The Globalscan 6 sorts various types of fruit according to quality and colour: apples, tomatoes, oranges, citrus, peaches, plums, detecting external defects (epidermis) in the visible spectrum and with infra-red light. The Globalscan 6 also sizes by dimension : diameter, length and shape of the fruit.
The Globalscan is equipped with a screen which has sufficient resolution to take advantage of the improved image quality and better resolution of the new HD cameras. HD cameras have much greater resolution than earlier models (5,6 times the number of pixels, so very small defects can be detected and blemish contours can be seen more precisely and the different colours within the same blemish can be analyzed. Also the area of the peduncle and stem end russett are more visible.

The state of the art cameras are extremely sensitive and provide extremely high quality well defined images (integration time is very short) with practically zero distorsion. Additionally the sensor has good colorimetry features which are important for discriminating similar colours such as orange, pink, etc…
The interface is highly ergonomic allowing the operator to be rapidly independent thanks to the results which are displayed both digitally and graphically. The operator can change the settings during production according to the fea-tures of different production lots and the individual quality requirements of the targeted market. The HD cameras provide images which allow detection of very small defects which hitherto were very difficult to see.The camera has a network connection (Gigabit Ethernet) allowing much greater cable lengths (several decametres) The Globalscan 6 offers better treatment capacity thanks to the new HP server, which is more than twice as powerful as the Globalscan 5.Screenshots can be made by the operator, and then sent to MAF Globalscan specialists for fine setting adjustments.
