The Ancient Plan of God Before God set creation in motion…

A plan centered on Jesus Christ “For He [the Christ] was foreknown before the

foundation of the world…” 1 Peter 1:20a And it included you, too!

“…but has appeared in these last times for the sake of you.” 1 Peter 1:20b

“…who are chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father…” 1 Peter 1:1b-2a

In a nutshell:And coming to Him as to a living stone which has been rejected by men, but is choice and precious in the sight of God, you also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 2:4-5

For this is contained in Scripture: "BEHOLD, I LAY IN ZION A CHOICE STONE, A PRECIOUS CORNER stone, AND HE WHO BELIEVES IN HIM WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED." 1 Peter 2:6

To God, the OWNER OF THE UNIVERSE, it is "precious"...Boy, that's some costly BUILDING: at the outset, just the "Cornerstone", alone, is precious!IL:If I bought a new car, to me that would be quite "Precious", because it's just so costly! To Bill Gates, however, I'm sure it's just not that big of a deal! He's far more concerned about purchasing his $50 million house - something staggeringly expensive, to me!Yet, here's God, owner of Bill Gate's fortune and the rest of the universe saying, "Boy, this Cornerstone, now there's something really costly!"

Transition: right there, the value to God alone tells us this should be valuable to us as well.But there's ADDITIONAL value to YOU: an end to dissapointment...Dissapointed people: look at this! Something's very, very wrong with your life to be riddled with dissapointment...you're NOT TAKING HOLD OF THAT WHICH IS TRULY PRICELESS! ...not coming to grips with something VERY FOUNDATIONAL to Creation itself: this Cornerstone...do you understand what is up with this?

Make a distinction between small-time dissapointment ("Aw, I missed the green light!" or, "The Steelers lost the Super-Bowl"!) and living in abiding defeat:

Valuable to you, too: an end to disappointment.

This precious value, then, is for you who believe; but for those who disbelieve, "THE STONE WHICH THE BUILDERS REJECTED, THIS BECAME THE VERY CORNER stone," and, "A STONE OF STUMBLING AND A ROCK OF OFFENSE"; for they stumble because they are disobedient to the word, and to this doom they were also appointed. 1 Peter 2:7-8

He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things--and the things that are not--to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him. 1 Corinthians 1:26-29

This is why you must be “Born Again”…But you are A CHOSEN RACE, A royal PRIESTHOOD, A HOLY NATION, A PEOPLE FOR God's OWN POSSESSION, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; for you once were NOT A PEOPLE, but now you are THE PEOPLE OF GOD; you had NOT RECEIVED MERCY, but now you have RECEIVED MERCY. 1 Peter 2:9-10 (NIV)
