Chapter Director’s Message

Howdy all, well we have been doing some good riding lately as the weather has been great and it looks like it's going to be that way for awhile, so watch out for those impromptu's so we can take advantage of the weather.

John Racer has brought forth a new idea for furthering the Chapters reach by proposing a "Sister Chapter" communication. We are now de-ciding who we are going to invite to the program and you all should be voicing your choices to John. This should be fun as it ultimately will in-volve a Bike trip some where, which is always good.

The Holiday Party is coming up and we are doing it a little different this Year. Rather then expend a lot of the chapter funds for one Meal, we have decided to hold these funds for ride promotions such as Ice Cream rides ,BBQ's and such, all sponsored by the chapter. With that in mind, we will purchase our own dinners for the "Holiday Party" Dec 15th at Holders. But, there will be a great raffle of 2 main prizes. One, $150.00 gift cert. and a 75.00 gift cert. to Honda Direct Line.(YEA). Well I'm outa here as Mugsey wants to say a few things Later.

“FROM THE BACKSEAT"

Hi All,

Well this has been a fun month, with the Bike show and Thanksgiving, The Cowpie Ride and the Parade... Now December is coming with the Toys for tots, The Light Ride the Christmas Party and of course CHRISTMAS (not related to motorcycles, unless you are getting parts for Christmas).

Anyway we are going to have our First annual Bake Sale at the De-cember meeting, should be a Blast I heard that Roger Walls, is actually gonna bake and bring to sell and I have it on good authority that he is an excellent cook. This is a mini Chapter fundraiser so we can have more BBQ's and other Chapter related fun.

Our Christmas party should be really nice, we had a lot of fun last year and the gifts people brought to swap were great. We will be having some real good raffle gifts but you have to be there to win. So contact Sue A.S.A.P.

Well I guess I had better close, I am so excited about the events this month, I will be surprised if I get any sleep. Then next month/Year we will start all the FUN again. We are taking suggestions for the Annual Jan first Ride. (provided it doesn't rain) so get your ideas in for that day.

Have a great HO HO HOliday Season.

From our District Directors, The turkey has been consumed, we spent time with family and friends, and then we start to realize that 2007 is drawing to a close. Where has the time gone? So much has happened. What a thankful time we had at Thanksgiving with my family here (although JR and I are very used to having this house for 2 not 9!) and then my sister and her chil-

dren stayed and helped to decorate the house for Christmas. Yes Christmas, have you started your shopping?? A wonderful update to the tragic events of last month is that no GWRRA member lost their home! Good job to all the firefighters and first, second and third responders. A valiant effort was made by all of them and they did an awesome job. There is some damage, but Mike and Elma Maury’s home now has a fresh coat of paint, a new look for the entry and will soon have new plants where burned ones once stood. We did have a member across the freeway from the Maury’s, Bruce and Janet Smith, who lost their garage and in it their GoldWing and their son’s Mustang. To read their ordeal, a very well written piece to give you a taste of what happened in these fires, go to www.gwrra-ca1f.org and look for the December newsletter. We had a mem-ber of Chapter 1R who lived in Running Springs and we are pleased to hear that they are also fine. We truly have much to be thankful about!!! As many of you know, Chapter 1F was not able to have its fun raiser this year, so put those costumes away for next year as they are planning a fantastic event for 2008! They will donate the registration funds from this fun run to help the fire victims here in San Diego and they thank you for allowing them to do that with your registration money, this is truly the right thing to do! So as the New Year approaches, we get ready for changes in GWRRA (more to come in January’s issue) and our own new year’s resolutions. It is also time to start looking at our calendars and planning our trips and budgets. We know that members want to support all of the chapters in California and with the size of our state that isn’t always easy! Chapters Y and L are combing their events into 1 weekend so more of you can come, what a great idea! Pick out the events that you just don’t want to miss and plan for those and then if you can, send in one registration to those that you can’t make to help that chapter with its fund raiser. It is generally a nominal cost and it can really assist a chapter is planning their events for the year.

Chapters generally send out comp’d registrations to each chapter and if you win it and can’t go, give it to someone who can. We want to thank those chapters who assisted us out this year so we could attend each and every chapter fund raiser!! We had a blast and we are looking forward to 2008!! The dates will be on the District website by mid-December, that web ad-dress is www.gwrra-ca.org. We look forward to seeing you all again soon. My favorite holiday is Christmas and I am looking forward to enjoying all the sites and sounds of the holiday. JR and I want to thank each and every one of you for your membership in GWRRA and in sharing your adven-tures on your GoldWing with us. We want to thank all of the Chapter Di-rectors and their Assistants for their leadership and their devotion. Some of you will become “formers” with the new year and we want you to know how very much you are appreciated and we know you won’t be going far ☺. We want to thank the Chapter Educators and their Assistants for their commitment to Rider Ed and helping to make all of us better riders. To all chapter staffs, thank you for your involvement, it’s the team effort that helps make a difference 1 member at a time! Then to our awesome District staff, we humbly thank you for everything you do for all the members. Some members don’t even know what you do, but without your efforts the state would not run as smoothly as it does! To our Assistants, thank you all so much for assisting us in running the state, we value each and every one of you and your input to this states success! It is all about the “full steam team” and through each of our efforts we make a difference 1 member at a time! We wish you and your families a fantastic holiday season! If someone in your family is serving our country, please tell them thank you from their GWRRA California family and to be safe and come home soon! We pray that we will all stay safe, healthy, happy and prosperous now and into 2008! So now as we ride into the new year, JR and I wish you all a Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah, happy what ever you may celebrate and a wonderful New Year! Anita and JR
