December 2016
FROM YOUR ASSISTANT CHAPTER DIRECTORS
Richard & Cari Durecki
Cari and I wish to extend best wishes to everyone this holiday
season. Now that Thanksgiving is over; everyone is getting
ready for Christmas and the New Year. We hope that you
cherish the time spent with family and friends far and near.
We had a very nice turnout at December’s meeting; it was
great to see some new faces too. We had a couple of guests
that we all welcomed, Carl and Rhonda Tribble who live in
Niles. We hope that you enjoyed the meeting and are able to come and join us again.
November 6th was our planning meeting at Bob and Sue’s. A number of activities were
planned and I’m sure more will be added as the upcoming year shakes out. Vern sent
everyone an e-mail of activities and dates; some are tentative. If you want to do an
activity/ride that’s not on the schedule please let us know and we’ll try to work it in.
We’re all about trying different things.
On November 12, Gless’s and myself attended the District meeting in Lafayette. Indi-
ana’s Winter Rendezvous activities and changes were discussed. There will no longer
be a “Float Parade” as in the past. If chapters wish to make a float it will be on display
all day on Saturday. Registration has also been changed. The Saturday night sit down
dinner is no longer part of your registration. This year’s theme is SUPER HERO’S,
which leads to all kinds of interpretations. This will be held February 17 & 18 in Co-
lumbus IN. Registration and Hotel info can be found on
indianaonwings.org.
With winter on the way our group is smaller but we still want to get together. We are
always looking for ideas for winter activities, so any suggestions are welcome.
There will not be a dinner gathering in December due to being so close to holidays
and low attendance in past years. We’ll resume the gatherings in January.
Happy holidays everyone Until next time Rich & Cari

Craigslist Motorcycle Theft Scam
This is a story about a man who purchased a motorcycle on craigslist. The individual
purchased a 2008 Suzuki motorcycle for $6,000.00 with only 4,000 miles on the bike.
Later that evening, after he brought it home, he decided to ride the bike over to a
friend’s house. He was inside his friend’s home when he glanced out of the window
and saw to guys putting his bike into the back of a truck. They were gone in less than
a minute. The bad part of this story is that he didn’t put insurance on the bike right
away. (Within 24 hours his bike was stolen). He later learned that the man he pur-
chased the bike from stated that he had the bike for a couple of years, but he later
discovered the title stated the man only had the bike for a couple of months. He also
learned that a GPS Tracker was placed on his bike by the seller, and that they were
tracking were he went, followed him, and snatched the bike. He also discovered that
they take all the parts off of the bikes and put them on another frame so they can get
a new title for it, re-sell the bike, steal it back, and start the process all over again. So
“beware” of buying on line.

Meeting Notes:Meeting Notes: By Vernon Daly By Vernon Daly
With our Chapter Directors now in Florida,
the meeting was run by our Assistant Direc-
tor, Rich Durecki. Rich opened the meeting to 21 Chap-
ter Members and two guests, Carl & Rhonda Tribble.
After the pledge of allegiance, Rich discussed past
events, including the Pound Auction, the combination
Holiday/Birthday party and the Planning Meeting. It was
mentioned that Vern had send out an e-mail containing
the 2017 schedule of events. Vern mentioned that if any-
one had not received it they should send him an e-mail
indicating so and he would re-send it.
Rich also talked about the “Holiday Giving” in which the
chapter participated, which included gifts to the Niles
Salvation Army, the Nurse at Goshen High School, as
well as a gift to Harwood’s Daughter, who is going
through some rough times. In this vein, Cary read thank-
you notes from both Harwoods and their daughter.
Rich then mentioned upcoming events, of which there is
only one, the Game Night on January 28th, 6PM at
Normans. A signup sheet was passed around for this
event.
Rich then talked about past and upcoming district, re-
gional and national events, the main one being winter
Rendezvous on February 17 and 18 in Columbus, IN.
Connie mentioned that there are several new activities
planned for that rally.
Rich then talked about the possible upcoming Hunter Ice
Festival, which is normally held around the third week-
end in January. Both Rich and Vern mentioned that they
had both looked on-line and were unable to find any in-
formation on the date for this event. Rich also asked
Vern if any plans had been set for an open house at the
new Ronald McDonald House in South Bend. Vern said
that he had not heard of any date being set yet but that he
would check into it.
Connie Gless then gave a talk about being careful of a
motorcycle sale/theft scam on Craigslist wherein some-
one sells a motorcycle only to trace it to the new owner’s
house, steal it, part it out and re-sell it.
Wolfgang then gave the MEC report and mentioned
those who will be up for renewal in the next few months.
He also gave a short update on discounts available to

Rich announced the upcoming “Thursday dinner” on Janu-
ary 19 which will be at Jade Garden in Elkhart. In addition
to this, the restaurants for the rest of the non-riding season
were selected. You can find the list on the What’s Coming
Up page.
Cathy Rummel then recognized this months Birthdays or
which there were six, including a couple of past members.
Rich then asked for presentation of the Dumbo Privilege
and Udderly Fantastic Award. Vern said that Dumbo
would be staying with him for at least another month and
that it was appropriate after the crash with the waiter which
dumped all of Norman’s food on the floor and required a
re-make.
Udderly was given to Jim and Deb Whetstone for all the
work they have done lately on both the Ronald McDonald
ride and the Holiday party.
Lastly, Wolfie mentioned that his summer ride would be a
3-day ride up north and would be held on August 18, 19
and 20. Keep those dates open as Wolfie’s rides are always
good.
With that, Rich thanked everyone for attending the meeting
and adjourned until next month.

What’s Coming Up
As you can see, the schedule of events for the
rest of 2016, and even into the first part of 2017,
is pretty sparse. This is mostly due to the holi-
days during November and December.
However...If anyone would like to host a game
night, or just a chapter gab-fest get-together,
there’s a lot of weekends available those two
months. Contact Bob or Rich if you’d like to host
something. I’m sure we could work something
out.
Winter Rendezvous Winter Rendezvous, at the Clarion hotel in Co-
lumbus, IN is coming up February 17 and 18.
Be thinking about if you’d like to attend.
Game Night There will be a Game Night at Norman’s on
January 28th. Y’all know the drill. Bring a
dish to pass.
A Christmas Poem By Deb Whetstone
Tis 24 days until Christmas and all thru Chapter 02 People are finding so many "Christmas" things to do. They are shopping and baking....and soon dodg-ing the snow.. Except for our snowbirds...who all have some-where warm to go. We try so hard to pick out the right gift for every-one...whom ever it may be... When the real gift is enjoying God's creation..and our friends and family. So take time to watch a snowflake as it falls slowly down..... And see its individuality before it hits the ground. Take time for each individual that you can.....appreciate them too Yes that will give a wonderful Christmas to each and every one of you! MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL
December . . No Thursday Dinner due to Holidays
January 19 . . Jade Garden, Elkhart
February 16 . . Between The Buns, Elkhart

T-Shirts Needed As some of you are probably aware, Berna-
dette was not able to make a “Places vis-
ited, T-Shirt quilt” for this year’s Pound
Auction. That’s because she didn’t have
enough T-Shirts for the job. Please read
the note below and think about donating
one.
To ALL GWRRA members;
Bernadette Harwood from Chapter O2 collects
t-shirts, new or gently used, from various
places you’ve visited on your motorcycle, to
make quilts for our Pound Auction. The more
variety of places and colors the better for her
quilts. Please consider donating one or more.
They can be dropped off at her house, 52552
Grape Road, Granger, or you can give them to
ANY O2 member, or better yet, bring them to
the Chapter O2 meeting. Any questions you
can call Bernadette at 574-904-9802. Remem-
ber, all proceeds from the Pound Auction go to
the Ronald McDonald House Charities.
