Behold now, praise the Lord, all ye servants of the Lord, praise the Lord. Psalm 134:1, alt.

* CALL TO WORSHIP Let us start this service well, by remembering that it is not we who choose Christ, but Christ who chooses us, that we are not here because of our goodness but because of Christ’s grace, that we are not here to enlighten ourselves, but to allow Christ to enliven us, that we have not come to be entertained but to worship God with heart, soul, mind, and strength.

* HYMN 592 When the Church of Jesus

HEARING GOD’S WORD PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION Holy God, Word made flesh, let us come to this word open to being surprised. Silence our agendas; banish our assumptions; cast out our casual detachment. FEASTING AT THE TABLE OF GRACE* THE GREAT THANKSGIVING See Insert

THE LORD’S PRAYER Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

RECEIVING THE BREAD AND CUP

COMMUNION HYMN 629 You Satisfy the Hungry Heart

You satisfy the hungry heart with gift of finest wheat. Come, give to us, O saving Lord, the bread of life to eat.

You give yourself to us, O Lord; then selfless let us be, to serve each other in your name in truth and charity.

You satisfy the hungry heart with gift of finest wheat. Come, give to us, O saving Lord, the bread of life to eat. Words: Omer Westendorf Music: GIFT OF FINEST WHEAT - Robert E. Kreutz © 1977 by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Published by International Liturgy Publications (All rights reserved. Used by permission OneLicense.net #A705700.)

PRAYER AFTER RECEIVING In gratitude, in deep gratitude for this moment, this meal, these people, we give ourselves to you. Send us out to live as changed people because we have shared the Living Bread and cannot remain the same. Ask much of us, expect much from us, enable much by us, encourage many through us. So, Lord, may we live to your glory, both as inhabitants of earth and citizens of the commonwealth of heaven. Amen.

THE GREAT THANKSGIVING

The Lord be with you.

And also with you.

Lift up your hearts.

We lift them up to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

It is right to give our thanks and praise.

It is right, and a good and joyful thing,

always and everywhere to give thanks to you,

almighty God, creator of heaven and earth.

You formed us in your image

and breathed into us the breath of life.

When we turned away, and our love failed,

your love remained steadfast.

You delivered us from captivity,

made covenant to be our sovereign God,

and spoke to us through your prophets,

who looked for that day

when justice shall roll down like waters

and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream,

when nation shall not lift up sword against nation,

neither shall they learn war anymore.

And so,

with your people on earth

and all the company of heaven,

we praise your name

and join their unending hymn:

Page 4: GOING OUT TO SERVE SUNDAY PARKING BIRTHDAY BLESSING

… And so,

in remembrance of these your mighty acts in Jesus Christ,

we offer ourselves in praise and thanksgiving

as a holy and living sacrifice,

in union with Christ’s offering for us,

as we proclaim the mystery of faith:

Pastor continues leading the prayer, asking God to pour out

God’s Holy Spirit on us and this meal.

… Through your Son Jesus Christ,

with the Holy Spirit in your holy church,

all honor and glory is yours, almighty God,

now and for ever.
