The global marketplace is changing fast, and consumers more and more are looking for a well-recognized and valuable mark that gives them confidence in the safety of the products they’re choosing. Trust in a manufacturer’s safety claim is key, and going the extra step to earn a voluntary safety mark to accompany a CE Marking is evidence of a manufacturer’s commitment to consumers.

Independent and Meaningful Manufacturers can now opt to add the UL-EU Mark in addition to or as a substitute for other voluntary marks to demonstrate their commitment to safety. The UL-EU Mark indicates a product’s compliance with EN safety standards, and products carrying it fall under UL’s Follow-Up Services program to determine ongoing conformity with requirements.

The UL-EU Mark is based on applicable EN standards and issued exclusively by UL. The certification is valid for 10 years unless the product and / or the requirements change.

Why the UL-EU Mark?Manufacturers accessing European markets can now benefit from the same trust that UL has achieved in the U.S. for over 120 years. In addition, the UL-EU Mark stands for integrity and high quality thanks to UL’s many years of experience in writing standards, their ongoing research and strong global network of technical experts.

The UL-EU Mark is another initiative to support manufacturers in reducing their critical time to market and cutting costs by combining testing and certification efforts into one approach. Global manufacturers then only need one product submission in their key markets and work with one set of people, which significantly reduces project management efforts.

With the UL-EU Mark, UL customers selling their products in Europe as well as the key markets of Canada and the United States have a unique opportunity to earn a combined Mark with one product submittal.

What UL can do for you in Europe

UL Global Security & Brand ProtectionUL takes an aggressive stance against counterfeiting through a comprehensive programme that involves law enforcement agencies from around the world. Since 1995, there have been thousands of seizures of counterfeit products, helping to prevent products bearing counterfeit UL Marks from reaching consumers. In addition, UL has mandated the use of holographic labels for product categories targeted by counterfeiters.

* The Enhanced UL Certification Mark is a further development of the classic Listing and Classification Marks. Both the existing marks and the enhanced UL Certification Marks will be in use, will appear on products in the marketplace and are indications of UL certification.
