Is your child a member of a library? Fairhill Library is keen to work with our school and it would be wonderful if every child had a library card. We are promoting reading very strongly in our school and will be organising library visits.

Our vision is ... in St Elizabeth’s we strive to excel in all that we do through working hard and having

respectful relationships based on Gospel values in a safe, happy and nurturing environment embracing a love for lifelong learning.

Parent Helpers/Volunteer

Thank you to everyone who has offered to help in our school in any way. We have 23 parents offering to help with trips, in classes, do art work, come in and talk about their job, etc. This is fantastic and I will be in touch with you. If you can offer to help in any way, please let us know...we would really love to hear from you and any offers are greatly appreciated.

All helpers need a PVG disclosure, we have forms in our school office should you need one.

Miss Waters is running a lunchtime multi-sports club for our younger children and an after school gymnastics club for our older children. The children are thoroughly enjoying this and many thanks to Miss Waters for her work in this area.

Do we have your emergency contact forms returned? Are your contact details up-to-date?

Universal: Centrality of the Human Person

That each may contribute to the common

good and to the building of a society that

places the human person at the center.

Evangelization: Mission to Evangelize

That by participating in the Sacraments

In order to share successes and achievements out of school and for us to keep building up our knowledge of your child, please find a sheet attached that we ask you to complete and return for your child. We will keep these in a folder and celebrate your child’s success at a special Assembly each month. Any time your child or family are celebrating something and you would like us to know, please either drop us a note, or an e-mail or pop in to let our office staff know. We are delighted to hear any good news and will proudly celebrate too. Thank you to those who have completed and sent one in...your child was very proud at our assembly...and we were all delighted! Assessing our ChildrenWe have been busy assessing our children on their reading and spelling skills. You will receive information this week about their reading age, and spelling age. Many factors influence children’s skills in these areas. These include lateness, absence and extended holiday periods, being tired or distracted. We all want the very best for each child and it is important they are in the right frame of mind for their learning each day.

Attached to our newsletter is a leaflet from the Scottish Government called Read, Write, Count, giving ideas to help children with reading, writing and counting skills. For parents accessing our newsletter online , the web address for the information is www.readwritecount.scot
