Godrej introduces India’s first safe for car called MOTORMATE

Snapshot: The secure and portable safe has been priced in India at Rs 2,499.

Many a times, when a car is left unattended for a prolonged time at public places, you might come back to broken window or cracked hinges torealise your precious iPad or smartphone is missing. Godrej Security Solutions (GSS) has come up with a device to tackle such unpleasantsituations. Making its foray into the automotive sector, GSS has presented the first-of-its-kind safe for cars called MOTORMATE that will retailin the market at Rs 2,499. The secure and portable safe can be kept anywhere in the car and can be used to store small electronic devices,

The MOTORMATE car safe features a multi strand, braided steel that makes it easy and safe to attach to various reinforcements in the car. The safefeatures a soft case along the inside wall to keep the valuables secured inside away from scratches and abrasions. The safe also boasts of a featurethat lets a wire to pass through, allowing you to charge your mobile, camera and other electronic gadgets.

Godrej Security Solutions unveils Motormate, a car safe to secure valuables inside the cabin.

This product is designed to protect valuables such as cash, wallets, cellphones, credit cards etc. on the go. The safe can be hiddenanywhere in the car.

Thank you GTO for the information on this nice product from Godrej.

Pretty helpful while on long highway trips and in places where parking is a scarcity near the work place so havingvaluable items inside the car will not let us go around in peace. Such solutions can give some relief to safety.

Honestly, I don't see much utility in this. Going by the first photograph, the internal dimensions of the safe shouldn't bemore than 6" x 4" x 2" - and I can't think of anything that size which I'd rather not carry on my person but hide in a carsafe. Things such as my wallet or credit cards, or even a small P&S camera. Maybe a bundle of 1000-rupee notes? Ora few gold biscuits? Naah, if I had them on me, I wouldn't leave that in the car, even inside a safe like this!

As far as the securing system (a braided steel cable) is concerned, someone who breaks into my car would also beequipped with a small bolt cutter that can take care of such a cable. Even the lock does not inspire confidence.

Owners of soft-top Thars might consider these useful to some extent.

A biometric version will be more helpful.

Soft tops can derive the maximum benefit.Cant say much if they drive away with the car as it will be assumed that the safe is holding something valuable. . Having said this, I might end up buying one.
