My parents’ strengths complemented each other to build the business. All 7 of us children were a part of building the business alongside of them. We all dug in and learned all aspects of the business from driving a truck, pulling orders, customer service, quoting jobs, implementing the first computer system, collecting funds, paying vendors and opening new branches. This legacy has blessed so many lives and all because two individuals were willing to risk it all with 7 children. All employees can utilize PEP to quickly expand their knowledge base

and learn the basics of the products we sell, how they work and how they are used in the field. This knowledge-based training program allows you to strengthen the skills that each employee needs to improve, grow, and

thrive.

It is our desire to continue to enable our staff to rise up and be the expert resource our customer relies on. PEP is necessary for future growth of our employees and our company as we

expand our offerings and add locations. We want to help develop our future superstars.

We will utilize outside educators, industry professionals and trainers along with current employees, department heads and vendors’ experts to lead classroom style courses, as well as, produce online training videos, power point presentations and quizzes for quick reference and future employee education. Once we get the basic courses developed, we will add technical classes to the mix, to assist in all areas, as you grow with us. We are very excited about this program. Introducing 3 Ways To Get Recognized At Imperial:

The “Imperial Award” will be given to team members that represent an over and above positive attitude, team player, reliable, serve others, go beyond expectations, and do what they say they are going to do. These individuals will be nominated by their peers, branch manager and area manager. These awards will be given quarterly with a special prize and highlighted in our Point of Connection newsletter. This award is available for all employees, excluding managers, supervisors and sales.

The “Warrior Award” will be given to managers and supervisors who represent our mission statement, serve others, ethical conduct, enrich the lives of others, team building, building community, better the organization, go the extra mile and fight the fight each and every day! These individuals will be nominated by peers and corporate. These awards will be given annually at the leadership conference with a special prize and highlighted in our Point of Connection newsletter.

The “Sales Award” will be given to sales people who meet these qualifications, the million dollar club, the highest number of new customers that purchase, highest gross profit, highest IST sales, and highest percentage of growth. These awards will be given annually at the leadership / sales conference with a special prize and highlighted in our Point of Connection newsletter.

2018 started with two big additions, the opening of Santa Clarita and the purchase of the Rainmakers in Simi Valley. These new locations brought us into two new counties, L.A. and Ventura County, led by Area Manager John Roche! Santa Clarita is off to a great start under the leadership of Cesar Cruz and his team. The Simi Valley location, led by Wilver Montenegro and the staff that joined us from Rainmakers, has not missed a beat and has quickly become a part of the ISS family.

There were also a couple of moving events in 2018, both Imperial Technical Services (ITS) and Imperial Synthetic Turf (IST) settled into their new location. This latest move puts them right next to the corporate offices/Anaheim branch. ITS is especially happy with the new location, which provides them room to grow and

avoid the moving trucks that have come too often over the past several years due to their growth.

Looking back to the past two years, 2017 and 2016! The Chula Vista branch moved to a better location in National City, and Escondido moved a half mile, into a huge facility. We also saw the Santa Clara location make a short move to an upgraded location. Rancho Cordova opened in 2016 and now has a strong footing in their Sacramento market.

We would like to give an honorable mention to Menifee and Lakeside, which opened in 2014. Imperial Sprinkler Supply is standing strong and growing, stay tuned for more upcoming growth!

Have you ever wondered how all of our products are shipped so quickly to all of our branches?

Here is a quick rundown on how our shuttle service works. When a transfer is entered into the system, the pick ticket is printed within minutes at the shipping branch. Once the transfer department or order pullers receive the order, the order is pulled, staged and scheduled to ship on the next shuttle run for the receiving location. The company has multiple shuttle runs covering all the counties represented by ISS branches.

Our Anaheim headquarters is the primary hub for all locations; in addition, we have our Escondido location as a hub for the San Diego area and our Livermore location as the hub for Northern California. With the addition of the Santa Clarita location, it will soon serve as a hub for Los Angeles and Ventura county stores.

Just last year alone over 22,000 transfers were created and shuttled between locations. This helps us provide products to our customers quicker and more efficiently, rather than solely relying on receiving material from a vendor. This would not be possible without the hard work and dedication of our amazing logistics crew.

The Imperial Synthetic Turf (IST) brand was launched in July 2016, by Henry Van Antwerp, who has brought his vast knowledge of the synthetic turf market and enthusiasm to Imperial

Sprinkler Supply. IST continues to show strong growth through the combined efforts of the branches, sales reps and its knowledgeable staff. IST is now fully settled into their new home right next to the ISS Anaheim branch. With an industry leading product line, industry knowledge, service and training, we are looking forward to continued growth. Remember, synthetic turf provides both beauty and water savings benefits. With the ever presence of the looming drought and tightening

governmental water regulations, ISS (with our complete irrigation & landscape offerings) is set up for another strong year. The 2018 Irrigation Show otherwise known as The IA Show, will be held at the Long Beach Convention Center, December 3rd -7th. The Irrigation Show is a national show and the world’s largest trade show dedicated to irrigation,

which rotates its annual event around the country. Imperial Sprinkler Supply will be taking advantage of this

opportunity, showing a strong presence at the event with a 20 x 20 booth (# 1968). Our booth is strategically located close to the very popular new product section. This gives us a chance to catch up with the industry’s new innovative ideas and of course connect with new customers.

The Irrigation Show is one of the few trade shows that draw big crowds to view new solutions to any and all issues in agriculture, landscape, golf and turf irrigation. We will be showing off our ITS and IST brands, promoting a several new offerings, along with our full line of irrigation products. We are all looking forward to this opportunity to present ISS as the leading irrigation and landscape distributor in California.

Rene Perez’s (Anaheim Dispatch) son Abraham was diagnosed with Pearson’s Syndrome. This is a very rare type of Mitochondrial disorder, which has already affected his vision and his hearing. CHOC Children’s Hospital has been a part of their life ever since

Abraham was diagnosed with Pearson’s Syndrome and has been great in getting Abraham all the care he needs. Abraham is such a trooper and a fighter, no matter how sick he gets he is always in great spirits.

ITS originally founded as Moriel Controller Repair (MCR) by Luis Moriel, became part of ISS in 2005 as ITS.

MCR was started in Luis’s garage after seeing the opportunity to put his degree in electrical engineering to use and help customers repair irrigation timers. When Cal-Trans requested the first assembly from MCR they quickly became their biggest client. As time went on, MCR grew bigger with larger engineering projects and ISS saw the opportunity to work hand in hand with MCR. It was officially bought in 2005 and the name was changed to ITS.

Today ITS, continues to grow alongside ISS and help on supplying our industry with irrigation timers, injectors and answering professional technical irrigation questions. With busy schedules, they always find time to do fun events such as donuts every Friday, bagels once a month and teaming up with IST to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, or other accomplishments.

The first half of the year was very busy and productive; Imperial Sprinkler Supply hosted several major events and programs. Looking forward to the next few months, we have several customer events that are scheduled and 2 trade shows. For more information, on upcoming events contact the Marketing Department.

The 3rd Annual Imperial Sprinkler Supply Leadership Conference was another great experience for the ISS management team. The conference focused on team building skills by completing group challenges and an inspirational speech by the expert author of the Playbook, Nathan Jamail.

3rd Annual ISS Golf Tournament supported the charity CASA for Children. Through a true partnership, consisting of customers, vendors and employees, ISS was able to collect hundreds of gifts and raise $30,000 for CASA for children.

We hosted 2 regional ISS Company Picnics in the Southern California area; both the San Diego and Orange County picnics drew many employees and their families for an afternoon of fun in the sun, jumpers and tacos!

The 2nd Annual MLS Galaxy Tailgate Party was an afternoon of fun! With the help of our vendor partners and Imperial Sprinkler Supply employees, we were able to entertain 240 customers and their guests.

The 4th Annual Padres Night is one of our premier San Diego area events. Once again, surpassed expectations with 110 attendees who got to see the Padres take on the Dodgers, with the bonus of having Clayton Kersaw on the mound!

The 5th Annual A’s Baseball hosted 100 customers in a luxury Suite at the Oakland Coliseum. It was a memorable night, connecting with customers and vendors, while cheering the home team to victory!

Get Moving: Step out of the office at least once a day and bring the nature to you! Walking at least 10,000 steps a day improves sleep, lessens stress, and reduces fatigue.

Drink Water before and after walk. Staying hydrated helps to keep you feeling great and increases the positive effects of your walking.

Posture can get sloppy when standing and sitting for long periods of time. Being aware of your posture and modifying it can prevent future back problems.

Scheduling rest as well as friends and family activities will help you to recharge for the following day. This simple schedule change will help manage your time better and plan ahead.

Ditch the Junk and plan your meals. If you plan on eating two or three meals a day and a few snacks at work, plan ahead. Make time to prepare meals for the week and choose balanced snacks that will keep you from the vending machine.

As football season approaches, we thought we would share some nationwide predictions for the 2018 season. Everyone’s goal is to be in the Super bowl 53, but for these 13 teams (The Bengals, Bills, Browns, Cardinals, Chargers, Eagles, Falcons, Jaguars, Lions, Panthers, Texans, Titans and Vikings), they sadly haven’t brought home any wins.
