AIESEC is the largest youth-run and non-profit organisation in the world. It is a global platform existing in 126 countries which fosters young people to fulfil their leadership potentials. Until now, over 1,000,000 young people have been inspired and developed by AIESEC. Major programmes in offering internship are Global Talent and Global Entrepreneurs.

AIESEC

Global Talent is a 3-18 months overseas internship program that aims to provide professional training, cultural exposure as well as leadership development to year 2-4 students. It can be categorized into business, education and information technology fields.

Students working in the business field can engage in actual working experiences in marketing, human resources management and development on information system. Applicants are preferred to have at least 2 related working experiences in the field.

Various educational opportunities are provided through the programme for youngsters to both inspire others and be inspired by teaching English or other subjects around the globe. Applicants are preferred to have at least 2 related working experiences in the field.

Students with technological skills can take part in internships on application, software and web development. One related working experience is preferred.

Global Entrepreneurs is a 6-10 weeks overseas internship program that aims to foster innovation around the world through providing start-up internship opportunities to students.

English proficiency is much preferred. As there is a possibility of facing culture shock while living in another place, it is essential to have the ability of living and working in a foreign environment. Students are expected to equip themselves with the academic or working qualifications required by their desired internships. The application is opened for students from all disciplines. Prior internship experience is not a prerequisite.

Step 1 Approach: Interested students who have been to our info sessions or have read our mass email may apply through the online application link and submit their CVs for evaluation. Step 2 Explore:Applicants will attend consultancy chats in which they will set their goals and expectations. Followed by contract signing, applicants are required to pay $1000 deposit which is refundable after attending a preparation seminar and pre-trip preparation. Step 3 Initiate: Applicants will set up an account in the AIESEC international portal (opportunities.aiesec.org) where they can browse through different internship opportunities offered by over 126 countries and initiate applications with supervision once they found a suitable internship. Interviews may be required by overseas companies and universities. Step 4 Realize: After receiving confirmation from employers, applicants will pay an amount of HKD 3250-3750 internship fee according to the duration. After attending the preparation seminar and applying for VISA, students can go abroad and actualize their experience. Step 5 Reflect: When students return to Hong Kong, they will complete evaluation tasks to reflect on their personal growth and inspire others in HKU community to take their first step in this global experience.

Q: Is it possible for graduates or alumni to apply for the programme?A: Yes, students can apply within two years of their graduation. Q: Is the programme only available to AIESECers?A: No, the programme is available to all students with no specific requirements on their majors or internship experiences upon completion of year 2. Q: Where are the opportunities come from?A: The overseas AIESEC communities in different universities promote the programme to local companies and bridge partnerships for them so that these cooperations open positions for internship application. Q: How and where can I find internship opportunities?A: Through opportunities.aiesec.org, the international AIESEC portal for overseas entities and universities to upload information regarding the internship opportuni-ties they offer and provide channels for registration. Q: Will I get paid?A: For Global Talent, salary depends on the companies and countries who provide the internship opportunities. For Global Entrepreneurs, they are mostly unpaid but some companies will provide subsidies. Q: Is accommodation provided?A: For Global Talent, provision of accommodation depends on opportunity providers and countries while for Global Entrepreneurs, 1 meal is included in the package.
