The coolness of the early morning brings a sense of expectation. The air is fresh and it reminds me of newness and possibility. There is a quickness about it. Maybe the change from summer to fall makes one alert and pregnant with the hope of something more; but, regardless of what it is, I feel happy and excited about what lies ahead. Similarly, the fall season brings a sense of expectation for St. Paul. During the next few months we enter a time of discernment, planning, and consecration for our future. We offer ourselves to God because God has revealed himself to us. We experience his grace, imparting a hope for something new and something more. The way the writer of Hebrews puts it is, “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1). In this verse, faith and hope are related meaning our connection to God in Christ is founded upon the hope God implants inside of us through His Spirit. The net effect is we are a people of hope because of what Christ has done. It is this reason that our theme for consecration is God’s Graciousness, Our Gratefulness. Over the next 6 weeks, I invite you to consider all the ways God has blessed you. Because of God’s unending graciousness, our response is gratitude. All of us have received where we haven’t sown. We are the benefactors. Therefore, it is right to offer our lives, our service, our presence, and our gifts to God.

There are three upcoming Home Fellowships which will give you an opportunity to meet St. Paul’s new Senior Pastor, Shane Green. BR and Helen Johnson on Oct 23 at 6:30 pm and Sandy Coolik on Oct 25 at 12 noon, have joined several St. Paul members to host receptions at their homes. There will also be one in the St. Paul Fellowship Hall on Tuesday Oct 30, at 6:00 pm. These fellowships will give Shane an opportunity to meet St. Paul members in a casual setting. It will also give him some insight into the pulse of our ministries. In that regard, Shane will be posing the following 3 questions to each group – please consider how you would answer these questions. These sessions will be a great time for us to reflect on what God has done, is doing, and will continue to do in the life of our church.

    Three Questions

    1. Why do you come to St. Paul?

    2. What is the one ministry that you feel exemplifies St. Paul?

    3. If you had unlimited resources (time, money and people) what would be the first thing you would do at St. Paul?

Dress casually, light refreshments will be served, and a nursery will be provided by reservation only. Space is limited. If you would like to attend, R.S.V.P. to 706.327.7419 or email [email protected]

If you have always wanted to be a part of the Valley Interfaith Promise Ministry, but missed the training classes, you’re in luck! On Tuesday, October 16, at 6:30 p.m., a V.I.P. training class will be held in the Cornerstone classroom. A light meal will be served and a nursery will be provided. Don’t miss the chance to get involved in this vital ministry! Contact Grace Bailey for more info: [email protected].

Three Questions 1.
