EGYPT!!

† The Egyptians believed that the sky turns red (from sunset) because the serpent of evil, who tries to destroy the sun. The god of sky (Horus) fights him.

† Most Egyptians believed that the gods were unlikely to help them out with problems in everyday life.

† Most Egyptians believed in many superstition.

† Gods often enter a creature.

† Egyptians were more scared of gods than their rivals army.

† Their beliefs would be according to where they grow up and lived.

† Most people in Egypt are Islam.

† Religion is very important in ancient Egypt.

† They never questions their beliefs that have been handed down to them.

† Afterlife was a famous part of their beliefs.

† The Greeks beliefs were a part of their social identity.

† They would have prayers and festivals.

† Religion is very important in ancient Greece.

† They had to believe that religion was useful. (To explain the unexplained)

† They believed that all gods were in human form.

† Since there was no bible or church, poets would make up stories about the Gods.

† Greek gods did not make the world, but lived on it.

† The gods didn’t love humans.

† Greeks believed that gods would protect them.

ROME

† Early Roman religion was based on sprits.

† Religion is important in ancient Rome.

† Romans believed that gods controlled their lives.

† The Romans spent a lot of time worshiping the gods.

† Each god had a special festival day.(which was usually a public holiday)

† Each temple (where people would worship the gods) would usually have the same building design.

† Animals would sometimes be sacrificed for the gods in temples.

† Romans were very superstitious. 

† They believed that luck was controlled be the gods.

† The Romans believed that if the gods were happy, than you would have good luck.

† They also believed that if the gods were mad, than you would have bad luck.

† The Romans believed that if an Emperor died, than he becomes a god.

† They would sometimes worship in their own homes.

CANADA EH!

† There are lots of religion in Canada.

† Canada is similar to the U.S.A. as they both have lots of different cultures and religions.

† Canada is a country without an official religion.

† 75% of Canadians are Christian.

† Religion in Canada has slowly decreased over the years.

CANADA EH!

† 2% of Canada is Muslim.

† Almost half of all Canadian Buddhists live in Ontario.

† Before 1971, only 1% of Canadians said they weren't religious, 20 years later 23% of Canadians said that they were not religious.

† Immigrants that come to Canada tend to be more religious than non immigrants.

† People on the eastern side of Canada are more religious than the people on the west coast.

MESOPOTAMIA

† They worshiped lots of gods and goddesses.

† They thought that the gods influenced much of what happened to them in their lives. 

† Each city in Mesopotamia had its own god.

† In the center of each city, there was a temple that was built for whatever god the city worshiped.

† That was where the priests would live and make sacrifices.

MESOPOTAMIA

† The temples looked like step pyramids with a flat top. 

† The Sumerian gods often had human characteristics. (sometimes they were good, and sometimes they were bad)

† Although Anu (king of all gods) was a very important Mesopotamian god, archeologists have yet to find a picture of him.

† They also believed in genies, demons, and evil spirits.

† They believed that the Earth floated on an ocean of fresh water.
