Purpose: This document outlines the steps required for installation of the Global Protect VPN (Virtual Private

Network) on a MAC laptop. Approved users can download the client from the IT Service Desk Portal.

1) Follow the installation process, click Continue

2) Click Continue

3) Click Install

4) Enter your Username and password. Note: this is the username/password used to log onto your laptop.

Click Install Software

5) The GlobalProtect settings will appear and requesting the (username, password and portal), at these

fields you’ll enter:

Username: Banner ID (100XXXXXX)

Password: Network password (this is the password used to log into your computer).

Portal: enter without the quotes “webremote.dc-uoit.ca”.

Click the “Apply” button.

6) Click Close

7) When the connection is successful you will see a green globe with a blue and white shield on the right

side of the menu bar.

8) If the connection is unsuccessful (or if you are not connected) the globe will show a red and white “x”

mark.

9) To disconnect the VPN, click on the green globe and select “Disconnect” from the menu.

Connect to VPN

1) To connect to the VPN click the globe and select “Connect” from the menu.

2) Enter your user information:

Username: Banner ID (100XXXXXX)

Password: Network password (this is the password used to log into your computer).

Portal: enter without the quotes “webremote.dc-uoit.ca”.
