INTRODUCTION
The history of the program dates back over 20 years to 1993, when a partnership was set up between Griffith University
and the PGA of Australia. In January 2005, The PGA International Golf Institute (PGA IGI) commenced as an RTO, and has
become a leader in golf education in Australia.
The PGA IGI provides broad and comprehensive industry training in all aspects of golf administration and management. An
innovative and forward thinking institution, the PGA IGI is one of the most recognised golf education providers in Australia.
A number of our esteemed alumni are now working throughout the world in golf and business management.
We are a wholly owned subsidiary of the PGA of Australia.

The PGA IGI is bound by the requirements of the ESOS Act 2000 in all of its operations and interactions as depicted in the
National Code 2007 and Education (Overseas Students) Regulation 1998.

Training Organisations (RTO’s) 2015. We Will: Provide quality training and assessment across all RTO operations, adhere
to principles of access and equity and maximise outcomes for students, establish and maintain management systems, which

safeguard the interest and welfare of students in all training and assessment situations.

ABOUT THE GOLF MANAGEMENT PROGRAM
The PGA IGI Golf Management Program is delivered at the PGA IGI Campus located on Australia’s Gold Coast. This one year
program incorporates the nationally recognised qualification 10459NAT Diploma of Golf Management.
In delivering Australia’s only Diploma of Golf Management qualification, the PGA IGI focuses on providing its graduates with
job ready outcomes for a career in golf. The program focuses on the business, administration and management within the golf
industry, students will learn the skills and knowledge used in the golf industry today within golf clubs, associations and golfing
organisations.
Throughout the PGA IGI Golf Management Program, students undertake golf development classes to gain a greater
understanding of the sport of golf. The PGA IGI provides students with access to golf courses and practice facilities to assist in
their golfing requirements. The golf development and access the PGA IGI provides its students, can assist those students who
have a goal of entering the PGA Trainee Program with the PGA of Australia, through the PGA IGI Student Pathways.

INDUSTRY LEADING PRESENTERS
We focus on providing students with the best industry practices as part of their learning with PGA IGI. To achieve
these we have guest speakers who are involved in the golf industry each and every day, to come in and present in
their field of expertise.
Our guest speakers are members and/or work for a number of golf’s industry bodies such as PGA of Australia, Golf
Management Australia (GMA), Australian Golf Course Superintendants Association (AGCSA), Golf QLD, Golf NSW
and more.
We utilise the experience of golf industry consultants, who work regularly with golf clubs and industry bodies,
imparting their knowledge and experience on to our students.

The PGA IGI Golf Management Program, incorporating 10459NAT Diploma of Golf Management, provides students with

The 10459NAT Diploma of Golf Management covers areas of business and management throughout its study. Although much
of the learning is specific to the golf industry, these basic principles of business and management can be applied throughout
future career opportunities.
The business and management skills covered during the program, can lay the foundations for students moving into Bachelor
Degree programs. It will also provide students with skills sets for their future workplace requirements following successful
completion of the qualification.

UNITS OF COMPETENCY
The Golf Management Program is made up of 17 Core & 3 Elective Units of Competency. The areas of study are specific
to the business and management of the golf industry, providing students with job ready information for a career in golf.
Assessment may take a variety of forms including written, observation, tests, presentation, assignments and verbal
questioning. Assessment outcomes will be either competent or not yet competent.
10459NAT Diploma of Golf Management has been specifically written for the golf sector and is a truly unique product for
the golf industry. This is a competency based qualification.
To successfully complete the qualification 10459NAT Diploma of Golf Management, students must be competent in17

Throughout the Golf Management Program, the PGA IGI provides students with golf access across the one year program.
During each semester, students will be involved in the process of golf development. They will undertake a number of
hands on activities for the program, as they focus on specifics for golf such as:
managing golf competitions
fitness and conditioning for the sport of golf
developing and implementing junior golf programs
interpreting and applying the rules of golf to the golf course in competition

home base is Sanctuary Cove Golf & Country Club—The
Palms Course
The program’s academic classes are held in classroom
facilities at Sanctuary Cove

Students receive golf course access on the Palms Course,
provided by PGA IGI

Successful completion of Year 12 studies or equivalent, or
Diploma level studies or higher (e.g. Advanced Diploma,

Applications are open all year round for PGA IGI Gold Coast Campus intakes. Students must apply prior to the closing
application date for each intake as outlined above. To apply please follow these steps:
1. Fill out PGA IGI Gold Coast Campus application form
2. Provide certified copies of 2 identification documents (e.g. Passport, Drivers Licence; Birth Certificate, ID Card)
3. Provide certified copies of prior education (Completion of Year 12, Diploma, Bachelor Degree)
4. Provide golf handicap records/details of golfing history

10459NAT Diploma of Golf Management provides articulation into selected Bachelor Degrees with Griffith University. The
Diploma earns up to an equivalent one year credit into Bachelor Degree programs at Griffith University's Gold Coast or
Nathan Campus locations.
PATHWAY TO UNIVERSITY
Students can study three years in Australia, undertaking a 1 year + 2 year program with PGA IGI and Griffith University.
Successful completion of 10459NAT Diploma of Golf Management earns 80 CP towards Bachelor of Business (majoring in Sports Management),
Bachelor of Business (majoring in Event Management) or Bachelor of International Hotel & Tourism Management at Griffith University

PATHWAYS TO PGA OF AUSTRALIA
Students studying through face to face study with PGA IGI Programs, have the unique opportunity to articulate into the
PGA Trainee Program or PGA Professional Year (PY) and become a Full Vocational Member of the PGA of Australia (PGA
Professional). Students must meet entry requirements and be accepted into the program, as outlined by PGA Academy.

Students must successfully complete the PGA IGI Diploma of Golf Management, Bachelor Degree and ongoing PGA IGI Golf Skills

The PGA IGI Player Development Program, delivered alongside study of the 10459NAT Diploma of Golf Management, is
non-accredited training focusing on golf improvement and development. Supported by PGA IGI Programs Manager and PGA
Golf Professionals, you will gain access to leading golf instructors who have helped developed elite amateurs and tour profes-
sionals to the next level. This is delivered over one year. The PGA IGI Player Development Program includes:
90 hours of group coaching sessions with PGA IGI Golf Coach
30 minute and 1 hour private lessons with PGA IGI Golf Coach
Ongoing Skills Testing and Video Analysis of your golf swing
3d biometric analysis sessions

PGA OF AUSTRALIA PATHWAYS
The Professional Golfers Association (PGA) of Australia (RTO No. 22044) is the peak body for professional golf in Australia.
The PGA of Australia is delivers education to professional golfers, and golfers studying to become a Full Vocational Member of
the PGA of Australia.
Successful graduates of the Golf Management Program can access PGA IGI Pathways into the PGA Trainee Program and the
PGA Professional Year (PY) Program. The PY Program is exclusive to graduates of the PGA IGI. These two programs are
available for those who wish to turn their passion for golf into a career as a Full Vocational Member of the PGA of Australia.
Studies in both programs are a combination of on-the-job training, face to face training schools and online learning delivered
over the calendar year. In addition, students will ensure they retain a professional playing standard through entry in regular
PGA Trainee tournaments. All students wishing to enter either program, must meet the program entry requirements outlined
on www.pga.org.au/educaton.
PGA PROFESSIONAL YEAR (PY) PROGRAM
This one year program is available to students who have successfully completed 10459NAT Diploma of Golf Management with
PGA IGI, Bachelor Degree with PGA IGI Partner Institutions and the PGA IGI Ongoing Golf Skills Programs and meet outlined
entry requirements.
The PGA PY Program is made up of both accredited and non-accredited training. Upon successful completion of all elements
of the PGA PY Program graduates may receive:

STUDENT INFORMATION
TRANSPORT
Students are responsible to provide their own transport to
and from facilities. The PGA IGI does not run shuttle
services for students. Student have the following options of
transport on the Gold Coast (we strongly recommend
students buy a car):
Buy a Car - Students will require a drivers licence
prior to arrival. Price range for cars from $5000
(used) to $18000 and over (new)
Bus - Not always practical for students carrying golf
clubs. Buses do run from Southport to nearby
Sanctuary Cove Village every hour.

LIVING COSTS
Living costs on the Gold Coast are generally considered
lower than capital cities in Australia, the UK and America.
Australia offers a high standard of living for students.
In addition to your student fees, you will generally need a
minimum of AUD $18000 to meet your living expenses each
year. This would include accommodation, food, transport
and leisure. These are minimal costs, and may differ for
individuals.
EXTRAS
If you choose to play additional competition rounds,
tournaments, or additional practice at facilities not part of
your PGA IGI access, these costs will be extra and
incurred at the individuals expense.
ACCOMMODATION
Students have various accommodation options, from shared to private accommodation. There is also purpose built
student accommodation in close proximity to Griffith University, or Homestay options living with an Australian family.
Rental cost will vary from $150 per week (private room in shared accommodation), or from $200 per week for fully
furnished accommodation and above. Rental costs tend to be higher on the Gold Coast, the closer to the beach front, in
areas such as Surfers Paradise.
Private Share Accommodation - Shared accommodation in private houses or apartments.
Student Accommodation - There are 4 student built accommodation complexes located near Griffith University
at Southport. These are privately owned and operated, purpose built for student life. They are approximately 15-20

STUDENT INFORMATION
ACADEMIC EXPECTATIONS
This course requires a balance between academic effort
with your practical golf. Failure to attend classes, submit
assessments by due dates or poor academic behaviour may
affect your selection in representative teams, and in some
cases your golf access being suspended for a
predetermined period.
RPL & CREDIT TRANSFER
Direct Credit Transfer (CT) and Recognised Prior Learning
(RPL) is made available to students upon application for all
programs of study delivered through PGA IGI. Students
applying for CT or RPL must follow the PGA IGI RPL
Application process, along with submitting required
documentation.
POLICIES
To comply with legislative requirements, we have a number of policies and procedures in place. These are outlined in full in the
PGA IGI Student Handbook, available in full at www.pgaigi.com, or in paper form at our office.
Privacy Act
We are bound by the Privacy Act (1988) which regulates the way we are able to collect, use and disable personal information.
Information is collected on this form and during your enrolment in order to meet our obligations under the ESOS Act and the
National Code 2007; to ensure student compliance with the conditions of their visas and their obligations under Australian
immigration laws generally. The authority to collect this information is contained in the Education Services for Overseas Students
Act 2000, the Education Services for Overseas Students Regulations 2001 and the National Code of Practice for Registration
Authorities and Providers of Education and Training to Overseas Students 2007. Information collected about you on this form
and during your enrolment can be provided, in certain circumstances, to the Australian Government and designed authorities, if
relevant, the Tuition Assurance Scheme and the ESOS Assurance Fund Manager. In other circumstances, information collected
on this form or during your enrolment can be disclosed without your consent where authorised or required by law.

Professionalism
At all times you are expected to conduct yourself honestly, ethically and in accordance with standard and principles of
professional golf conduct and academic study. The PGA IGI has a zero tolerance level for student misconduct and lack of
professionalism.
Refund of Fees
If you accept a place offered by the PGA IGI and you pay the fees associated, a binding contract is created between you and the
PGA IGI. Processes apply to those wishes to access a refund. Please refer to the PGA IGI Refund Policy found at www.pgaigi.com

ORIENTATION
Orientation is an activity intended to provide you with valuable information and assistance to help you make an effective
and efficient transition into your studies. Orientation is held on a selected day, the week prior to classes commencing in
the PGA IGI Golf Management Program. Attendance at orientation is compulsory for all enrolling students.

GRADUATION
You will be eligible to receive the qualification 10459NAT Diploma of Golf Management when 17 core units and 2 elective units of
competency have been successfully completed. If you do not meet all exit requirements for the award, you will be provided with a
Statement of Attainment for all units which have been successfully completed.
MEDICAL ISSUES
Where a medical condition exists, we require evidence of a medical examination and clearance by a qualified medical practitioner (at your
expense) prior to enrolment. Notification prior to entry is required of any medical conditions that may hinder any participation in the
program. You must report any injuries you occur during the course of your study. You must allow us to act and assist to arrange any
necessary first aid or medical treatment should it be in your best interests and if your emergency contact is unable to be contacted.
LEARNING SUPPORT
Students with the PGA IGI Golf Management Program have access to some of the golf industry’s best mind who will present to them as
guests speakers throughout the program. Students are provided with a number of readings and information throughout their study of their
program, via access to the PGA’s e-learning student platform, The Fairway.
If a student is struggling to understand program information during study of the 10459NAT Diploma of Golf Management, they should liaise
with the PGA IGI Programs Manager and discuss the matter further.
Deferral and Leave of Absence
At the discretion of the PGA IGI Senior Manager, a deferral or leave of absence may be approved prior to the commencement of a semester.
You are required to complete PGA IGI request forms for this process to occur, available from our Student Services.

APPLICATION PROCESS
Steps to Apply
(1) Complete the PGA IGI Application Form and select your semester of study (Submission of an application, does not
automatically guarantee a course placement), along with payment of PGA IGI Application Fee
(2) Attached certified copies of all qualifications as outlined in the application form, including high school certificates,
education certificates and relevant other documentation.
Copies can be certified by:
- Official Records Department of the institution that originally issued the documents
- A Justice of Peace (JP) or Notary Public
- An Australian Diplomatic Mission of Australian Education Centre
(3) Submit an application form, along with your required certified documentation. Applications can be sent to:

(5) Read, Sign and Return your Letter of Offer and Fee Agreement to PGA IGI.

by bank cheque or direct deposit. Provide PGA IGI with proof of payment (Such as receipt). Please quote your name on

urgency, to seek and provide appropriate medical care and attention
All contracts between you and PGA IGI are governed by the Commonwealth of Australia. This procedure, and availability of complaints and appeal
processes, does not remove the right of the student to take action under Australia’s consumer protection laws. The PGA IGI may by written notice,
vary conditions of enrolment as may be necessary to comply with any law, regulation or amendment thereof under which it operates, either state or
