DSA 6000 Configuration Synchronization.

With the release of the Test Framework 1.8 the Configuration Synchronization feature was in-troduced. With this feature it is possible to automatically update one or more DSA6000 from the same TPIx folder. All TPIx files in the synchronization folder will be installed automatical-ly on all DSA 6000 system pointing to this folder.

Test Programs installed on the DSA 6000 will still remain if you for any reason want to pause or completely stop synchronization, and synchronization will resume unaffected when switched on again.

Preparations before using Configuration Synchronization.

All TPIx files on the GTO web site has been updated with a “Release Code” attached to the file

.

The Synchronization will take place every time the “Test Workflow” is started. Workflow starts automatically when the test program is activated through the Test Control icon. This means that TPIx files moved to the Sync folder while Test Workflow is running will not be installed until Test Workflow is stopped and started again.

TPIx files with names not containing a release code will not be affected by the synchronization feature.

It is recommended to uninstall all pre-viously installed Test Programs before starting with TPIx synchronization. This is easily done through the System Confi-guration SW because it is possible to uninstall entire folders just by marking the folder and click [Uninstall].

Uninstalling Test Programs with Configuration Synchronization active is done by simply re-move the TPIx file from the sync folder and the Test Program will be uninstalled by the next synchronization. Synchronization will not uninstall Test Programs without a Release Code.

Setting up Configuration Synchronization.

To setup the DSA 6000 for Configuration Synchronization open the System configuration software and select the System Settings in the main menu. In the System Settings open the Configuration Synchronization and select “Yes” in “Synchronize Test Programs”.

The “Synchronize Test Programs with Folder” field holds the path to the desired TPIx sync folder. The sync folder can also contain in subfolders for better graphic overview of installed Test Programs.

The “Last Test Programs Synchronized” simply holds the date for the last then DSA was syn-chronized. This will normally be same day as synchronizations perform every time the Test Workflow is started, unless the “Synchronize Test Programs” has been changed to “NO” for pausing the synchronization.

DSA 6000 with network connections vs. stand alone systems.

If the DSA 6000 is connected to the a LAN the folder can be placed on a file server. In this case multiple DSA 6000s can point to the same sync folder and all systems will have the same Test Programs installed. By using synchronizer with DSA 6000 on a LAN connection it is possible to install TPI’s on a DSA 6000 system without physical contact with the system. Simply copy the TPIx files from the GTO web site to the file server folder using a personal PC. Next time the DSA 6000 test workflow is started the new TPIs will be installed og Test Programs will be updated.

If the DSA 6000 is used as a Stand Alone system it is still benificial to use the Syncronization compared to manually installing the Test Programs. In this case the “Synchronize Test Pro-grams with Folder” field just need to point to a folder on the DSA 6000’s own C: drive.

GTO information Internal use only GN ReSound, June 2011 TPIx files collected in Family files.

For Families with many models the GTO web site will in have “Family Files”. Family files are compressed folders enabling the download of multiple files in one download.

The contents of the compressed folder might vary depending on the number of models. In most cases it will be a Family file for Standard products (BTE’s & RIE’s), a file for Custom wireless products and a file for Custom non wireless products.

The Family files can be downloaded directly to the sync folder, but TPIx files needs to be extracted before the synchronizer can use them.

The structure of the sync folder is free and can but it is recommended to have a defined structure for easy maintenance.

It might be in “Family” folders with “price point sub-folders” like the Alera models shown to the left, or with all family files in same folder as shown for the TRUE models, or in any other structure desired.

The Alera structure in the example is almost the same structure found on TPIx pages on the GTO web site.

All TPIx files in the sync folder and its sub-folders will be synchronized, but the structure of the sync folder will not reflect the Test Program Selection window on the DSA 6000 system. It is merely for easy main-tenance of TPIx files.

If a sub-folder is deleted all test Pro-grams in the folder will be unins-talled at the next synchronization.

To download a family folder simply click on the link on the web page and select [Save].

A Family file is a compressed folder and will when extracted create a sub-folder con-taining the TPIx files from the Family file. Point to the folder where you want the Fam-ily sub-folder placed.

From the above structure example it would be in: P:\DSAsync\Alera\Alera 9

Click [Save]

If correct destination was selected in “Save As” click [Next], otherwise [Browse] for selecting de-sired destination.

When download completed click [Open Folder].

In the folder point to the .zip file. Right-click and select Extract All…

When the files are extracted a sub-folder with the TPIx files has been created. These TPIx fils are ready for synchronization.

The .zip can now be deleted to keep a tidy folder structure.

Single TPIx files from the GTO web page can still be downloaded using the “Save as” feature, as described on the web page. Select the desired sync folder / sub-folder as destination.

Programs will be uninstalled.

If new TPIX files have been added to the sync folder the TPI installer au-tomatically starts the installation of the TPIs.

After Uninstalling, Installing and Updating Test Programs a “Result” window will appear.

Click [Close] to end Installer ses-sion. This will open the normal Test Program Selection window and the DSA 6000 system is ready for use.
