Becky suggested, but it was the will of C3 to continue as usual. I understood when we got there why she asked us to have the meeting moved to a different date. The Officers’ meeting was about chapters emphasizing on Treasurer and MEC. The Treasurer and the MEC are officers. This meeting was smaller than the one in November but with a lot more participation from all that were there. We talked about upcoming events and we saw a motorist awareness movie-- “DOL Motorcycle Awareness — A Second Look". It had every- one in “ahhh”! It was freaking cold outside and the warmth was all inside. Everyone there was so friendly. We thought it went very well. We talked about how we can be friendlier to newcomers. We are a family of bikers--we welcome new people who are interested. We are friendly to them; making them a C3 family member and I've really pushed C3. We have more members showing at one time than anyone else in the state. I really like the personality of our C3 family!! As I said awhile back about having a great chapter--we make it happen! We work things through if we disagree. We work together to make this chapter a success. Now, others know us. We are a model chapter. I do want to revisit C3's ARL Sheets with the MEC and work with him to look at our previous
members and many others that came by and never came back. People change; they could have
moved, died, or stopped riding because of severe health problems. Many have newly expired
membership to GWRRA so we should try to invite them on a ride.
May is Motorcycle Awareness Month. It is a month to get the general populous to recognize that
we are out there on that road too!
Let's celebrate ourselves! We are a great group of people and a great chapter. Let’s keep it
going. Let’s do something different. Let’s picnic at a rest area (no tables) and if someone on a
bike comes up, converse with them and invite them to a ride. Someone comes to you in a
restaurant to ask you about your bike, start a conversation and invite them on a ride or a
breakfast. Let's get it on enthusiastically with GWRRA Cross Roads C3. Let's get out--show our
name when we ride.
Thank you

April 28th was our day for the Road Captains’ course. We had
five people that volunteered to help the Ride Coordinator on
rides and to help when something on the ride goes wrong. The
Road Captains’ course is really a one-day course, but you could
have the course split if it’s done within 24 hours.
As the time came, we lost two bikes due to repairs and Robert
Williams called me about cancelling the course due to severe
weather conditions.
If any of you still have an interest in doing this course for C-3, it
would be appreciated and thank you! There are two days open
in June—Thursday and Friday of Buckeye Rally which is June
14th to 16th.
An unusual siting at our April
gathering!! So happy you could join
us, Rosie!!
Philip’s latest addition to his bike! A
black nose mask. Ask him about his
purchase!!! 😊

With the new Officer Changes in GWRRA comes refinements in how we do training. I would like to take a moment to discuss some new policies that have been handed down over the past several months. The Road Captain course has had one of the changes. The Road Captain course has two parts, the classroom and the road. In Ohio, as well as other Districts, the course may have been done all in one day or, due to various reasons, it may have been broken apart and separated by days or weeks. But in no case was the course completion card given until both components were completed. The change comes in the amount of time that can elapse between the classroom and road. The refinement is more in line with how we teach Rider Course Classes. As I understand it, these changes will be included in the new GWRRA Rider Course Instructor Guides that will soon be distributed. If you have not seen it, Tim Grimes has an article in May Wing World discussing this topic--see page 64. In addition to making this requirement clearer, what about other on-bike activities such as Amazing Team or Top Gun? They too are being tied back to what we do with Rider Courses. If a motor vehicle cannot participate in a GWRRA Rider Course Class, then it can’t complete in in AT or Top Gun or any other GWRRA Skills Completion. This excludes on-bike games that are part of many District Rallies. Still, we must be careful to practice safety for those who participate in on-bike games. In short, these refinements are making our policies & practices more consistent across GWRRA.
If you have any questions about these refinement’s, please call or see me. FROM THE DISTRICT EDUCATORS Robert G & Angela WILLIAMS

So, until the next time!

Buckeye Rally 2018 Mascot Contest & New Event
2018 Buckeye Rally will feature TWO (2) different Mascot Contests.
The first one will be the Chapter Mascot contest as we have always had and
the 2nd will feature individual member’s Mascots. The theory behind this is that
so many of us have a traveling companion on our bike that goes with us
everywhere we go.
The rules will be the same for each category, however a Chapter
Mascot cannot be entered in the individual mascot contest and an individual
mascot cannot be entered into the Chapter mascot contest. Judging will be
the same for both contests and the same categories will be used as well for
both.
1. The Mascot must be theme based. 2. Chapter, District & Region designation should be displayed. 3. GWRRA identification should be displayed exp., patch, pin, etc. 4. Size does not matter. 5. You cannot have a live mascot 6. You are responsible for your own props.
The District staff will do everything we can to ensure the safety of your mascot
but please be advised that no matter how well we watch, there are some
mascot nappers amongst us and we cannot be responsible for mascots left
unattended.
This year with the theme of “Swinging in the 50’s and it’s also the 35th
anniversary or Birthday of Buckeye Rally; I thought it would be fun to have the
Mascots coming to a “50’s” style Birthday Party. So dress your mascot in
“50’s” theme birthday party costumes and have them bring a “birthday gift”.
The “gift” is just part of your props and is not going to be opened it’s not for the
district to do anything with. It’s just part of the “FUN”!
Let’s have some fun here.
LATE BREAKING NEWS!!!
We are having a Light Parade this Year! So, have the Bikes and Trikes to
show Mansfield Ohio’s best.
On another note on the Thursday’s Dinner Ride we will be going to Der
Dutchman.

The WD-40 Story
In 1953, a fledgling company called Rocket Chemical Company and its staff of three set out to create a line of rust-prevention solvents and degreasers for use in the aerospace industry. Working in a small lab in San Diego, California, it took them 40 attempts to get the water displacing formula worked out. But they must have been really good, because the original secret formula for WD-40® -which stands for Water Displacement perfected on the 40th try—is still in use today. Convair, an aerospace contractor, first used WD-40® to protect the outer skin of the Atlas Missile from rust and corrosion. The product worked so well that several employees snuck some WD-40® cans out of the plant to use at home.
