U.S. university programs The Global Student Success Program ensures high-potential international students are given the extra support and assistance needed to succeed in U.S. higher education.

As a student in the GSSP, you have the advantage of smaller class sizes and personalized advising, coupled with caring staff ready to assist you as you transition into life in the U.S.

Undergraduate Global Student Success Program (GSSP)The Undergraduate GSSP is a two- or three-semester program, which consists of for-credit courses and provides an academic and cultural bridge from high school to university study. The Undergraduate GSSP is equivalent to the first year of a bachelor’s degree program and students attend classes on the university campus. Upon successful completion of the Undergraduate GSSP, students will move directly into the second year of their chosen undergraduate degree program.

Academic advisingThe academic team and teaching staff are available throughout the semester for individual or group consultation. Academic advisors meet with students regularly to ensure they are progressing successfully through the program and are prepared for the demands of university study. These sessions grant our students the opportunity to discuss any academic or personal concerns, so the student and academic advisor office can work together to find an immediate solution.

Counseling and guidanceAdjusting to a new environment can be a stressful experience for some students. Our professional and experienced staff provide a variety of learning, social and personal support services. All students also have access to the partner university’s excellent health and counseling services.

UMass Lowell is one of a few public universities in the U.S. to offer accredited undergraduate degrees in plastics engineering and nuclear engineering. UMass Lowell has a radiation laboratory with a research nuclear reactor and Van de Graaff accelerator that provides students with real-world experience in particle physics, nuclear engineering and health physics.

Earn both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in five years

Bachelor’s to master’s programs give students the opportunity to complete two degrees in as little as five years, saving valuable time and money. There are nearly two dozen undergraduate majors at UMass Lowell that offer a combined accelerated bachelor’s to master’s degree program.

Scholarships and bursariesEach year through the GSSP academic merit scholarship program, 162 scholarships are awarded worldwide to students currently studying in our university pathway colleges and managed campuses.

Academic merit scholarshipsThe GSSP provides a limited number of scholarship(s) each semester to continuing students attending a partner school who have displayed high academic skills and talents. These students must also demonstrate commitment to fostering intercultural understanding through their engagement at the partner school.* The number and value of the award will be solely determined by partner staff.

For programs that matriculate directly into a university degree program, the scholarship will cover only the member institute components of the program for the semester.

Family bursaries

The GSSP offers financial support in the form of family bursaries. A bursary applies where two or more students from the same family study with a member institution.* The bursary is equivalent to 10 percent of the tuition fee of your program of study.†

UMass Lowell/UMass Dartmouth‡ International Scholars AwardThe International Scholars Award is a renewable award available specifically for UMass Lowell Global Student Success Program (GSSP)/UMass Dartmouth Global Student Program (GSP) students. The award amount is US$3,000 per year and the scholarship is awarded to all international students who successfully complete the GSSP program with a GPA of 3.0 or higher

Continuation of this undergraduate degree scholarship is dependent on maintaining full-time status and a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 at the end of each academic year. This scholarship is renewable annually and awarded for a maximum of four years.
